I've heard Cog is more of an automated drone instead of alive like the other bots and that Fortress Maximus uses him as a sort of an avatar for interacting with the smaller bots.
To this day, this is the only line that makes me “i want that” in every single release. But if i have to really pick, maybe this one and skytread / optimus prime. For now.
I am honestly impressed with, when they could of just focused on the weapons for bigger figures gimmick, how much effort Hasbro put into making the robot mode something in itself that both looks good and has posability.
He looks like he'd make a great army-builder or trooper figure. He's got that kind of generic faceless tough-guy charm to him, and with all the weapons he has, it'd be easy to kit out a gang of Cogs to make them look distinct. Or, hell, have him get dismembered.
People who hate on parts-forming need to check this guy out. It's basically a weapons and armor pack that combines into it's own figure. This adds a whole new and exciting level of customization that's rarely seen with Transformers.
I can't wait to load Optimus Prime with Cog, Brunt and Sixgun. All at once. Or if I can find them on sale... army build each toy and connect them to themselves.

cog lookss so good in updated version, those details and panel lining are superb , even tho he was a boring looking in the original G1 toy the updated looks enhanced its boring side becaus e of the detail all over his body

But imagine attaching Cog's legs to Prime's backpack as flight boosters with the crotch piece attached to the legs and upper body attached to the crotch piece as overhead cannons. And Cog's arms could on Prime's with those bumper guns facing forward? I'M GETTING A CREDIT CARD!!!! Also I think Cog's legs on another's feet look dumb.
I feel like this is a great idea for kids and people in touch with their inner child enough to be able to play around, but not so much for adult display collectors like me. I'd rather just get a 3P pack of weapons.
I love the look and concept of the Weaponizers, but I can't help but fear one day they'll be so loose they won't stay together :( I kinda expected a push-release system to help mitigate that problem. That said, he looks so, so fun! The backpack of doom SCREAMS Armada Overload!
I want to get two of the weaponizers, make Cog into his "SUPER TURBO MURDERIZER" cannon mode and use the other weaponizer as armor parts, and make a poor deluxe figure into the host body for the "MURDER EVERYTHING" wall-o-guns Actually, Cog's giant-gun mode reminds me of the SDF-1's wave cannon (sorry, I meant "super-dimension-energy cannon with beam polarizing converging system", because that just rolls off the tongue).
In the future, I would love to see how these are integrated into the Titans that they were originally partners for. I got the iron factory Turrets and Manacle for my Generations Metroplex, and these look like they are about the same integration level for other titans.

And that "murder backpack" is precisely why we need a G2 style repaint of Sideswipe - because G2 Sideswipe seemed like a bit of a gun freak.

Emeral Bookwise that Fort Max is covered in pegholes to attach the weapons from the Titans Return figures that can seat the titanmasters
same, looks like it has a matching color scheme but I would be nice to see if cog can be carried around in Max

Cog: the most redundant character ever created, to the point where he has appeared in no fiction, ever.
It would be hilarious to see multiple Cogs with sets of arms attached to the shoulder ports, so they can hold guns in every hand and on the torso.
Fiction-wise, I can see these weaponizers as automated drones like the Vehicons in Beast Machines or the Centurion Units in Stormbringer.
