This explains so much lol. I play on switch and I haven’t been able to figure out why I have felt so off with the pump this season. I normally enjoy pump metas, but with the sword in the game I’ve hit way too many 20 damage shots with the pump, and the auto and oni both are pretty bad. This is probably why everyone is using swords now. They’re fed up with not hitting their pump shots lol.
I feel like the Oni does better damage at greater distance. I like it for getting a quick and easy 100 damage on a player charging with a sword. Seems like I have time for that shot plus a few rounds from an AR before they close the gap.
Yeah exactly , the stats he showed on paper favor the pump , but i hit my shots i want consistency , a solid 80-100 off rip just by hitting them mostly anywhere is crazy
I hate to say it but everyone I know who uses controller has stopped playing. It’s just not fun for anyone to die to kbm every single game. We’ll look up stats of who we die to, and it’s kbm users 100% of the time we’ve looked anything up. Aim assist being inconsistent from weapon to weapon, continually being nerfed is just exhausting. People I know moved on to another game and I just wish that wasn’t the case, I like Fortnite still, wish they would just stop nerfing controller.
Yeeeep Same here I can tell when it’s a KBM player that kills me instantly and I just stop playing It’s ridiculous they just have access to a full array of shit we do not.
@@TY-fy4of Now? The fact that k+m players were ever complaining instead is a joke. With or without controller aim assist, its a well known fact that k+m is the superior way to play any FPS game
the oni shotty is actually a very good gun. to the point where it can possibly be a problem. if used correctly you can make your fights easier close and movve on to the next fight. Odd take but use the oni shotty while taking cover and distancing yourself more than usual. you will see how great it is and how it can be a problem
I have trouble with what feels like blanking shots. Probably a skill issue. But because it feels like that I need extra chances to do damage so I’m all auto shotgun at this point
I’m finding this across all the BR modes rn. Shotgun is lined up, crosshairs on their head, pull the trigger and nothing happens. You’re dead before you have a second chance to shoot. I notice it happens more when you’re coming out of a fast movement like a jump or sprint.
Once again thanks for the info. I've been using the sentinel but not having as much success as I expected, this does help explain why (especially since I'm a pretty casual player so my aim is not exactly the best). Considering the higher damage floor for partial shots maybe my old, arthritic hands should give the oni another chance.
I didn't realize that was my problem with the sentinel till a week ago... I was using the oni, but I wasn't fully happy using it.. Once I realized the no aim assist issue, I just had to make sure I took my time with it... Now that's my only go too shotty...
I’ve noticed this since it came out. I guess this is the new normal KBM exclusive weapons (Striker burst/combat AR/sentinel Pump/ long/mid range Veiled precision SMG)
thanks for this video, this explains a lot :) i play on controller and i play build-mode so the sentinel pump was the obvious choice for me. but recently i felt like i missed so many more shots with the sentinel than with the other shotguns, that i sometimes took the purple oni over a green or blue sentinel. i guess i really give the the oni a try conistently until this gets fixed. also i really like the oni + shockwave combo. if im on low ground i shockwave up or like in a small angle over the opponent. and then if i ads with oni while shockwaving over the opponent i make so much damage often 80+, cuz i can hit headshots easliy that way and mainly of course cuz of the great range of the oni. i also prioritize now to get a fire boon to make up for the the fact that you have to reload the oni so often. with the fire boon the oni reloads really quick and makes this gun much more viable
I haven't liked any shotgun this season, and maybe this is why the Sentinel doesn't feel good. I'm still sporting the double-AR and katana load-out because the shotguns and smg's are so lame.
I really don't like the direction the devs are taking where they change sensitivity or aim assist for controller players on a whim and on certain weapons. They did the opposite of this with the projectile Striker Burst and the projectile Combat AR.
The oni has really good range that would be the only reason I use that over the pump if I have the fire boon for fast reload of course but it depends on the game there both ok the auto sucks I would rather use a pistol than that.
I think this has convinced me to prioritize the oni as I’m terrible at getting headshots. I’d rather get more consistent damage. Of course, it also explains why I so often die to gray sentinel pumps. My opponents are just better than me, lol.
I’ve been feeling this issue since the beginning of the season, sometimes it feels really clunky to use the sentinel. Idk if epic is gonna fix this, since last chapter/season we had the same problem with the emma frost AR and it was never fixed through the entire season.
The sentinel pump is my go to this season. Stronger than the they auto shotgun with more shots than the Oni. I do try to change it up and carry the auto and the Oni occasionally. I do like the distance of the Oni, it reaches out farther then the sentinel, but the slow load and 2 shot limit make it my least favorite.
yeah. the max dmg is disappointing. I was hoping for closer to Ranger shotgun damage potential. I do still like the Oni though as the damage falloff is way less and you can hit for decent damage at range, which helps me vs swords as I try to keep my distance, and can hit a shot (or 2) and switch or shock away and spray for the rest. Id rather have the pump for up close 50/50 fights for sure though. Maybe we will get some more balancing now that they are coming back from break.
Well, this further strengthens my decision to use the Oni Shotgun. I'd already started using it because of the better range it offers, not to mention that I seem to more easily find the Oni in higher rarities, perhaps because many players aren't interested.
@@morganfreeman8230 You can only make this statement if you're 1) a controller player, 2) you have aim assist turned off, and 3) you're hittin' your shots.

