  • Went for a walk and started recording when I saw people running and emergency vehicles on the scene of what can only be described as a reckless driving incident.
We need to shine a light on incidents like these.

Four young males in an SUV flipped their vehicle and landed in between two houses. Luckily no one was injured but we can't base our roads off of luck.
Specifically: the driver was 24, with three 17-year-old passengers.
This was around when a school bus was dropping off children but the school bus had to find another drop-off spot.
Our roads, streets and stroads are too wide and encourage speeding and reckless driving in London. The roads are a playground for drivers and this impacts our most vulnerable.
It's essential to narrow the roads and increase traffic calming measures for safe streets everywhere in London and across the globe.
Vehicles are bigger than ever and we need to make driving uncomfortable to reduce speeding.
Safe streets should be for everyone and not just individuals in vehicles.

Speeding through a residential neighborhood on the first day back to school for the kids...hope this guy gets penalized appropriately. It really ain't that hard to keep the shiny side up and your wheels between the lines...been doing it for nearly forty years, and I'm not that bright.

Apparently the driver had a bunch of prior speeding tickets on file. Drivers definitely need to have more serious repercussions for ignoring rules.

Well it's Canada so that a hard no he won't be penalized appropriately. My best friend was walking on a sidewalk and a drunk driver hit and killed her, 2 years ago. This was in Hamilton Ont. He got 3 and a half years...He had 18 DUI's...driving on a suspended license and on probation. Three and a half years, welcome to Canada.

    Yep.
If I were to design a residential road to allow me to drive as fast as possible, that street on the video is exactly the design I'd do: sidewalks on only one side (so when speeding around I only need to look on one side... and if I do hit a pedestrian who's "on the wrong side..." it's their fault, not mine). I'd also want low almost non-existent curbs, so if I start drifting, I won't ruin my wheels or tie-bars when I skid sideways into it. I'd want the road to be wide enough so that if someone is coming the other way, there's enough room for evasive action. Lastly, I'd want a few trees to give me a sense of speed, but I'd want them set back so when I drift or skid, there's a low chance of then damaging my car.
Ya, residential street design in London really is designed for the car. But then again, just look at the house's two car garages!
