Hope you all enjoy this in-depth look into the world of Gene Takovic. It almost feels like it became a different show towards the end, but still maintained that same level of quality. I like that you chose to put a 0 in place of the o in “other” in your name, kinda like the opposite situation involving “Genes” social security number.
@@ApostateSublimeHoly shit, nice fuckin’ call, man! That scene with the front desk lady at the hospital was so tense and for a lot of us, we could relate to the hassle that happens in these sorts of situations (mistakes with data entry, computer programs freezing up, etc, in a medical or professional environment), so we could completely understand Jimmy’s/Saul’s/Gene’s dry mouth fear of being exposed, on top of the basic annoyance and frustration that comes with the lady entering an O rather than the 0 (on a bloody social security number- key word, number).
My two favourite montages were Jimmy leaving Davis & Main, with the brightly coloured 'dancing' car lot 'dolls' inspiring him with his suits, and the use of 'Big Rock Candy Mountain' in the lab excavation shots. Just brilliant!!
I think mine would have to be the “Something Stupid” montage. Watching Jimmy and Kim slowly drift apart without a single line of dialogue was heavy stuff. And the cover of that song is brilliant.
Yeah, the woman is unparalleled. Just to give the highlights (and not at all an exhaustive list of her awards and achievements): 18 golden globe nods, with 7 wins. 3 Grammy nods with 1 Win, likewise for her Tony record. A SAG lifetime achievement award. A fucking insane 23 Emmy nominations, for 6 wins over her career. A Mark Twain Prize for American Comedy. Not to mention being the first winner of "The Golden Globe Carol Burnett Award," a lifetime achievement award in television, literally named for her. Seriously, there is no one else like her. Had that queen achieved 1/10th of what she did, she'd have lived a life 99.9% of us would deeply envy. Honestly, what a woman, there is no one else like her.
32:57 Good job. You are like the first video essay ever who didn’t take side with Kim in this conversation. Everyone else all chastised Jimmy as an absolute villain in this scene even though what he said was right and Kim herself knew it. That’s why I think this scene 33:41 and the scene when Mike visited Nacho’s dad are the most important scenes of the whole show because they are meant to disillusion the audience from their favorite characters’ actions. The audience have a quite well-balanced opinions on Jimmy and Walter because the shows never fail to remind us that they are bad guys but not the same for Mike and Kim, who are the most loved characters of the franchise. These scenes are crucial to remove the bias.
Thank you! Yeah I think Gene's question is more than fair. Completely agreed with your assessment on those scenes as well. As said in a couple of these analysis videos, I think the morality exists on a spectrum and really the majority of characters in these shows have a bad trait/something to feel guilty about.
@@That0therGeorge I don’t like Jesse that much, to be honest. I have seen so many people blame Walter for the planes crash (which is true because he was 50% responsible for it by watching Jane die) but chose to forget that the reason Jane got herself back to drug addiction in the first place was because of Jesse. Before she met him, she was sober. Jesse got her high again. I become Chuck McGill every time there are some characters who got a free pass too much more than they deserve just because they are likable characters. “But not our Kimmy/ Mikey/ Jesse, couldn’t be precious Kimmy/ Mikey/ Jesse.”
@@nont18411I don’t think Jesse was really responsible for Jane’s relapse. I mean, he wanted her to leave when he was going to get high as a result of Combo’s death. She later shows up with drugs and there’s nothing to indicate he asked her to get him any kind of drugs. He has meth and weed, but she introduces him to heroine. Seems like she wanted to help Jesse grieve because of the loss of his friend and knowing he he’s done drugs, she brings him drugs and does them with him. This obviously isn’t good for Jane to do, but I don’t recall a scene where he asks Jane to get him anything regarding getting him drugs or anything of the sort, deleted or otherwise. She leaves, but then goes back to him and Jesse knows she is in recovery, hence why he wants her to leave as he doesn’t want her to relapse. Now, Walt is primarily responsible for the bulk of horrible things that happened due to his pride, ego and wanting of power. Not to say Jesse is blameless, but the series shows that at the end of the day Jesse is essentially a good guy who got involved with the wrong people and Walt was likely always like what we saw him at his worst, he just suppressed it as long as he could until his cancer diagnosis.
