Here's another thing every Fairy Tail fan should know about Lucy: Despite being considered 'weaker' than many members of Fairy Tail, her actual Full Magical Power rivals that of Dragon Slayers from their early days. It's true, in the two-parter episode that revealed Loke to be Leo, and introduced the Celestial King, Lucy managed to summon NINE spirits at once, FIVE of which were Zodiac Spirits. Given the nature of the show and the knowledge that Lucy has grown in power over time, her actual potential can be misread if you only see her as a summoner and whip user. The fact that she can summon and keep two-three gates open at once is a testament many Celestial Wielders cannot perform (this is concerning the time before the Infinity Clock where Celestial Wizards lost their Magical Power by the end of it). Only two other Celestial Wizards have successfully accomplished summoning more than one spirit at a time during the Early Fairy Tail Arcs: Angel and her sister, Yukino. The only other one mentioned (as far as I've read) is Layla Heartfilia, Lucy's mother.
It always bothers me when Lucy is portrayed as weak, because she is badass when she gets the time to be. I actually think Lucy can become one of the strongest wizards if she sets her mind to it, because her magic lets her do all kinds of stuff that the other wizards can't do. She can take the magic of her Spirits and use it to her advantage, which is pretty nifty to have. And plus, I read somewhere that Celestial Spirit magic is in the top five strongest magic to use.
In all seriousness, most people misread her is in how I said: She's a summoner and whip user. She can't really use flashy magic like the Dragon Slayers and the Maker Magic wielders; however, that doesn't mean she can't rival their strength and endurance. The only 'flashy' spell she is known to use is Urano Metria, and to this day, she has only ever really used it by herself once... when she first learned it. All the other times she's used it is with Gemini and Yukino. In the Tartaros arc, she needed a boost from Aquarius to use it after summoning the Celestial King. (this summoning method is BS in my opinion. There should have been another way to open the King's gate.) I love Lucy and when I first saw her summon NINE spirits before the King, I knew INSTANTLY her magic potential rivaled Natsu's. Heck, after the one year time gap, I wouldn't be surprised if she rivaled Gildarts magic power in potential.
the problem is with anime in general the girls are almost always weak and when they are not they eventually end up dependent on someone lucy is only shown as strong when there is no one there to help her and no one coming which is a problem she will hold her own until someone gets there and proceed to get beaten up like the grand magic games she is strong but they write her in the worst way possible until it's convienient
cherry johnson To be fair, since she only has a whip or call upon others... it's VERY hard to write her correctly, especially since her main power is calling for an ally. One thing I really wish is that she would have Silver Keys that are also fighters. I mean, Angel had that sword/gun thing and Yukino has a giant golem of a fighter (don't take me seriously on that 'golem' thing, I'm too lazy to look it up). Why can't Lucy have other Fighting Spirits besides Zodiac ones... it would really come in handy to have someone if she's low on magic power to open a Zodiac gate. Plus, she could potentially use a robotic-style Spirit as a sword or blaster like the one Angel had to expand her repertoire beyond just a whip.

I got into an argument with someone at school when I said Lucy was my favorite character. He said she was weak. So I brought up all her badass moments, including how she single handedly (with the exception of her Celestial Spirits) took out an entire pack of bandits when she thought they kidnapped her father. Even my friend, who is more of an Erza fan, back me up on that one, supporting my argument by bringing up the fact that she made an audience with the Celestrial Spirit King.
It’s not really with an exception of her spirits because at the end of the day that’s her magic! If a celestial spirit defeats an enemy then Lucy has won because she summoned them and therefore beat them so I don’t get how it’s any different from natsu using his fists to defeat an enemy?

Lucy has always liked the idea of romance so it is a little peachy that she might be flustered when the topic comes up maybe she likes to do that to look more attractive and make it look like she is harder to get making more guys attracted to her.

Lucy is a very powerful mage. but when i say powerful, she has a strong magic and abilities. but she, herself is weaker because of how she doubt herself and sometimes she don't realize she's weaker than she think. Lucy can use Elemental Magic (Earth,Water and Light), Celestial Magic (Star Dress, Urano Metria and Celestial Spirit Summoning) and also one of the Grand Fairy Spells (Fairy Sphere). See? with these powers, she can completely beat any of her opponents. but she lack discipline, she lack training, she lack experience and she lack confidence.
