It could very well be. I love Gomey, but in other scenes I find his acting to be a bit unnatural (he's more of a standup comedian than an actor) so it makes me wonder if there's a bit of both going on here!
@@betterwatchtv I love that Vince seemed to hire almost exclusively stand-up comedians for supporting roles in his hardcore crime drama. So, if that's the reason, I'll allow it. FUN FACT: I didn't even start watching BB until season 2 when my friend told me they had Bob Odenkirk playing a sleazy criminal defense lawyer. As a huge Mr. Show fan, my immediate response was, "Oh, you mean the role he was BORN to play?"
@@betterwatchtv It absolutely is. Comedy is harder to write, harder to perform. And that's typically why when a great comedian tries their hand at drama, they make it look easy. Odenkirk, Louis CK, Robin Williams, freakin' Danny DeVito in "Jack the Bear"... It's also why Daniel Day Lewis has never hosted SNL.
The fact that Walt and Jesse's confrontation was filmed with Bryan Cranston not knowing Walt was in the wrong actually is super damn interesting to think about. I wholeheartedly believe we would've gotten a scene with quite a few small differences if that wasn't the case.

@@betterwatchtv I loved ‘Madrigal’ because I loved small subplots that turn into huge events, and how differently Lydia acts in that episode from BCS. Mike’s murder of Chris was definitely a kinda weird thing to watch at first, but after learning his role and the other scenes he’s in, it kinda felt like a ‘Thank you for paying attention’ from Vince. And I love ‘Confessions’ just because of that last scene. I still get goosebumps watching it. Edit: I also loved the focusing on Chow’s face during that scene. Mike did to Chris what Chris did to Chow. Like some weird ouroboros.
I like how walter’s whole plan revolves on the fact that jesse didn’t check the cigarettes right after leaving work, otherwise he would’ve known huell lifted it, i really wonder what walter’s reaction would be if jesse mentioned that he saw the cigarette after leaving the lab which means he knows huell lifted it.

Thank you so much!! Subscribing, watching, liking, and commenting are fantastic ways to support the channel! Especially since the subscriber count is what people seem to use to judge a channel's worth.
I love that nurse detail! These are the kind of obscure details I'm here for! Jesse slipping in that Brock was poisoned reminds me of when he told Tuco the new ingredient was chili powder. Walt was probably on the rooftop instinctively rolling his eyes with no idea why lol! Another reason Gus might have been suspicious was how calm Jesse was and the fact that he wasn't blaming him or Walt. He's seen how Jesse reacted to the involvement and death of a child before so this could have been an indicator that he was working against him with the only other logical suspect.
The stretch of episodes from Problem Dog thru Face Off is simply incredible! BTW, I was responding to a different comment of yours that disappeared, but thanks for the link! I plan on talking about how Walt could have done the poisoning in Face Off, as there's an incredible detail there that's good evidence for the scheme that Vince (and Murge) described!
0:38 , I find it interesting. Too little, too late, absolutely. But Walt is being genuinely humble in this scene. Unless its manipulation, however, someone like Marty Byrde from Ozark is actually doing this for his family unlike Walt.
Man it's so sad that this series is coming to an end. I really watched your channel grow over this series and your editing techniques getting better. But you already said after this will be better call saul details!

Yep, I do mention that in next week’s script! At the time of writing, they weren’t 100% sure they were going to get another season. (They knew by the time they filmed, though.) And I’ve picked up hints that *if* it needed to be the last episode, they were prepared to work in Hank finding out somehow.
@@betterwatchtv Thats the reason the beginning of season 5 felt pointless too me, like they had already concluded everything important, but I was wrong since season 5 turned out to be a way better ending, although much darker.
Everyone talks about Crawl Space and Face Off but never this, a shame because it really is a masterpiece alongside the other two Also at 9:45 I have to wonder, what did Tyrus think was going to happen? A question I audibly asked out loud when I first saw this scene
My theory is that the titles make a big difference. People immediately think of the amazing relevant scenes for Crawl Space and Face Off, but might have a hard time thinking about a single impactful moment when they think of End Times. It's why I think Bug gets overlooked in a string of incredible episodes from Problem Dog through the end of the season. The sniper scene is the memorable part of that episode! And yeah, even if Jesse didn't yell, that looks pretty bad in front of all those people!