@Jared_Wignall I think nacho is the only one who is truly good (and Jessy after elcamino) Because they learn there mistake with the game and try to escape from it, and for both of them they didn't have the free will to go out for the most of bb/bcs
@@JoeyDoesStuff1120 I don't really have a sweet tooth, but I thought it was quite nice. I'd be interested to know how it compares to the ones made in America.
I'm starting to think Jimmy was smarter than Walt, at least in street smarts and common sense. Better call Saul. Walter couldn't have made it without him
walter was literally a chemistry teacher and not scumbag who grew up in the streets and just the experience of being a scum doing scummy shit lmao his name was slippin jimmy ffs
@@8-leggedcatBut that recklessness is what made watching BB so fun. BCS took forever to get going, while they dangle the BB Easter eggs to keep people watching
Thank you! Don't you worry, that was purely intentional. I don't consider 'Saul Gone' to be a Gene Takovic episode, so I feel it deserves its own video project. It should be arriving sometime in the near future.
There's something really poetic about Walt and Jimmy both using the vacuum cleaner's service, and both of them being unable to stay there. I don't think Jesse had the same problem because Jesse was able to find closure before he left. If Jesse got in the van the first time, he probably would have ended up back in Albuquerque just like Walt and Jimmy did.
Very good point. Jesse tied up all loose ends before he left and even got somewhat of a final 'goodbye' with his family. There was nothing for him after that. Walt obviously had more motivation to return. And Jimmy simply missed the game.
29:50 You absolutely nailed it because I felt the same way watching that montage, just empty and disappointed. So many of the previous montages were upbeat and showed how clever Jimmy/Saul was in executing his scams. But that one was so depressing, not only because of Gene throwing his life away, but also how despicable that particular scam was. He was essentially poisoning these guys, breaking into their homes and stealing all of their finances
Does anyone think it odd that Chuck mentioned The Carol Burnett show in a flashback? And then Carol Burnett turns Saul in? Too bad Kim never rented "This Is Spinal Tap" from Blockbuster. That would have been interesting. Lol
@@That0therGeorge I read somewhere that she is a fan of both shows. She requested to be in the show, so they made a role for her. She's been around forever. My parents watched her when they were little kids.
@That0therGeorge Given what a fucking force she is in TV I'm not shocked Vince and Peter would have referenced her. In fairness, even if I somehow made a show as good as BrBa then topped it with BCS, I'd still doubt I'd be luck enough to land that queen. Give how clear it is Vince and Peter are TV obsessives, them landing her must have been a dream come true. I mean the woman is unparalleled. I finally got around to watching BCS and can binge all your videos on it. Top tier content as always, man. I'm so happy to see this series taking off, you deserve it.
23:59 Actually, Saul wasn’t optimistic either. He was all a mask to hide his pain from losing Chuck, Howard and Kim and all of those trauma he experienced from the cartel. Actually, Gene is more of a true self for him than Saul. He didn’t have to pretend to be happy.
That's an interesting take, but I'm not sure I'd agree with that completely. Jimmy and Saul both had bubbly personalities and, for the most part, Saul didn't seem to have too much to worry about until he met Walter. I think the guilt of Chuck and Howard caught up with him, but I wouldn't say he was traumatised for all that time between 2003 - 2010. Otherwise, he probably would have left Albuquerque and the law behind.
@@That0therGeorge Saul didn’t have too much to worry about before he met Walter because he still had the law as a distraction from his grief in a daily basis (the same way Chuck kept going because he still had his career as a stone to lean on, until Chicanery and malpractice insurance cancelled). Walter set things in motion and put Jimmy’s life back in danger again.
