Thank you! I searched for some type of instructions for my D101 because I was confused about a few things. You did a nice job explaining the steps for designing a label. I so appreciate it, so thank you again.
Jannah, what a great video .. I just got one of these printers and ordered some different cable label spools too. You did and excellent job describing how to adjust their cool app to optimize various functions an features, but didn't mention that they also produce a type of tape stock for cables.. I believe I will find it exceptionally handy labeling the rats nest of cables between my RC Receivers and the various servos in my RC Planes and Boats, and behind my PC in particular.. Thanks very much for the very useful video.
Thanks, glad it was helpful. I own some of the cable labels and the work well, I did initially just fold over one of the longer labels to use on cables but they did not stick together as much as I would like - the specific cable ones hold together great, although I wish they were a little smaller in some cases, as they are quite big.
I was just up on Alibaba looking for smaller ones too but 32mm is the shortest cable label type I’ve found so far.. PS I just showed my wife this new toy and now wonder if I’ll ever see it again .. 🤔😳. She may preempt me and hid it
Terrific tutorial! I've been shopping for a label maker and didn't even know about the Nimbots. I subscribe to you for ink and watercolor videos and just happened upon this video by chance. It's both tremendously useful - and a kick in the head re: label making. Thank you!
Haa, don't blame me if you kinda get a little obsessed with labeling stuff - I am far from an organized person but this little baby got me labeling all my cords, pantry goods (with exp. dates too) and of course all my little ink vials and palettes. This is the only label maker I have so I am not sure how it compares to others out there, but I have no complaints so far :)
I really appreciate this video. It definitely makes the operation seem much easier. I would greatly appreciate it if you could do a video showing how to import fonts and pictures because I can't seem to find any good info on the internet. Thanks again!
Ah, yes - I think for more fonts you have to sign up for the pro subscription, but for more icons/images you can just upload them using the 'image' element. I will try to film a quick tute soon.
Not that I know of - it only works on thermal sticker paper and I think the options are pretty limited at the moment. I have seen that some papers print blue but that is about it, as far as I know.
@@marksaren1880 ah that is cool! That one looks like it uses an ink ribbon to print rather than just heat activating the labels themselves like in the D11, very cool.
The Niimbot uses "thermal labels", there are some links to replacement thermal label paper in the description if you need to get some more - I personally use the 12 X 40mm size the most. If you want a different size just search for "Niimbot thermal label" and you should get some results :)
Easy instructional guide. A question: ive inadvertently used an element in material that is a VIP status. Now im unable to continue without activating. Can you walk me out of this?
Hmm, I think the software has changed a little - try clicking on the "Style" tab when you have the graphic selected and you can toggle the "Proportional stretch" switch to size it freely :)
Yes, to my understanding that is correct, it only seems to work with pre-sized sticker rolls, not custom length tape. The stickers are not tearable so a custom length would not work.
Do you know if you’re able to create and print more than one label at a time without using excel? At the top it shows 1/1 but I can’t figure out how to add additional labels without having to go in and delete the words and retype. Example - if I put a border and icon and then want to add words for window, multipurpose, stain remover etc can I do that easily and have them all print at once?
Sorry, I am not sure whether it can do that or not, it is quite a simple app so I am thinking probably not but you could reach out to them to check for sure.
Hmm, maybe check that you have Thermal Labels not just sticky labels, and also check that they are installed the right way up. Other than that I would contact NIIMBOT as it may be an issue with the machine.
Hmm, the only way I could figure out how to do it is rotate the canvas (little page icon in the top right) then type your word and then reduce the size of your text box to fit one letter per line - make sure "wrap by word" is not turned off :)
Bought one about 2 years ago used it a couple of time (literally) and now it doesn’t want to charge (it blinks red rapidly) i left it charging for over 2 hrs came back and no blue light. It does turn on while connected to the charger but i cant update the software nor print anything but it will let me design something lol I dont know if theres a way to reset it or if yall know a way that might help me fix it somehow, any pointers 😅
Hmm, I have not had that issue - you could try increasing the Print Density (it is a setting when you are on the print page in the app), maybe that will make it darker? If that does not help maybe reach out to Niimbot with your issue.
I have not had any fading over the last two years on any of my labels, but I am not sure of the lifetime of the print. I am aware that other thermal papers do have a limited lifetime of five or ten years before they start to fade, but I have not been able to find any info about these labels.
@@jannahlyon Thanks. There are 2 types, direct thermal or thermal transfer, direct thermal are long lasting while the other fades after like 6 months. So it's probably direct.
There is a subscription if you want more fonts and graphics but for the basic stuff I showed you don’t need the subscription (I don’t have one and don’t think you really need it). You can also upload your own icons/graphics without the subscription too 🤓
So very helpful! Thank you for your thorough walk-thru! Was deciding between this label printer and a similar model and your tutorial sold me on this one! Purchasing it now. :-)
@@jannahlyon, oh my, you helped make the setting up of my device sooooo smooth! I just made my first label. So cute! Excited to continue using this printer. Also got a peak at another one of your videos where you used a specific sized label for your ink samples. Great case for the samples and nice to know these labels provide a durable option. Thanks again! 🌸
@@cb8962 Yay! Glad it helped :) I love those ink sample boxes, I wish I could take the credit for them but I grabbed the idea from the ink flight boxes over @inkjournal (although it did take me some time to locate the correct one on Amazon 🤣)
Yes, you can use the ELEMENT > IMAGE function and upload a photo (or icon, drawing etc, as long as it is in your gallery). You just want to have it as high contrast as you can as it does not print greyscale, just black and white. You may be able to just download the app (its free) and check out the functionality before you buy the device - I know that I can create labels in there ahead of time without the Niimbot printer being on or connected, but not sure if it lets you get that far without connecting a device initially?
Hmm, well there is no ink so the print should not be affected, but not sure about the adhesive? I just rubbed a cotton ball soaked in Isopropyl Alcohol over a label and as expected the printout was not affected, the label also stayed stuck but I can not be sure if the adhesive would fail over time to alcohol exposure.
Problem with these label printers lies in the app. It’s crude, privacy-invading and worst, its subscription-based “VIP” feature. I miss the day where apps don’t have in-app purchase.
Totally agree with you on VIP feature, you have already paid for the printer and labels, the app should allow for all the features without added costs.
Thank you! I searched for some type of instructions for my D101 because I was confused about a few things. You did a nice job explaining the steps for designing a label. I so appreciate it, so thank you again.

If you press the power button once AFTER turning it on, it will self-align the label automatically so you don't lose any labels.
But I think that button will print the last label which was printed.

Bought a D110 a few days ago. Affordable little thing, but very useful.
I still love mine also, it is super handy especially with all the different size labels :)

From my search, the Niimbot B18 can print white ink using a white ribbon cartridge inside it.

May I ask if the application allows you to write with superscript and subscript? I am talking about use in a chemical laboratory.
I took a quick look and could not find a feature on the app that allows you to do that, sorry.
What if it ran out of paper?
And where can i buy the paper?

It is thermal printer, it uses heat inside the little printer to activate the text or art on the stickers! No ink needed or to replace :)

How long does the print last? Thermal prints tend to fade away I read 😟
Sorry, I have only had mine for under a year so can't testify to the longevity yet other than the fact that they have not faded so far :)

You cant - it doesn’t use ink or toner. Instead, it relies on the heat-sensitive coating on the thermal paper to produce the image.