@@betterwatchtv Every hospital scene in this and Face Off was so tense because of the setting, it was funny and relieving to see Tyrus be humbled here, little did I know about the bomb magnet accident next episode Also that's a good theory, I would've thought just from the title alone this would be a popular one " End Times " is probably the most big climax sounding title of the whole show
Gus didn't know anything. If he DIDN'T see the light reflect off of Walt's glasses and DID presume that he was lured there, then that's all it is - presumption, NOT knowledge.
The symbolism of Jesse and Gus in the hospital chapel, with Jesse having a light above his head (halo?) and Gus with the red stained glass (flames of hell?) behind him has always stood out to me.
@@betterwatchtv So many fantastic iconic actors in less than half a century were gone too soon. But we can appreciate that they were able to perform at all on camera for future generations to enjoy. 🥹
I love that they didn't end up explaining the mummified hand in BCS. They totally could've and it probably would've been funny, but I love that there's still just this crazy unexplained history to Saul, just like Lalo and Ignacio were before BCS.
So, I tried digging up more information about this while making this. Because, yes, I came to the conclusion that the floor was already like that. But in the DVD commentary (or maybe it was the insiders podcast), they said it was an intentional homage. My conclusion was that they intentionally featured them in the shot... but I admit it's kind of strange because it's not like they could really avoid shooting the tiles. I ended up just taking them at their word!
this might be a reach but whenever i watch this episode i notice that when jesse gets the call from andrea about brock, he’s fidgeting with his lighter and there’s big emphasis on that. this is also directly after the scene where skyler asks the guard for a cigarette. i feel like this is slight foreshadowing that the ricin cigarette will come into play this episode. can’t wait for face off !!
I was going to talk about it in To'hajiilee, as I believe him saying it there is evidence that he's reading from a script. That only leaves the one time: "You need me more than I need you, Walt." I know the subtitles claim that Jesse says "Hey, man, Walt, you did it" in Breakage, but I truly believe he's saying "Hey, man, well, you did it."
I love how no one believed Hank about Los Pollos Hermanos being a front. Just like how Lois Lane shook us Clark's confession of being Superman once. Just goes to show you how the truth may seem to far fetched sometimes.
i remember when i saw a theory that said gus secretly had animal control powers, and then at a certain point when walt is looking through the binoculars, as a hawk flies by, gus is seeing through its eyes and spying on walt. lmfao.
Best part: Drug sniffing Dogs don't work, the cop just yanks on the leash when he feels like it and declares the dog found something, giving them the excuse to search the place for real. A) You can't ask the dog and B) he could side with his partner and lie about it.
I remember first watching this and guessing it was Walt not from the plant or Huell, but from the Walt and Jesse scene when he said “Why would I do this?” and I thought for this reason. What do you make of the birds around the times of endings and death? I’ve never heard anyone talk about this. A bird flaps by the Laundromat when Gomie talks to Dennis (The Laundromat is soon to be destroyed and Gomie and Dennis both end up dying) A bird flies in front of Gus, Tyrus and Chris as Walt looks through the binoculars (Gus and Tyrus die in the next episode and Chris dies early in Season Five) In later episodes - Say My Name: Mike sits under dual overpasses as he phones Walt, Jesse and Saul and a bird flies over him (Mike dies this episode) Ozymandias: When Jesse is about to be shot, he looks up to two birds - perhaps to symbolise Hank and Gomie and how he’s in danger of joining them. Maybe these are all coincidences, but they all seem to happen at poignant points.
That's really interesting! I've always thought of them as coincidences! Especially because I don't *think* they brought in birds or did any kind of CGI birds...
I do wonder what gus was thinking when jesse wouldnt sign off on the killing... my guess is that he ordered men to scare walt (the onrs in ambush) either by roughing him up or just appearing as a reminder if he messes with him, gus would return the favor.