@That0therGeorge no need to thank me. I don't want to speak for everyone, but i feel safe saying thank YOU for sharing this amazing labour of love with us. I cannot imagine how much work goes into making these.
Absolutely brilliant video. The story telling is top notch and seeing this with only 791 really makes me sad, but if you keep up, I'm sure that you're going to grow an audience in no time! keep up the good stuff and take care
Thank you so much for saying this, you have made my day! Don't worry, I'm not going to give up because of a lower view count, I enjoy talking about media way too much to quit. Thanks again and hope to see you about in the future.
James McGill almost reminds me of theon Greyjoy in a weird way. Saul was charismatic and a bit full of himself but became a reek character (depressed, lost, a bit strange) but was made whole again in the end
Great analysis of Gene Takovic. Vince Gilligan, Peter Gould, Bob Odenkirk and the writers involved did a great job of showcasing Saul’s life after Breaking Bad starting the first five seasons of Better Call Saul where we primarily focus on Jimmy McGill before Saul Goodman appears as we know him. It’s nice to see four episodes that primary focus on Gene, one entirely dedicated to Gene while the last three focus on Gene while also going back to before, during and after the Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul timelines. I love how Bob Odenkirk basically gave three performances in the final season of Better Call Saul: Jimmy McGill, Saul Goodman and Gene Takovic. I love seeing the differences and similarity between the different personas he takes on, it really makes you appreciate the performance and character even more. It would be nice if Bob Odenkirk and the show as a whole would finally win an Emmy, but with the track record the show has had, I know to not get my hopes up for such a thing. Plus, a lot of great shows and films that get nominated for major awards don’t always win and in some cases those are the shows and films that are beloved the most as time goes on. Thank you for the video man, keep up the great work and take care!
Hello Jared, thank you so much for your kind comment and input. Yeah I think the show is perfectly structured with how it presents Jimmy, Saul and Gene. The opening of the first five seasons can almost act as 'teasers' but they really do establish a lot about his lifestyle post 'Breaking Bad'. Bob Odenkirk is a fantastic actor with a lot of a range. It was interesting seeing how much different he was in 'Nobody' compared to his TV roles. Honestly, I'm not too bothered about the awards. I would strongly argue that 'Better Call Saul' is the best written show of all time. Plenty of people agree with that and understand why. I personally think that means a lot more than any awards and hopefully the showrunners agree with that sentiment. Thank you very much again for the kind words, it was really nice reading this comment. Please feel free to comeback to the channel at any point to discuss anything media related, it would be great to see you here again in the future.
@@That0therGeorge will do! And I agree with you regarding the awards. Years from now, people will look back at Better Call Saul and see just how great it is and notice how it didn’t win the kind of awards one would think it would have received and those who put a lot of stock into awards hopefully will understand that they don’t mean a whole lot, especially when something that’s the best kept being overlooked for awards when you’d think it would win something.
@@That0therGeorge I saw Oppenheimer again before it left theaters and not too long ago I saw the original My Bloody Valentine as well the first four Friday the 13th films since last Friday was Friday the 13th. The song Jimmy on the Move was originally written for the Mission Impossible TV show. I like to think, including it might be a bit of a homage to the old classic.
@@That0therGeorge I don't think he was happy about being in prison. I think he was happy about doing right by Kim (otherwise he would have implicated Kim as a co-conspirator in the death of Howard) and possibly about having done the right thing and proving Chuck wrong.
@@realthursty4953 I think he is happier by comparison though. Everyone in there knows him and likes him. He doesn't have to hide who he is or live in fear like he did in Nebraska.
Jimmy was more of a free man in prison than he was as Gene. On the prison bus Saul was recognized and then realized that prison wouldn't be so bad because he was revered by the inmates. As Gene he constantly had to live in fear and look over his shoulder while on the run from the feds. Yeah he has to spend the rest of his life in prison but he was a free man. Free from all the burdens and the lie he was living, and that can be very liberating.
this is such a nice channel, the videos are top notch from editing to writing to audio quality. criminally underappreciated imo, I’ve seen much bigger video essay channels with little to no editing or original ideas. sincerely wish you all the growth and success you deserve
In BB, when talking to Mike, Saul said about Walter: "A man with such a Moustache is probably making not too many good life choices" Gene grew himself exactly that Moustache ...
