    You CAN fix frosting!
    Small time custom painter here.
I hate to tell you this after you fixed it, but maybe you can spread this info to the greater community.
Aerosol sprays are solvent based. Meaning they can re activate the previous layer.
Frosting is caused by improper curing (typically humidity above 50%) what you need to do is re varnish, in an environment conducive to proper curing.
So here's what you do, take tge frosted model and just keep it safa and clean until you are certain that the humidity is below 50% (I've found you can wait up to 5 days and this will still work) check the weather on the net.
Once you have arrived, take that same spray, and place it in a bowel of warm water. (Shower temper is fine.) Once the can stays warm after shaking, it's ready to go.
Head out side and give the frosted model a good all around spray.
If the sun is out, leave it in the sun. If not, bring it in abd put it under a heat lamp.
I've yet to have this fail me

Came here to say the same thing. I've used that same spray plenty. The only time it has failed me was on especially humid days (I live in Louisiana, so we get plenty of those), and I've never had it fail when I reactivated it with a second spray on a less humid day.

I've also heard a gloss coat and a reapplication of the matte works to fix frosting. I have the UV protection version of the matte finish that Wyloch used and have had some frosting issues, but not as bad as in this video.

Since you have no reservations about using your airbrush I highly suggest the Vallejo Mecha clear coats for airbrush. Good out of the bottle, and they are acrylic. The matte is the most matte thing I've found that isn't the now impossible to find Testors Dull Coat.

Had this "frost" happen before. Matte varnish tends to be me more finicky. Usually humidity is to blame, being more likely to cause issues with matte. Best solution I've found is to hit it with gloss varnish over the frosted matte. Then come back when conditions are best and apply matte over gloss.

Scratch build machine guns: q-tip sticks/tooth pick sticks/small dowels for barrels, sprue for the receiver assembly, bit of dowel for ammo can. Wrap the dowel in a cut plastic straw so it looks like it feeds into the receiver assembly. If the gun and is large enough, you can use a bit of small zip for the ammo feed: the ridges look like bullets. Add extra bits as desired.

Excellent job and great inspiration. I’m doing something similar but for ‘Black Ops,’ using vehicles for scenery. I’ve had frosting issues occasionally too. I’ve been able to rescue/reverse it in a couple of ways. The simplest method is to use Agrax or Nuln over the whole model. Works fine if it’s just terrain. Otherwise you can try a coat of gloss varnish. Once it’s fully set you can retry the matt.
Look forward to seeing more, particularly scratch built weapons.

Other people have already commented on ways to get rid of frosting. I just want to mention some issues I've had with Vallejo weathering. Don't get me wrong: these are absolutely fantastic products. However, they seem to have a weird interaction with varnishes that I think comes from whatever is used as a binder for the pigment. In my experience, it seems like varnishing mediums can reactivate the product and make it turn into a mess as it mixes all together. To get around this, you have to use gel medium mixed in with the Vallejo product as you're applying it. Then, go back over and use thin layers of pure medium to seal the surface after you've finished painting the model. Once you have a nice, clear layer acting as a barrier, you can then go back in with varnish.
I'm not sure if that's what was specifically going on here, but I wanted to point it out just in case anyone was having this issue and found none of the other methods here solved anything.

I have had that frosting happen on minis to me as well. Seeing some competent fixes for this in the comments, I'll skip repeating them. What I have done to avoid it completely is I bought some Vallejo Mecha Varnish, thinned, through the airbrush. They make both matte and gloss, so I keep a tiny bottle of each thinned with some airbrush thinner and airbrush medium and just varnish my finished models indoors. Granted, I am avoiding the root cause of the issue (humidity/temp) by airbrushing them indoors, but this is the solution that has worked for me. Living in the Midwest means i can see some long stretches of high humidity days in the summer. Great video. Thanks!

I used to paint hundreds of models. That primer really sticks so I've always just skipped clear coats. I toss my cars aroused, they have moved over and over. They look great over all! Clear coats are optional, and scary... Don't ever be afraid to give something try again! I've come back to cars over and over. You learn stuff and fix things or totally redo it! It's all about the fun ❤

Excited to see you pick up Gaslands. I like making the cars almost as much as playing. That's a lie. I enjoy the fabrication more, channeling my creativity.

Sometimes applying another coat of varnish over the frosted coat will fix the issue. I've also heard olive oil can fix frosted varnish, but I've never tested it myself.

Really cool video. Been thinking about Gaslands for some time now. Haven't played it, but can't help but be reminded of the old Steve Jackson game Car Wars. I've had the frosting issue myself. As I see others commented, it is fixable. Still very aggravating after hours of work though. I tried to make my own version of multicam on one of my sniper rifles. After days of work I hit it with matte varnish. Almost lost my mind when it frosted. Some on line research and I learned weather conditions were the likely culprit. Varnished it again inside for better temperature control the next day. The second and third coats of varnish removed the frosting in the first coat.

if you can figure out how to scratch build machine guns rockets and miniguns and stuff without it being just a 2d cutout on cardboard, i think a lot of gaslands players in the decisively poor section would appreciate it

I am brainstorming some ideas for my next cars video. At a glance: take seven toothpicks and bundle them together, and glue a very thin strip of paper around to hold them together. Now you have a minigun.
Take a mechanical pencil (the cheap black Bic ones with the colored clips) and chop off the first inch or so. Now you have a big ass missile.

@@WylochsArmory My favourite machine gun materials are plastic-coated paperclips and plastic-shafted cotton swabs. You get dozens for pennies and they make nice, hollow weapon barrels. I got lucky and found the paperclips fit perfectly inside the swab shafts, so I could make a shrouded MG barrel fairly easily
You could probably do the minigun bundle with the paperclips: I prefer them for their straightness, stiffness, and easy adaptability. Slide the plastic up for a barrel, slide the plastic back to form a center lug for the minigun.
Rockets? Swab shafts cut to length and glued in a row, tiny paperclip bits to seal the back end. Or wrap a wooden toothpick in paper, glue in a row if you like more than a suggestion of rockets
Quick window armour: staples. Use some small pliers to crack three or four off the rack, trim them to size with wire cutters. A bit more involved than cereal box cardstock, but a pretty nice texture.

Missiles: small dowels, sharpen point with hobby knife or pencil sharpener. Rocket holder: plastic straw that is just bigger than the dowel - cut and glue accordingly to size. Make as many as you want, and glue side by side on car (start middle, work outward to maintain symmetry).
If you can find used, trashed Wago electric wire connectors, there is your launcher, just add missiles.
You can also use plastic coated paper clips glued together to make a mini gun barrel assembly, then cut small plastic straw that it fits into to form the cylinders that connect the barrels - one on each end (two total) and glued to a receiver and ammo assembly (see my post above about machine guns).

Also just realized that mini clothes pins (wooden ones), that can be found in the dollar store, the slanted bit would be a good angle for mounting missiles on.

if you have a hobby store in your town, check and see if they have boxes/bins of bits for sale. I got a whole armory of weapons like that. With a little casting you can make even more bits too, for pretty damn cheap.

Thanks for the video. Sorry you didnt have any luck with air paints. I will say I do love the air ready paints that I have tried. Especially Metal Color from Vallejo. I like the army painter air and the Vallejo model air also.