Maybe. Also, by that point Walt broke the agreement because he interfered with Gus dealing with Hank! But yeah, I still don’t think he would have killed him due to Jesse.
@betterwatchtv I think gus was ready to start increasing focus on walt after the suprise dea visit... but if he signed off on killing walt he would not have bothered calling jesse.. ignore gus tone and he is kinda submissive to jesse asking in a way his permission to do what he wants
I always assumed Gomey was so awkward in that scene because he was on a good old fashioned knock-and-talk. And he was never very good at those...

Yeah, if Bryan knew, he probably wouldn’t have delivered the “ten steps” line the same way!
these always come out just as i get off work, love them
Nice!!
8:17 one of countless little touches that make these so darn fun to watch
Haha, thanks!! I try!
Another great episode! Love from Texas!
Thanks! I was just in Dallas about 2 weeks ago!
If I'm going to be honest, your videos have been so helpful to me. I have terrible depression and I've been forsaken by so many people in my life, all I have to enjoy and love is the internet. Your videos give me something entertaining and it helps me get away from my terrible life. Thank you man.
I'm so sorry to hear that, but thankful I can help in some small way! May you find better people to surround yourself with who deserve your time and attention!
Still not missing an upload, bro keep em coming, loving the content.... Also WALTUHHHH
Thank you! It definitely was tricky as tomorrow's the last day of a 2-week vacation AND I just got sick but I'm determined to still get Face Off out on time!
Honestly one of the most underrated BB episodes. My other favorites would be ‘Confessions’ and ‘Madrigal’.
Wow, interesting choices!! It says something about the quality and consistency the show when people have so many different favorites! (Also, first! )
Love it. Yeah, the Chris reuse is cool, and I do love how Confessions so cleverly warps things!!
Hello from Germany btw ^^
I love all these references in BB and BCS :D
Awesome! Another representative from Germany! 🇩🇪 Thanks for becoming a member!!
Great point! If Jesse had thought of it, he should have pretended that he checked after work!
9:49 mike also tell tyrus "if gus has a problem he can come to me himself" in better call saul. around the time lalo is in albuqurque.
Oh yeah!! I'll try to remember to bring this up when I get to that BCS episode! Thanks!
he didn't have to know it was a trap, he just had to think it might be a trap
Great point! I guess “know” and “knew” are too strong!
it's great seeing your channel grow so much, especially the amount of members
even though i probably won't be one i just wanna say that your videos always make my day and i appreciate the thorough research you do on these
keep up the amazing work 🙏
Thank you so much!! Subscribing, watching, liking, and commenting are fantastic ways to support the channel! Especially since the subscriber count is what people seem to use to judge a channel's worth.
I'm finally a channel member:
It took me til the end of season four:
Thanks for joining!!
This is my personal favorite episode (after watching the show three times)
I dont think its the one witch is objectivly best but I really like it.
Makes sense! Thanks!
I think the amount of members you have just shows how underrated your channel is!
Thank you, and thanks for becoming a member!!

im honestly kinda glad i stumbled across this channel, absolutely perfect to binge watch for some reason
Awesome! I'm *very* glad you found it! My goal was indeed to make the videos binge-able!
Oh wow, I’ve never really thought that hard about why Gus stops and turns… that makes perfect sense! Man i love this show and channel 🫶
Nice!! Thanks!
Haha, yeah! That's a very good point. Gus could have been thrown off by his overall vibe in addition to anything specific about the poisoning.
It feels like forever when watching the entire episodes of Season 4. This goes to show how goated Breaking Bad is.
I was hoping for you to mention that the scene where Jesse holds the gun to Walts head is an homage to the classic moment from Reservoir Dogs.
Ah, good call out! Thanks!
0:38 , I find it interesting. Too little, too late, absolutely. But Walt is being genuinely humble in this scene. Unless its manipulation, however, someone like Marty Byrde from Ozark is actually doing this for his family unlike Walt.
Yeah. I do think it’s genuine, though! And it seems like he’s waiting to die while in his backyard before he gets the idea!
The comparisons between BB and Ozark are so fascinating.
Yeah!