He could of got a giant sticker made up to cover the logo, funny story I ran a Kmart snack bar from 2000-2006. when we switched to Pepsi in 2004 which is the reason Little Caesars had too, we had a Coca-Cola decals sticker on our back wall near the menu. the Pepsi reps said that's gotta go they have a 2 feet by 2 feet sticker made and covered it in less than a week.
I personally thought that they were amazing. They had a lot of the highest points of the entire show. It was always exciting seeing where Gene was at the start of every season, and the absence of one in season 6 only built hype for the end of the show. It was so heartbreaking seeing how sad Jimmy’s life had become, and it was such a smart idea from the creators to structure the show in this way. Honestly the last 3 episodes of the show was probably my favourite three episode run of the show. It was great seeing your analysis of the gene segments, I’ve been watching all your stuff since the bagman video.
@@RupertPeterson Completely agreed. I was a little bit taken back when Season 6 opened with almost a 'tour' of Saul's house, but you're right that it only further added to the hype. I was really hoping we would get 1 full black and white episode. I felt spoiled when we ended up getting 4. Appreciate all the kind words and for you sticking around since the Bagman video!
@@That0therGeorge My favorite has to be the one they help Huell avoid prison. Saul using his power for good was really nice. Or any other episode, their all my favorite tbh
Quite possibly. As I said I don't find it impossible to believe, it's just that the show has done so well in previous episodes to clear up any doubt/confusion that a viewer may experience. Where as Gene tracking down Marion isn't explained in 'Nippy'.
It's very easy to track a person in the US through public records. Jimmy is a lawyer, so he would know everything about it. He knew the person's name and the company he worked for. That's everything you need.
This video essay was absolutely phenomenal. BCS is my favorite show too (along with Bojack Horseman. Honorable mention because that show is brilliant.)
I hope at some point in your video, you address the contrast of the B&W openings with the "colorful" lawyer, Jimmy had decided to be. It was amazing that Saul actually became colorful not just as a lawyer of many resources, but in his outfits too.
Jimmy would be ok in Federal prison. He knows the law and could use that to a big advantage on the inside. He’d be the prison lawyer that inmates would rely on to get their sentences reduced.
Jimmy wears boring suits originally but they become increasingly colourful as he becomes Saul so Gene's monochrome life reflects the loss of that character.
10:46 I still dont know why Gene/Saul/Jimmy never practiced being a good denier of his past identity. He could have just been a bit more adamant and feigned ignorance of ever being in Albuquerque, or even knowing what the cabbie was talking about. He just.... wilted. Or maybe he just missed the old life so much that it naturally came back to him like muscle memory.
He probably realized that the guy knew exactly who he was, and there was no use denying it. He's seen his face on TV, billboards, bus benches, even match books. Plus he was probably caught off gaurd
The thing that I don’t understand is with all the money that Saul made why was he living so rough he had a sack of diamonds that he could’ve cashed in at any time so that’s why Miah didn’t make sense for him to rip people off and get caught. Also him trying to blackmail Jeff because they stole some clothes when Saul was involved in the murder of two DEA agents and Crystal meth jeff would’ve got to get out of jail free card for turning saul in no problem. Apparently, when they switched out the actors for Jeff, they re-wrote the ending and I do believe something much cooler was originally planned. They built some great mythology up around Jean over multiple seasons of flashbacks and honestly, it was a letdown.
I believe the idea was for him to blend in as much as possible. The diamonds were simply a back-up plan if he needed to move again. So he could sell x amount of them, pay Ed and be relocated for the second time (prices doubles with each change of identity and location). Him getting back in the game with Jeff I feel was never about the money, it was a lot more about re-living the thrills he had with Marco.