The twinfire auto shotgun just feels really clunky. The damage isn't the greatest, reload speed is terrible, and the fire rate just seems completely wrong, It feels more like the oni shotgun fire rate than it does the 1.9 fire rate stat it was given. It feels way too slow to be an auto shotgun plus only having 7 shots since 14 shots but shoots 2 at a time means its terrible, an auto shotgun should get more than 7 shots unless it hits like a gatekeeper.
ahhhh i cant lie i thought i felt that but i also thought i was just ass LOL i usually always go for close up shotgun flicks while not adsing but i suppose best thing to do would be just abuse crosshair placement and strafe aiming to shoot this season

The sentinel pump is my favorite by far. But I’m on a pc with keyboard and mouse so this video doesn’t apply to me. I always felt like there shouldn’t be any aim assist for anyone in fn.

I get your argument of sentinel v oni, but like you said if I’m missing shots with the sentinel that i hit with the oni its a good trade
Agreed 100% like I said I think it just comes down to preference I was just explaining why I still prefer the sentinel despite this downside.
Fortnite ain't fixing nothing over the holidays I'm sick of the katanas already. It's a no-skill weapon! Fortnite should be called Swordnite!

I agree, better to believe in yourself and opt for the higher damage ceiling
Are we not talking about how shockwaves (and i think splashes) don’t work in the flower fields north of Hopeful Heights where the scanner npc spawns?
As always I found this video helpful and informative so I gave it a like😊
Didn't even realize it. Maybe that's why I felt more accurate with the oni yet i still prefer the pump
That guy in the bush at the endgame LOL
So what your saying is every pump kill I’ve gotten this chapter is jus pure skill and no aim assist
Chapter 6 shottys are the reason for me only playing reload, weapon reload time is a complete joke

Makes sense, since the beginning of chapter 6 I have had such a hard time with hitting shotgun shots and I’ve pretty much only used the pump
Something was off this season and it went to being ok after i lowered my look ads. It makes sense now
If I have the void boon I’ll absolutely use the oni the purple or gold is amazing for hitting big damage then switch to smg quick clean kills
Halo twister is my shotgun. It absolutely melts at point blank
I prefer the Fury for close combat, works better for me than any shotgun.
@NathanPease I've heard it's better as well I can't justify 2 spots for 2 ARs, and
Legendary Fury AR shooting from the hip close up is insanely good. Better than any shotgun or SMG
I think this has convinced me to prioritize the oni as I’m terrible at getting headshots.
I’d rather get more consistent damage.
Of course, it also explains why I so often die to gray sentinel pumps. My opponents are just better than me, lol.
Aim assist in Fortnite feels significantly weaker to me than in other games
Hopefully the pump doesn’t share the same fate as the burst from ch5s4. Never used it since it had zero aim assist
I'm not that good but I still love the sentinel pump, it really helps me with the initial damage in close combat
I love the Oni for the range.

I’m kinda a scrub (gold2) and see the Katana being used as the main shotgun this season. Not great tbh

It's not a glitch if you press in on left analog it lets you take off the sight on that gun . Just disable it in the settings .
so its just like the ch5 burst
I’m not that good at aim, not playing enough. That’s why auto shotgun is my aim and spray gun when it comes to close quarters fights.
How do you create your RUclips Thumbnails?
I have an artist who does them
Don’t need aim assist with the pump , sometimes the aim assist be to strong when it’s 2 enemies

What does it mean when buying from an npc and it says “requires expertise”?
You have to accomplish some specific tasks to unlock their purchase. The tasks are listed in quests.
you gotta do the five expertise quests for that NPC. They're in your quest tab
On console it does have aim assist im on ps5 exponential, but there should be no reason for a weapon to have less or no aim assist except snipers
What a great way to balance this shotgun with the auto shotgun…………………..

About it all.
Has anyone else completed the expertise quest for shotgun, only to have it disappear completely? No quest, not able to buy it from the character.
The most Oni has 2 1/2 X the range of the pump ,
I prefer the twin auto. I actually won a match by slaughtering people with a twin auto. I like using the sentinel as well. The oni sucks.
The TwinFire is hands down the worst shotgun ever introduced to Fortnite especially considering it shoots two shots at a time!
I keep thinking it has “14 shots” so i pick it up sometimes, but no, only 7 trigger pulls, i hate it so much
You must not have played the primal season
it eats so much of your ammo, even if you win encounters* with it, i'd argue you practically lost because of how much ammo you wasted