Man it's so sad that this series is coming to an end. I really watched your channel grow over this series and your editing techniques getting better. But you already said after this will be better call saul details!
Thank you!! Yes, so we’re not even half-way there! (Even Breaking Bad Hidden Details has 4 more months! )
Finally after years of watching youtube I joined my first membership!! Love your videos, I was shocked to find out you don't have at least 500k. The stuff you're making is 99.9% pure!
Aww, thanks so much!! I really appreciate it! And that's a great compliment! 🧊🧊🧊
fun fact for face off!! it was meant to be a series finale im pretty sure.
Your videos are so unbelievably good. Also with the subtitles!! Love it
Thanks! I'm glad you noticed. I spend a lot of time on the subtitles, because it's important!
Oh no! I just finished binge watching the entire playlist now I have to wait :( These are so great! Love the insights on all of the BTS stuff!
Well I'm glad you found the channel! Maybe you'll enjoy the weekly cadence!
Damn right that phone was loud. Maybe I should go back and count every time that sound effect is used.
Haha. It does sound like just about every phone from that era!
Finally, someone makes sense of why Gus did what he did. That's it, no other explanation. Bravo
Thank you!!
Everyone talks about Crawl Space and Face Off but never this, a shame because it really is a masterpiece alongside the other two
Also at 9:45 I have to wonder, what did Tyrus think was going to happen? A question I audibly asked out loud when I first saw this scene
My theory is that the titles make a big difference. People immediately think of the amazing relevant scenes for Crawl Space and Face Off, but might have a hard time thinking about a single impactful moment when they think of End Times. It's why I think Bug gets overlooked in a string of incredible episodes from Problem Dog through the end of the season. The sniper scene is the memorable part of that episode!
And yeah, even if Jesse didn't yell, that looks pretty bad in front of all those people!
@@betterwatchtv Every hospital scene in this and Face Off was so tense because of the setting, it was funny and relieving to see Tyrus be humbled here, little did I know about the bomb magnet accident next episode
Also that's a good theory, I would've thought just from the title alone this would be a popular one " End Times " is probably the most big climax sounding title of the whole show
Yeah, I think in retrospect the episode just gets viewed as the setup for Face Off!
Gus didn't know anything. If he DIDN'T see the light reflect off of Walt's glasses and DID presume that he was lured there, then that's all it is - presumption, NOT knowledge.
Okay, that's a good point! Although "How Gus Knew" sounds better than "How Gus Presumed" or "Why Gus Turned Around" 😆
The symbolism of Jesse and Gus in the hospital chapel, with Jesse having a light above his head (halo?) and Gus with the red stained glass (flames of hell?) behind him has always stood out to me.
That's interesting! I never picked up on that!
@@betterwatchtv there is a good amount of symbolism in the show but way more in BCS.
BTW, great channel!! Keep up the hard work.
Thank you!!
Finally someone explains why Gus turned away from his car with a believable answer! Makes perfect sense
Happy to help!
I always thought the song at the beginning of this video and in this episode was so perfect so eerie and fits the episode
Yeah! I love it so much!
Although my all-time favorite song has got to be “Goodbye” in the next episode…
@@betterwatchtv I was thinking of the song Black at the end of Face Off
Oh, interesting! That’s a good one, too!
Seeing Walter on top of a city's roof reminds me of 2008 The Dark Knight. Rest in peace, Heath Ledger.
Ah, yes! RIP 🙏
@@betterwatchtv So many fantastic iconic actors in less than half a century were gone too soon. But we can appreciate that they were able to perform at all on camera for future generations to enjoy. 🥹
Well said.
I love that they didn't end up explaining the mummified hand in BCS. They totally could've and it probably would've been funny, but I love that there's still just this crazy unexplained history to Saul, just like Lalo and Ignacio were before BCS.
Yeah, maybe if it was less subtle, they would have felt compelled to give it a backstory!
9:20 No those tiles are not intentional, that is just the tile pattern that is on the floor at Gibson Medical Center. Just a coincidence.
Those are really interesting details! Maybe it is foreshadowing! And thanks for becoming a member!!