Thank you so much David, I'm glad you enjoyed. I wasn't too sure what people would make of the length of the video. Would you like to see more long-form projects like this one?
Gene never had a chance at happiness. Jimmy's only chance at true happiness was Kim's respect, and the only path to that was coming clean. Gene can't come clean, only Jimmy can. It reminded me of Anakin's story in Star Wars, except, you know, good.
I didn't go through every comment so someone might've already pointed at it, but you made a mistake on M:I-Fallout: Ethan shot Luther himself and on purpose. They threatened Luther's life so Ethan removed it from the equation by shooting Luther himself knowing he was wearing a bulletproof vest. Other than that, it was a great essay. Thank you for the work you put in. Cheers from France! 🍻
I'll have to re-watch the scene, but you could be right there, my bad if I got that wrong. Thank you for the kind words on the video regardless. And I've been to France many times, love it there! Have a great rest of your day.
@@That0therGeorge Gene's fake mental breakdown when Jeff stolen goods remind me of Steve Carrell as Brick Tamland in Anchorman 2. When he's speaking and breakdown on his funeral 😆 Both Bob Odenkirk and Steve both have a same voice.
The only pet peeve I have with the whole Gene Takovic thing is that The whole “Gene being in Nebraska” thing was solely to subvert our expectations and has no payoff to the plot. The show teased us over and over that Jimmy went to the same place as Kim’s hometown. Did he want to see Kim again but since Ed chose the place for him, is he being set up by Ed? And for what purpose? How much did Ed know about Jimmy and Kim’s relationship? It was huge discussion for so many years and the answer is “Nah, it means nothing. Kim is not even in Nebraska. She’s in Florida.” Actually, Jimmy doesn’t even know that Kim was born in Nebraska and I think he never will.
You aren't incorrect, but I'm not sure I agree that there really needs to be a pay-off for it. I liked the Jesse pay-off of him choosing Alaska because it would also be Mike's choice, but there wasn't any reason for Walt to go to New Hampshire specifically and I don't feel that is a bad thing, same with Gene. There's a chance Jimmy and Kim would've talked about it at some point, but yeah we never saw that conversation in the show.
@@That0therGeorge The New Hampshire thing for Walter is fine because it was supposed to get him off the grid and it didn’t have that much significance to the plot. The Nebraska thing is different because the show kept showing Kim’s Nebraska flashback to us and even went overboard in the very first scene of the show with the song “Address Unknown” “From the place of your birth (Kim was born in Nebraska), to the end of the earth, I’ll (Jimmy) search only to find only to find address unknown (Omaha, Nebraska)” So the reveal that it’s all a red herring kinda bummed me out with all those set ups. They could have Kim be someone from Florida and the plot will have no difference. In fact, I think Florida will give a better context too because it will show that Kim had to go back to work in a place that gave her so many bad memories. That’s why she’s miserable. Instead, it’s just Kim working in another state randomly.
There's a line in Breaking Bad where Saul says "best case scenario, I'm a manager at a Cinnabon in Omaha". I think the writers decided to turn that joke into a real setting in BCS
Jesse requested to go to Alaska if i recall. Always thought that omaha was too close to Albuquerque. They're probably 800 miles away or something but considering where walt and jesse went...
Mate I'm so glad your amazing analysis of this character and show has somehow caught my eye tonight (uk), bringing back memories of watching both shows!! Keep up the great work fella!! 🍻🍻🍻💯💯👏👏👏💪💪💪
36:00 im pretty sure this is jeff trying to cause a distraction for saul to leave the house without problems instead of just a lazily written way for jeff to get caught
It’s like I’m one of their meth junkies with how bad I want the breaking bad universe to continue. I know deep down that both shows have been masterpieces. The only routes they have left are Mike in Philadelphia (which seems quite shallow) and Gus in South America. I don’t think they’ll do it ever but damn this was a good series.
