Next year you'll so better then this year, then after that you'll be at your best with growning giant onions. Then you'll get bored and do something else. I think this was great. Those giant onions are impressive, regardless of the weight, Mark ! Too bad the weight wasn't upto your expectations. Perhaps, for your next batch, you could try a change in medium for 1 or 2 pots. I am aware of some people growing their bonsai trees in bonsai substrate in an air-pot. I think that since the bonsai substrate (inorganic medium) has better drainage and aeration than the medium you have used, it might give you a better result. It might need more watering too. Maybe you could get in touch with some bonsai club, talk to some experts and see what comes off it. I think that the bonsai substrate many prefer is a mix of 1 part akadama (japanese volcanic soil), 1 part pumice & 1 part lava rock.
In UK, there is Graham Potter of Kaizen Bonsai and Mark of Ma-Ke Bonsai, who have lot of experience with bonsai & substrates and could be good resources for you.
Hello, try website called giant veg.com I get my seeds from them. They are Peter Glazebrooks seeds who,is a world record holder. I managed to get onions up to nearly 13 pounds in weight.
I think this is a case of he really wants to grow cannabis but either his Mrs or someone won't let him so he compensates with this lol all that talent wasted on onions lol
lol im just having abit banter, but all these grow lights and such just puts a strain on people who try to grow them traditionally without having to spend hundreds of pounds, shame you didn't smash any records with those onions good size just not the weight in them.