Season 4 is the best season of breaking bad, nothing else compares to how perfect the arc was written
Most people seem to agree with you (based on a poll I did awhile back)!
Gus and his criminal empire feels like a final boss for the series finale. Did Giancarlo Esposito won an Emmy or was nominated?
Nominated but never won (same as Bob Odenkirk). 😔
what an amazing episode! I didnt even remember it being this dramatic! Also well done with the video!!
Thanks! Yeah, lots of tension! (Although I think I magnified it with the pacing of the edits I did to the initial Jesse/Andrea scene!)
One of my fav episode, can't wait for face off
Nice
My Day just got better! 🔥🔥
Awesome, thanks!!
I'm surprised you've never mentioned how Jesse calls Walt by his first name when they're disagreeing , and Mr. White when they're getting along.
I was going to talk about it in To'hajiilee, as I believe him saying it there is evidence that he's reading from a script. That only leaves the one time: "You need me more than I need you, Walt."
I know the subtitles claim that Jesse says "Hey, man, Walt, you did it" in Breakage, but I truly believe he's saying "Hey, man, well, you did it."
welp, i’m all caught up with your series! i’m seriously considering becoming a member for those early episodes
Nice!! 💥
I love how no one believed Hank about Los Pollos Hermanos being a front. Just like how Lois Lane shook us Clark's confession of being Superman once. Just goes to show you how the truth may seem to far fetched sometimes.
Yeah, well said!
I’m currently sick but this made my day better great work man ❤️
Me too!! 😷🤒 I’m happy to provide a tiny bit of relief!
Love your content. Can't wait till next week!
Thank you! I can't wait either! 💥
i remember when i saw a theory that said gus secretly had animal control powers, and then at a certain point when walt is looking through the binoculars, as a hawk flies by, gus is seeing through its eyes and spying on walt. lmfao.
also, mineral was ROBBED. rocky does NOT count, haha.
Haha, the animal control theory is wild! Yeah, had I known how this would end up, I wouldn't have counted Rocky!!
Walten: “Why did you stop”
Because, the poisonings suspisios
Best line in TV
Best part: Drug sniffing Dogs don't work, the cop just yanks on the leash when he feels like it and declares the dog found something, giving them the excuse to search the place for real.
A) You can't ask the dog and B) he could side with his partner and lie about it.
If I had a dollar for every German reference in breaking bad…
Hank: let’s just take this down a notch
Another Sunday night, another breakdown. Hell yeah, feels good to follow this series religiously
It feels good to have you here!
new viewer, just finished binging the other episodes, very well timed upload
Wow, awesome! Thanks for doing that and being here!
Well, you just made me buy my first Membership ever. Congrats. 🎉
Woo-hoo!! Thanks so much!
amazing work as always
Thanks, Liściu!!
I remember first watching this and guessing it was Walt not from the plant or Huell, but from the Walt and Jesse scene when he said “Why would I do this?” and I thought for this reason.
What do you make of the birds around the times of endings and death? I’ve never heard anyone talk about this.
A bird flaps by the Laundromat when Gomie talks to Dennis (The Laundromat is soon to be destroyed and Gomie and Dennis both end up dying)
A bird flies in front of Gus, Tyrus and Chris as Walt looks through the binoculars (Gus and Tyrus die in the next episode and Chris dies early in Season Five)
In later episodes - Say My Name: Mike sits under dual overpasses as he phones Walt, Jesse and Saul and a bird flies over him (Mike dies this episode)
Ozymandias: When Jesse is about to be shot, he looks up to two birds - perhaps to symbolise Hank and Gomie and how he’s in danger of joining them.
Maybe these are all coincidences, but they all seem to happen at poignant points.
That's really interesting! I've always thought of them as coincidences! Especially because I don't *think* they brought in birds or did any kind of CGI birds...
@@betterwatchtv It’s hard to say, but they didn’t have to choose those takes.
True...
This has to be the most concise explanation of how Gus decided not to go to his car 😮💨
Thanks! I always try to be concise!
Only Walt outsmarted Gus. Lalo came close but Gus was one step ahead of him.
Yep!