I'm sort of with you on that. Asking for 5-6 seasons of another spin-off is a lot to ask, but I think they should maybe consider doing one-off mini series for some of the other characters in that universe. Either way, I'm more than happy with what we got.
@@That0therGeorge i guess my point is... this is what i liked about Saul and people in general, when they go the extra mile for others, Sad story, noble guy gets 86 years, cuz again he just wanted to set things right
I’d argue that Gene not telling Jeff how found out who his mother was and where she lives was a smart decision because Gene wouldn’t want to give info/advice to someone if doesn’t know he can trust, and someone who he wants to fear him.
I never understood why Gene didn't just threaten Jeff and his mom right away. He knows that Saul is a wanted man with nothing to lose, who traveled across the country to escape the law. Not to mention he is connected to some of the most dangerous people in the world. Sure, he doesn't look dangerous, but neither did Walter.

I've always wondered if Cinnabon sponsored Better Call Saul, or if the show paid to have them around. Like, since it's a vital plot point, which way does it go? 'Cause it's not a regular sponsorship.
@@That0therGeorge That does make more sense. I've just thought about if the writers would ever include an extra scene using the Cinnabon set or references last minute, and the franchise was ever like "ugh we gotta pay them AGAIN" lol.
Hey, humor me on this one... probably the only glitch in the whole show. How did Mike know where the colombians would attack Jimmy, with the 7M usd bags...???????
I think Howard’s wife was full of crap. She didn’t care about Howard. She was going to divorce him. It was like someone throwing something away and somebody goes “you throwing that away?” Then the person about to the object decides to ask for money for it
I would disagree with that. Their marriage was clearly never very strong (which would explain why she was never present in earlier seasons), however I believe she was genuinely mortified over the death.
I thought Better Caul Saul was a fantastic show. I think it’s interesting you refer to the Disney Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series in your review because I also think Star Wars has been ruined by awful backstory movies and television programs that just don’t give us an interesting story, or characters or honor the canon of what Star Wars is in the first place. Vince Gilligan should have been hired to help George Lucas write the prequel trilogy and any shows that took place in and around those six Star Wars movies because it would have been so much better that what we have today. Anyway, while I thought Better Call Saul was great, the final four episodes were so depressing to watch, I haven’t been able to watch them again. I really hoped something better for Jimmy to happen, but it wasn’t meant to be.
Anybody else wish the 'device' from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind existed so you could watch Breaking Bad, El Camino and (especially, as I think it surpassed BB in terms of storytelling!) Better Call Saul afresh?!
Absolute worst recasting I’ve ever seen. Jeff, that is. His initial appearance was spot on. He came off as off putting and invasive. The recast was the complete opposite. The recast was a completely different character with a completely different personality and demeanor. I feel like Jeff was an instance where the show runner’s need to constantly call back was a detriment to the whole Breaking Bad universe. It’s the one time that I was completely pulled out of the story. I understand why they did it but they really should have just written a new story thread rather than orchestrating a convoluted plot line where he “loses” Nippy and dupes Jeff’s mom. The time wasted constructing this poorly conceived plot line could’ve been better spent writing new characters that would’ve expanded the storyline more organically.
No, I agree. The ending after the midseason break was really poor. It doesn’t make sense that Saul Goodman would confess and get more jail time although maybe I’ll entertain it however, Saul was shown with lots of money and a bag of diamonds that he could’ve cashed in at any time so we didn’t need to rip people off for money threatening jeff to keep quiet for some stolen clothes when he knew the location of somebody involved in the murder of 2DEA agents he could’ve traded to get out of jail free card for soul at any time no problemwe were immersed in the world and those episodes like he said, sucked us out of it. They were not well thought out they were pointless. They stood on their own almost without needing to watch the entire rest of both series. It was not time. Well spent maybe if there was a flashback in another season and these were the episodes it would’ve been OK, but not the very last handful of episodes.
what i think about how he found otu where did the cab guy lived is with his radio equipment, maybe he could, somehow, listed to the taxis radio signals or maybe he paid someone, id assume he still had the black book from the veterinarian

@@ApostateSublimeHoly shit, nice fuckin’ call, man!

