Thanks for providing commentary for these matchups. It helps a lot for new players like me understand the combos or thought process on how to play out the round/match. Makes us think theoretically/hoptothetically for when we actually play in person.
The red hawk was not revealed, the shanks used his leader effekt on the jinbe, to prepare for the red hawk play. The shanks leader effekt has to be used on attack, the sequence is that the doffy leader effekt happens, then the shanks leader effekt has to be used (or not used), then the played characters on play effekt happens. No mistakes were made by any player this just the correct sequence of effekts. Of course the decision to minus the jinbe implies an existence of red hawk.
Thank you for mentioning the leader effect!! I think I forgot to mention that, because you’re right it’s kinda the foundation to the whole situation. Doing these live and one take has it downsides LOL
Are we sure that’s per the rules I thought all effects happen before Shanks gets to announce where the minus goes. So per example the video my understanding is that, when Doffy swings he activates his leader effect to get a character from the top of his deck that is a 4 cost or lower 7 warlords. Then if that card has a on play effect due to this action the player must resolve it before the Shanks player still has an opportunity to resolve his ability. Because all abilities that happen on the respective players turn must resolve before the other players. Hence why a on play effect that kills sugar doesn’t activate her ability to rest one of your characters. It’s why if you do this SAME scenario and instead there’s a Sugar on the Opposite end of Doffy and you leader ability a Jinbe into a Law bouncing 1 of your 1 drops then bouncing Sugar she doesn’t get the opportunity to rest something still.
@@its2kiwi780no. When doffy leader attack, shanks have to decide if he wanna use leader ability before he call a target for jinbe. Example , if he called jinbe by top deck , BONNIE LEADER CANNOT REST THE CARD CALLED BY JINBE. Hope you understand.
Yes. On plays happen after when attacking. Also turn player before defending player. So it would be Doffy effect -> play jinbe -> shanks decides if he wants to use effect -> Jinbe effect -> blocker step -> counter step (red hawk)
On the Doffy players 6 don turn the shanks player technically misplayed. He used his leader effect too early to counter out of a 7k swing with a 2k counter. If he holds leader effect and takes that hit when the doffy players swings 8k lead and plays the law he can use shanks effect to - 1k the played law. The doffy player then most likely bounces the law to hand however its still one less body on field. The shanks player should also just red hawk regardless of wether its ko'ing a 5k base or not. Had he ko'd the buggy at any point in the 2 turns he had the chance then its 2k less counter in the doffy players hand, meaning he cant protect 1 extra body later in the game (He lost while red hawk still in hand also). Ultimately Doffy player played well and deserved to win. Shanks player played poorly and got dunked on.
He has to anounce the Shanks leader effect before the Boa selects the target for the don. Order goes like this (doffy leader plays Jinbe, shanks effect minus something then jinbe effect happens. So the shanks player did it properly he had no other option
With the unlucky opening hand and draw situation for the Shanks player I am still shocked that these tournaments don't do a best of 3 or whatever for final matches.
The Doffy one because of that leather jacket if you ever go up against an opponent with a lot of drip just forfeit! But in all honestly Shanks did so good I didn’t have much faith in the deck against Doffy but he proved the power of it.
100%! It's not a super favored matchup, but it's close enough that your skill & maybe some luck can power you through consistently like an event of this caliber
So close, yet he ended up being ran over y the Doffy and multiple Jinbes But that is the problem of realying on the late game, if they are too agroo/go wide, you're going to have a hard time surviving till you can counterattack And the Doffy played arround the Red Hawk well too
*sigh* man i was really hoping to see Shanks take the win, but that Doffy player just saw all his pieces. But an amazing game nonetheless. I do like the Shanks deck its a nice different take on it, though a do believe the pure red-haired pirate's is the better way to play it.
You better not stop me from commenting on a number of videos to make sure I didn’t miss commenting for my chance at a play mat!! And if you did… well, not sure I could do much
It’s a weird balance, right? I think several of your black techs are still good into doffy, but yeah it’s impossible to be ready for all the matchups in this meta
@@atrocioustcg Imo Marco and Ace and no searchers combined is not very good, I think black isn't THAT bad of a matchup to warrant this amount of tech at the cost of general playability. Then again I'm not a pro, maybe their deck is based on something I'm not seeing here

Thanks for providing English content for these tournaments.
You are now one of the best go to’s for the commentaries
All because of y'all supporting
I love seeing the new leaders play against some stronger decks
Exactly!! I hope OP10 is similar
Shanks had such a good run
But a Top2 is nothing to be ashamed of 👌
AGREE he did fantastic this event
Nice to not see 4 Doffy mirrors in a row at least
100%. Reminds me of the RP Law days D:
6:20 is exactly why I don't like Red Hawk in Shanks
I genuinely don’t think he would have done that tho without the little slip up
@@atrocioustcgthere was no slip up
@@atrocioustcg Its pretty predictable if you know its played in the meta

I really like your English commentary
the dofla player played so good
I know!! He earned the win for sure
With the unlucky opening hand and draw situation for the Shanks player I am still shocked that these tournaments don't do a best of 3 or whatever for final matches.
It was hard to see the shanks not have any midgame, I think that's why I like the uta searcher more in shanks. Anyways great commentation as always!
Thank you!!! It's such a neat deck
Holy that was quick, Doffy was all gas and I DIDNT GET TO SEE 10 DROP SHANKS NOOOOO
Also thanks Dueling Guard~
The Shanks at least made an appearance in the previous matches D:
So glad I've got most of the cards for a shanks deck. Can't wait till 9 makes it to the US
AGREE LETS GOOO
great vid! i have doffy deck as well :)
Thank you!!
I really like the ace Marco version but not having luckyroo or yasop feels so weird
I think just the value you get on marco’s on play is just that good

Commenting for chance at playmat!
Would love a play mat they look so good
I KNOW i love em
Shanks doesn't have any bad MU. I love how it plays. Red making a comeback.
I know it feels pretty ok into a lot, some matchups aren't the best but still bearable
So glad to see Shanks being in the top!!!!
Me too!! With such a sick build too

Yeah I think the doffy player more than likely new about the specific techs and deckbuild of the Shanks going into it, great play by him
Thanks for doing these videos
thank YOU for supporting!
8:46 why did he take buggy AND sengoku back to hand?
One for Laws cost (bouncing his own character), and the other for the effect (bouncing any cost 4 or less to the hand)
@jermp has it right 🫡 the Law can put ANY 4c back
I love lucky roux for these reasons
A valid option for sure, but probably only when you play the uta searcher
Wooo enterrr
goodluck!!

Still a good run!! That shanks starting hand was brutal
@atrocioustcg agreed, he definitely should had been playing Lucky Roux to help KO some of the other characters, he probably would have lasted longer
we got some more heat
I know this tournament was sick
You better not stop me from commenting on a number of videos to make sure I didn’t miss commenting for my chance at a play mat!! And if you did… well, not sure I could do much
It was fun while it lasted shanks 🎉 2nd place is still better than nothing
wooo
Definatly an unfortunate hand for shanks here, but I also think he teched too much against black.

Doffy still top dawg
Missing my pluffy representative 😂
I feel like it’ll come back around for sure
Shanks bricked so hard. What a way to lose :(
Shaaaaaanks NOOOOO😢
😭
I really wanted shanks to win 🥲 that was a really bad opening hand
I know so unfortunate but happens D:
