Here are my extensions that I can't live without:
Clutterfree: Only allows a webpage to be open in one tab at a time, automatically cleaning or moving tabs around so that you never end up with redundant tabs.
HoverZoom+: Previews a full size image when you hover your mouse over it.
PocketTuber: RUclips subscription manager. Allows you to make categories for your RUclips subscriptions and turn them on or off. I use it so the channels that post occasionally aren't drowned out by channels that post frequently.
theatremode: simply sets theatremode in youtube as the default setting so you don't have to click theatre mode every time you open a video.
Tab auto refresh: lets you put a tab on a timer to refresh automatically. good when you need that.
Session buddy: let's you save all your tabs so you can easily come back to it later. Used this a lot when studying.

Picture-in-Picture Extension is build in Firefox since 2-3 weeks. And it works flawlessly
PIP is built into chrome too. On the top right, to the left of the account image, you can click on the 'media' button and you can choose to change the vid to PIP.
I've been using Print Friendly & PDF for a while now and it is the best extension that I have ever used. It is a must have if you print out anything from web pages.

A segment regarding the numerous processes running and which ones can be disables/removed would be invaluable to your viewers, I would find it especially find interesting as I have 166 to 184 processes running at a time and it's killing my i7-4th gen. processer.
protip: you dont need picture in picture extension. just double click the right button it will show picture in picture mode.
firefox also has picture in picture.
@@crzb so does every other chromium based browser and opera. In fact opera's picture in picture mode is superior. But I'm not using that browser.

This makes your chrome browser use 90% of your RAM in windows. Best use least number of extensions in Firefox or Chrome. Because each extension is a separate browser process and more hungry the browser becomes.

I wasn't sure what Picture In Picture was, now that I know what it is.
I watch many videos at faster speeds as well. Some channels I always watch at 2x, some I vary between 1.25 and 1.75. Some I just watch at normal speed. It depends on the speaker, the context, and the length of the video.
I found an extension called Workona that sorts tabs. It's kinda like groups but they are under menus so they aren't super small.
I was sad when I didn't see ublock origin. :(

the picture in picture thing is built into chrome, since youtube has its own rightclick menu, just double right click on a youtube video and the native chrome right click menu will appear, then select picture in picture and you can watch the video without the extension ever on your desktop.

Re: Night Shift -
Dark Night Mode is I think the BEST of MANY color-changing extensions, rather than an overlay it does a VERY good job of making every website/page use dark mode basically. Unlike many, it actually works A LOT of the time and is super easy to Whitelist sites when needed. I just think this is better than an overlay especially since we have Nightlight built into Windows now which creates an orangish hue and can adjust automatically on schedule or sunset to sunrise as I prefer it.
A few of the others work with video but if we were to focus solely on RUclips then Enhancer for RUclips takes the prize and does have the PIP mode (sort of) like you spoke about and def the speed adjust which I use all the time. Anyway, it is YT specific and not the same but what you spoke on made me think about it.

I reccomend Enhancer for RUclips. It combines an adblocker. advanced video looper, adjust custom speed for videos, and many more
Instead of Picture in Picture, use AOT, - Always on top. So you can use this feature outside of your navigator with more options and less glitches.

and then Select Picture in Picture

If you right click TWICE on any video on RUclips, it will give you the Picture-In-Picture option. I only noticed this feature, say, a month or two ago, and I have never used the extension. It seems like it is built into Chrome by default now.
picture in picture doesn't only play yt videos on other websites...
it plays it on your desktop aswell
You can also mute a tab by clicking the speaker icon in the tab.
I haven't installed an adblocker yet because I knew the ads helped support youtube creators but it seems that not only have ads gotten out of control in the last two years, the bar to entry with adsense is WAY higher now and even youtubers who do qualify, seem to need to beg for Patron donations, promote a sponsor or two and peddle their own "custom made" junk to make ends meet, not to mention they are way more restricted on what kind of content they can release if they don't want to have their video/channel demonetized. So I'm starting to feel like using an Adblocker is no longer screwing over creators, it's screwing over the company that is screwing over creators.
