Hi mate, a very informative video. 👍. You mentioned watering the quality onions from below. Once the pots are sunk into the beds with plastic covers on, do you have drip lines below the surface of the plastic sheets? All the best 🌻 Nigel .......MuddyBootz Allotment 🌻
Thank you for sharing your experiences Dean, will be setting my best ones for seed and even the virus affected variegated one. What do you feed yours on? ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
Dean you are an inspiration i have even checked out some kelse seeds which are available on line and its just down to your enthusiasm ,but reality struck knowing full well i do not have the space in the greenhouse due to other crops that i grow so i shall continue to enjoy your progress as you fine tune the growing of your show onions keep them coming cheers Carl.
Got to be the best onion growing vid this side of the Ponderosa. I learned more in that 15 mins than any others viewed before. Only one question, have you done a similar one for leeks? take care Mike
Beautiful onions Dean. You might have seen that Rose challenged a guy on our plot to an onion growing competition so we got some Kelsae on recommendation from a gardening group. I hadn't realised they were giant and they're just in a raised bed at the allotment (well spaced). Do you think they'll be OK? They look healthy enough at the moment but we've only grown for eating before. Can I please ask why you lift the leaves up? Why you use a pot? What was your own variety you grew on? Was there a reason you pulled at 21" rather than let them grow on? Cheers m'dears x
Lift the leaves so that they dont die back so quick and also keeps the flutes nice and green. It was my own variety last year. Pulled at 21” because I want all the same size and also wanted them to store for the right amount of time before the show
Great video really enjoyed it 👍, can I ask if the pots you sink into the trench are bottomless or do the roots grow through the original drainage holes on the pots? Cheers.
Wow now they are onions Dean thanks for the video it's given me an insight on how to grow big onions .my exhibition and alisea have done very well not had the tape on them yet lol my first year of growing this is ....can I ask what you feed them with through out the growing season ? Thanks mate
I noticed your tattoo (27-3-08) is that for your son? My daughter Emily Rose was born March 27th 2022 .. this March is her first birthday! I'm so excited.. can't believe your boy will be 15! If the tattoo is for him
@@DeansLostThePlot wow! Amazing! I will not want to believe it when my little princess turns 15! Feels like just yesterday she was born!
