Today I'm going to cover the #1 remedy for heartburn, GERD, and acid reflux.
We're told that the cause of acid reflux, heartburn, and GERD is too much acid. But, I've found that rather than the overproduction of acid, these issues are typically caused by an underproduction of acid.
Two main conditions cause low stomach acid: hypochlorhydria and achlorhydria. Symptoms of both these conditions include acid reflux, heartburn, and GERD.
Hydrochloric acid is there to help you break down food, absorb minerals and vitamins, and protect against pathogens. A deficiency in hydrochloric acid can lead to a myriad of health concerns.
One of the side effects of antacids or other acid-suppressing medications is a loss of stomach acid. This can temporarily cause someone to feel better but can lead to other health issues.
Top causes of low stomach acid:
    • Hypothyroidism
    • Poor diet
    • A suppressed immune system
    • Antacids
    • Low-salt diets
    • Potassium deficiency
    • Zinc deficiency
    • Iodine deficiency
    • Eating too frequently
Betaine hydrochloride is the best natural remedy for heartburn, GERD, and acid reflux. However, you shouldn't take it if you have an ulcer, and don't take betaine hydrochloride on an empty stomach. Consuming the Healthy Keto diet® and doing intermittent fasting may also be beneficial.

As a person diagnosed with gerd at 23, I can confirm that there is lots of contradicting advice out there on this health condition. It's almost like we have to choose between stomach or throat cancer. I am seeing more and more people with gerd (that had gerd for a long time) agree with the Dr. In this video. Moving from an acid blocker to an acid producer.
I also want to mention something that helped me immensely. My gerd is partially a result of untreated anxiety. Once I got a handle on my anxiety, majority of the symptoms went away. If you have gerd and are an anxious person/ over thinker. Please seek counseling, there might be a link there that most doctors miss. Lucky for me, mine struggled with the same issue and was able to assist accordingly.
To my fellow gerd patients - Everything will be ok. You are just on a journey of listening to your body ❤

This is false , if you have gerd, acid reflux, and the doctor prescribes you a proton pump inhibitor, that medication basically stops your stomach lining from making a lot of acid, then why do people feel instantly relieved?

    • @jefferytrapani9700
      @jefferytrapani9700 5 месяцев назад

It is studied by them. They don't want it to go away. They want people on acid blockers for the rest of their life to make profit. Acid blockers were approved y the FDA with the understanding they would be prescribed for a few months due to the side effects. etc. But that is not what happened. Some people are on it for years because the drugs increase what caused the problem- low stomach acid. The doctors took "the wrong solution for the wrong problem" as he says in the video.

Best information I’ve seen amazing video. So for context I’m from London I’m 31 years old my symptoms started 2 years ago with chronic acid reflux and ingestion since then I’ve made my lifestyle changes like no Alcohol or liquor for you Americans no high fat foods and dairy products. Since then the reflux has gone but I’m left with chronic ingestion witch can last up to 10 - 12 hours it’s Radom sometimes I’ll eat the same foods one day it’s fine then not ok the next . I’ve been to the doctors first thing was PP1 medication witch luckily I learnt very quickly what it dose to you over long periods of time so I stopped within a month even tho it did help . Then I went for an Endoscopy , blood tests , stool sample , Ct scan , ultrasound all came back fine . So then the doctor tried to put me back on ppi witch i refused and asked if I could have a PH test done as I suspected I have a low PH the doctor told me that they wouldn’t test my PH because that’s only for people with no stomach then asked me if I have a degree in medicine because unfortunately this doctor didn’t know what I was talking about it’s a sad day when you know more then a doctor. So recently I’ve started to take L glutamine , prebiotic and digestive enzymes I’m hoping this will fix the problem but I wasn’t aware of betaine hydrochloride so now I’m thinking I’ll start that any other advice I’d appreciate it all the best to people suffering with this it’s no way to live make sure to get the right help and information and don’t trust these doctors nothing but glorified drug dealers .

I was in ICU due to severe gastritis and ulcer I didn't know about I was battling for more than year after first hospitalization.
I searched for different types of specialist from neuro to cardio as I was having terrible migranes and chest pains, EEG, ECG and CT scan were normal. Took every medicine did all the tests that doctor and I both prescribed. I came to know about cervical spondylosis after I decided to go for MRI so I thought maybe I have figured it out.
But one day after cholesterol fasting as soon as I completed my blood test the breathing problems appeared again like in first hospitalization.
Before being hospitalized first time I was healthy and suddenly one day I got fever that came at night, my medications made things worse.
Only after second hospitalization I got endoscopy then things start to become clear. Then again chest pain, wrist pain, leg pain with chest spasm and palpitations start to occur more,
Now I know its because of esophagus spasm it feels like heart problem. After normal results of echo and TMT the picture became clear.
Watching this video is bringing me more insight into what went wrong the issue is due to low acid and not high acid.

Betaine HCL with pepsin is really helpful. But getting your diaphragm to work properly fixed it completely for me. Stretches both for mobility and strenghtening, and breathing exercises. And try not have bad posture, and be more active. Had extreme issues for a couple of years. These things reversed it. The sphincter is connected to the diaphragm. A weak, tense or damaged diaphragm, and the valve wont close properly.

@imhappy83 heartburn and indigestion. I take Thornes, from their website: Indigestion can be caused by many things - including inadequate amounts of hydrochloric acid (HCl) in the stomach. HCl secretion in the stomach does several positive things. It assists protein digestion by activating pepsinogen to pepsin, it renders the stomach sterile against ingested pathogens, it inhibits undesirable overgrowth in the small intestine, and it encourages the flow of bile and pancreatic enzymes.* Hydrochloric acid also facilitates the absorption of a number of nutrients, including folate, vitamin B12, ascorbic acid, beta-carotene, iron, and some forms of calcium, magnesium, and zinc.* Numerous studies have shown that hydrochloric acid secretion in the stomach begins to decline with advancing age. Overuse of antacids or acid blockers can also lead to low levels of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, which can result in poor protein digestion.*

I was diagnosed with GERDs when I was 18 yo(currently 39). I've been taking nexium for the past 20 years. It's the only medication I take and I would love to get off that. I'm going to start healthy keto, and fasting and hopefully be able to get off of it. I'm 5'8" and 248 lbs. I've watched a lot of Dr. Berg's videos lately and am really looking forward to starting this journey. It's never to late to start taking care of yourself the right way!

@@detraxop6680 Well I can tell you that I was able to stop taking Nexium by basically following his advice. Healthy Keto led to weight loss which lessened my reflux. Couple that with drinking apple cider vinegar daily and I was able to stop taking Nexium for the past 3 months. I had to take some the past 4 days because I haven't been able to sustain the diet(because I've been absurdly busy not because the diet wasn't sustainable), but today I started back on Keto and I'm positive that I can stop taking the medicine once my weight goes back down a bit.

I had surgery last year, was almost on antacid for an year. When I was off antacid I developed gerd, doc prescribed me PPI for 20 days, temporary relief but it came with constipation, bloating and restlessness. I started going on long walks, included yoga especially breathing excercises, with clean diet, I am feeling much better without medicine now.
Buttermilk, soaked raisins and soaked fennel seeds also helped I feel. My gerd came with insomnia, I try to be stress free, it is still work in progress. I am not on antacid or PPI currently, but feel much better, I still feel heartburn sometimes after eating food, but it is slowly coming down. I will not eat medicine for GERD anymore. Ayurveda has lot to offer on GERD, but you need patience to be on such restrictive diet for months.