Great job man, I was so hooked on this I was disappointed you didn't continue on to the end of the show, even though I've already watched it
Glad you picked up on it as well.
Does anyone think it odd that Chuck mentioned The Carol Burnett show in a flashback? And then Carol Burnett turns Saul in? Too bad Kim never rented "This Is Spinal Tap" from Blockbuster. That would have been interesting. Lol
Yeah I caught that too. I guess they never imagined they'd get Carol Burnett haha.
Just to give the highlights (and not at all an exhaustive list of her awards and achievements)
18 golden globe nods, with 7 wins.

@@plebisMaximus 'Chicanery' is a very good choice! I think a lot of people would agree with you on that
23:59 Actually, Saul wasn’t optimistic either.
I've never actually seen 'Game of Thrones', but your point about Jimmy going from Saul to Gene is spot on.
Interesting observation.
One of the best thing I've come across this month. Well done dude;
Thank you! Very kind of you to say.

Absolutely worth it.
He didn’t learn from Walter White, he learned from Kim, apply the best carrot and the best stick.
For Jimmy, being Gene Takovic was just as bad as being in prison.
Very true. Based on 'Saul Gone' he seemed a lot happier in prison.

Another great video, George.
Thank you! That really does mean a lot.
What is you opinion on the Gene Takovic episodes?

I think he may have learned how to do that from Mike. Track someone down.

It is indeed. Although I do now have an analysis of 'Saul Gone'.
Great video production
Thank you!
Jimmy would be ok in Federal prison. He knows the law and could use that to a big advantage on the inside. He’d be the prison lawyer that inmates would rely on to get their sentences reduced.
I think this is how a lot of people imagine things post-Saul Gone.
Jimmy wears boring suits originally but they become increasingly colourful as he becomes Saul so Gene's monochrome life reflects the loss of that character.
Yep, spot on.
That is literally a WWWWWQ
Awesome video as always, love your BCS content. It's my favorite show as well :-)

The only pet peeve I have with the whole Gene Takovic thing is that
The whole “Gene being in Nebraska” thing was solely to subvert our expectations and has no payoff to the plot.
She’s in Florida.”
Actually, Jimmy doesn’t even know that Kim was born in Nebraska and I think he never will.
The Nebraska thing is different because the show kept showing Kim’s Nebraska flashback to us and even went overboard in the very first scene of the show with the song “Address Unknown”
“From the place of your birth (Kim was born in Nebraska), to the end of the earth, I’ll (Jimmy) search only to find only to find address unknown (Omaha, Nebraska)”
So the reveal that it’s all a red herring kinda bummed me out with all those set ups. They could have Kim be someone from Florida and the plot will have no difference. In fact, I think Florida will give a better context too because it will show that Kim had to go back to work in a place that gave her so many bad memories. That’s why she’s miserable. Instead, it’s just Kim working in another state randomly.
@@nont18411kim basically disappeared herself
There's a line in Breaking Bad where Saul says "best case scenario, I'm a manager at a Cinnabon in Omaha". I think the writers decided to turn that joke into a real setting in BCS
Jesse requested to go to Alaska if i recall. Always thought that omaha was too close to Albuquerque. They're probably 800 miles away or something but considering where walt and jesse went...

I think Howard’s wife was full of crap. She didn’t care about Howard. She was going to divorce him. It was like someone throwing something away and somebody goes “you throwing that away?” Then the person about to the object decides to ask for money for it

Absolute worst recasting I’ve ever seen. Jeff, that is. His initial appearance was spot on. He came off as off putting and invasive. The recast was the complete opposite. The recast was a completely different character with a completely different personality and demeanor.

The script was written before the recast. So Jeff's original actor would have had to do the same things as Pat Healy
