Thanks Bro! You're now my handheld gaming guru😊 Now I feel justified in acquiring the ANBERNIC RG 40XXV & POWKIDDY RGB20SX. Okay, I'm not getting both in one go. I'll get the other months later. Those two will go along with my new Keyboy. And I'm playing with the idea of giving each of them a specific purpose like you mentioned in your video. Tell me, guru. Can I apply that same logic to the year 2020. When I finally purchased my Nintendo Switch. Only to buy a Nintendo Switch Lite a month later? Even though logically speaking, I knew I didn't need two Switches. Many popular video game content creators say owning multiple Switches is really dumb. I now realize I was affected by the phenomenon you diagnosed as GAS. Maybe some fomo. And yes, at the time... good old fashion greed, I must admit🙃😅
Yo I was thinking of getting the RG40XXV, because it looks so clean, but I like horizontal handhelds more and got the RGCubeXX in the end. IMO there are plenty of reasons why to get multiple Switch Consoles like: - One as stationary console the other one as handheld - One having normal firmware, the other one for Custom Firmware - if you play Pokemon you can trade across version etc.
My first gut reaction is a resounding: "NO! Why?" But let's see if you make a good argument. Well, I am not convinced albeit I share some of the points. But I do own non-emulator handhelds as well. My 2DS XL for example is hardly ever not in my bedroom.
I think we need to just have more balanced approach: first you don’t need many reasons to buy handhelds, they are quite cheap and fun to use, you bought it and had some fun that’s good enough reason already. Second yeah hold your horses sometimes and don’t buy yet another device, remember that later will be even cooler one. It’s a good approach to be patient. Also the good idea to buy the device that will be nice for years, longterm
For me it’s not the FOMO, it’s a craving to improve my gaming experience. FOMO is unusual term here because few month later we’ll get better device, so you’re not missing out much. Although many people say it’s FOMO, so for them probably it really is
Nice! The V10 is great for on the go. I was initally planning to get the 40XXV, but then the RGCubeXX came out and I'm going for that one. But if I'll have some spare money, I'll try out the 40XXV because it looks so clean🤩
@@jimtepedino9295 Oh I'm completely the opposite😆 In general, I prefer horizontal handhelds over vertical ones. Then I really like that the back has the ergonomic grips which I already like on the RGCube (I also get the RGCubeXX because it's nice to have the DPad on top). I like the 1:1 screen, because I recently got into GB/GBC games and those games work well with that screen ratio. For 4:3 games I have a similar opinion like Retro Game Corps, that I prefer to have the black bars at the top and the bottom rather than on the sides and I don't really intend to use it for 16:9 games (but of course can be done). IMO the 1:1 screen is super versatile and fantastic for playing NDS games. Playing NDS with both screens at the same time might be too small for some, but I can deal with that. Once MuOS is released for the RGCubeXX it'll probably be my go-to.
@@ManoOresto I usually use horizontal, so when I found the rg40xxv, I really liked it, mix it up, nostalgic, etc. Then i ordered the 406V. (and a RP5, lol). It's not the horizontal shape, it's the 1:1 aspect ratio, It just looks really weird to me.
@@jimtepedino9295 I mean I do agree, it does look weird, but I think that this is also why I find it so intriguing. I'm just a sucker for quirky novelty stuff and the 1:1 screen fits into that😃
Reason #1 is very true; even though the Steam Deck can emulate anything, I'd never play a GBC game on that. I just got an RG Nano to go along with my keychain so, even though it won't be my all-in-one device, mainly because of small it is, I already know it's going to be my go-to Pokémon/Tetris machine.
Oh yeah, I only just noticed through your comment, that I haven't included any original handhelds😅 But I still love my DS and 3DS! Do you use custom firmware on your 3DS?
Your reasoning is sound but a case could be made for the exact opposite. I've been collecting handhelds and had so many that I had the AP problem choosing the handheld not the game. I've since reduced the amount and at the moment I have the following hardware left: RGB 30 (for low end systems, VShmups and Pico8), RGB 40XX V for everything else up to PS2 and GC, a Switch for the kids, an ROG Ally for PC games and finally a Lenovo Legion H700 2023 Tablet with Gamesir G8 Controller. Oh and a 3DS XL for DS/3DS... I am thinking that's still too many. The ROG Ally and H700 and even are too big for a handheld and the RGB 30 is not powerful enough. Long story short a device like the RP Mini or Odin Mini become more and more appealing...
I totally get your feeling, a one-and-done handheld has it's perks. Sometimes it's great to not having to think about what handheld to pickup and just take the one that can do it all. I also was thinking about getting the exact same RP Mini or Odin Mini, but I'd need to save up a little for them. Maybe once I get them, I'll be converted and be more minimalistic😁
I want, need (not really though) and have only one device. Plus the phone in my pocket, which - thanks to RetroArch - is getting more retro playtime than that one handheld.

@@ManoOresto the first one is actually really good. I got 63 PS2 games up and running perfectly and you can get it pretty cheap. but I mostly play horror, games and tomb raider games.

Nice setup! I recently see the RP4pro pop on ebay, probably because people want to upgrade to the RP5. It's always tempting to get one😁Also, I'd really like to try a Legion Go or some kind of PC handheld one day
Who knew we were all living such shared experiences

Agree, everyone has their reasons. Improving the gaming experience also a valid one😄
The powkiddy V10 is my go-to for GBA and GBC while the 40XXV is used for the rest of the 4:3 stuff.
