Thank you Josh for taking the time to to create these videos there are going to help my grandson in his progression in baseball. As a life long Padres fan I appreciate your time in San Diego and wish you the best in Houston! Thx!
Thanks Josh. I'm one of those Padre fans who understands the ugly animal of value by stats, and agrees with your stance. You don't create depth with your closer, you build a robust pen. And you damn sure don't blame a season on one game. wish we still had you. Wish ya well.
Miss you in Milwaukee, you were always my favorite player here by a mile. Wishing you much success down in Houston, may you find some quality hunting time and legit BBQ as well.
Your an inspiration brother. Would You mind talking about you day to day throwing routine in season? What does your pre game throwing look like as far as intent/distance/volume and then how do you get ready to go into the game? Thanks.
Was gonna ask if you were using the DJI Pocket 3 for filming when I noticed the subject tracking, then I saw the magnet for the mic 2. Pretty slick camera…looking into one myself. Thanks for the content. Have a 10 and 7 year old who love the game and the outdoors! Subscribed!
Will this help with arm strength as well? or just velocity, for example if I don’t pitch but wanna throw harder across the diamond, or throw farther from center field to home, will these help with those too?
Absolutely, I can dive deep on the recovery. There’s a lot of things that go into recovery as a pitcher. Gaining velo is different for everyone. I will say have the right mechanics and using your body the correct way will help gain velo. Along with strength, mobility and stability. A lot of factors.
I started plyos in 2021, I would only do reverse throws. I was always skeptical on throwing weighted balls forward. 2022 I went to the Padres, Ruben showed me a few forward drills. I started to feel comfortable with them. Used the guys at Tread for the remainder of the season to come up with a routine. I only throw the 7oz ball forward. I don’t like to go any heavier. Reverse throws I use the 2.2LB. These drills are what I found to fit me best. They have a ton of different drills. This is what worked for me.
Honestly wouldn’t touch them till junior year HS I wouldn’t go heavier than 7.5 oz throwing forward. I would focus on arm care. Learning their body and throwing strikes.
Do you do this same plyo workout no matter what intent your throwing long toss? like if i am only throwing my long toss at 70%. not 100% would i still do plyos or is that only when your planning on throwing 100% long toss?
Yeah I will always do my warmup routines. No matter the intensity of catch play. Always warm your arm up properly. I will say if you haven’t done plyos before and just started maybe only doing 5 reps and build in more once your arm adapts to the plyos.
have you found that you have added more or taken away things from your routine to get ready? is this different from your routine in season or is this your off season routine for getting ready?
I’m always adding to my routine in general. Seeing what works for me and what doesn’t. This plyo routine I’ve kept the same for a few years. I’ll use this same routine in season.
oh snap, THE Josh Hader, respect man!

Weight on the red ball?
How long have you been doing this specific Routine?

@@Josh.Hader71 Thanks for the feedback my Man, and great video
do you do these just as a warm up or do you do these on their own as a workout for your arm?
I do these as a warm up before catch play
They also strengthen your arm as you do them consistently.
@@Josh.Hader71 Appreciate it!
At what age would you recommend players to start using plyoballs?

Maybe this will allow you to pitch more than an inning
You better pitch more than 1 inning B
