Saw Suede on the ‘dog man star’ tour, Brighton Dome 3/11/94. Oakes in situ of course. Correct me if i’m wrong, but he was a 17/18 year old boy and played Bernards guitar parts to perfection. It was absolutely phenomenal. I thought to myself ‘if he can write, they’ll be ok’!
I was 18 when this came out. Loved all Britpop. Even though this was a reaction to it. Great bands around. Was young. Great times. But, for me...Dog man star was head and shoulders above anything by other bands at time. The bravery to release that. Wow
Nice to see Brett and Bernard being able to sit in the same room nevermind actually seem quite friendly. Dog Man Star was a work of art and was the last record to shock my with its brilliant originality. The only album that shocked and enchanted me more was John Lennon’s Plastic Ono Band. That’s how highly I rate it.
A masterpiece that left me personally heartbroken after the band split and Bernards departure. Glad to see him remember situation in group with self-criticism. A real gentlemen
Brett Anderson, a man who got some special providence by a higher power, God, luck or coincidence whatever you'd like to call it. Thinking he first met Bernard Butler to make his (and Mat's) then rather average band brilliant as we know it by now, and then after 2 critically acclaimed fan-favourite albums and fall-out with Bernard, Richard Oakes pretty much fell from the heavens to save his bands arse once again. The drummer Simon and his cousin Neil aren't that bad either. Brett's like a talent magnet.
Let's just remember (learn some history!...).. brett sacked Bernard... little brett needed Bernard (and he was a fool to do it...jus sayin...(give me Bernard over brett, and day...!)..)...
I was just slightly younger than Brett when Dog Man Star was released. I was very disillusioned with “pop music” at the time and only Beck seemed to be doing anything original. Then I heard this masterpiece and everything changed. It was like someone had finally decided to carry the torch that Joy Division left lying on the pavement of a council estate.
It is a great pity for me that I was not born in the 90s. Suede is definitely my favorite band. DMS also my favorite album!!! There is no doubt that it has a kind of magic that attracts you to listen to it. I think that's why I love suede soooo much!!! Anyway,I like BB and Brett!!!
I can never decide if DMS or their debut is their best, but I ALWAYS come back to DMS. It just has something that none of their others have. You can hear the frisson between the members. The tension. It's a flawed, bombastic, beautiful, intelligent, unapologetically English, masterpiece.
What a beautiful interview. Thanks for making it available! Dog Man Star really is a mesmerizing album. And I'm so glad that Pasolini didn't make its way into the cover; much as I love him, I wouldn't want something like Still Life to be forever associated in my mind with *anything* out of Salò, I think...
It was the best album of the 90s. I've really on just started accepting that Suede carried on after that, which is stupid of me because they were an amazing singles band with Richard O. So many of their best tracks were his.

After all the previous bad blood between them it's so wonderful to see them laughing together and getting on so well.
yes x
Matured and put their differences into the grave
It went bad again, hence no second Tears record

Agreed, one of the best albums ever from my point of view as well.
Is a incredibly great álbum. And could be better

Brett is a serious talent himself.
He was so young too when he joined the band
Great interview. For me, they are one of the most gifted songwriting duos in music.
Totally agree..😉

Brilliant brilliant album. Generation defining. An album in the true sense of the word that flowed majestically from start to finish.
Bernard is a legend. All His projects are quality .
"dog man star" in my opinion is their best work so far.
Agreed
My favorite album from a 90s British band along with manic street preachers holy bible ⭐⭐
Ditto
Köln Kantine, 03.12.1994. Suede ans MSP. Live. I was 18 years old. What a great concert with two geat bands.
Dog man star is a masterpiece.
For me, it’s the most important album of the xx century.

My favourite record of all time. I was 16 when it was released.
Hi, there! I was 22. Same feeling.
How many times did they duo together .first in 2005 ? And this time and a 3rd

Me 2,
I mean I was 2 years old then
To me, Suede without Butler is not Suede, Dog Man Star is a masterpiece underrated.
He should have rejoined

Bernard did and always will look dance like a Great Crested Grebe.
Brett sounds and looks so much like Motoboy at the end! Lovely!
You Tube classifies this video "Progressive Rock".
Now I'm reassured algorithms can't hear anything about music.
I don’t know about you, but I want to know more about Ken.
Buddies!
Suede RULES!!!
That awkward feeling when you both turn up with the same clothes, haircut and face
🤣
Lol
They were like the toxic twins of britpop haha
I'm going to end my life to this beautiful fantastic band ..
How'd it go?
Well by the looks of it?!
🤣🤣 damn! You made me laugh.
What a shame that I did not subtitle you in Spanish.
All of Suede's songs would be much better , if they were shortened by 2 minutes.
Hahaha, not We are the Pigs and this incredible solo....it tells a whole story, impossible to shorten it.
