Strawberry Cherry Hand Pies

#handpie #pies #strawberrycherry #food Strawberry Cherry hand pies 🍓🍒I just picked some strawberries the other day and was thinking what I want to make with them, so I came up with strawberry cherry hand pies because who doesn't love a hand held pie!? I love strawberries and cherries, so what a beautiful combo in this!
This uses my always reliable and amazing pie crust.
Pie Crust:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup shortening
1 egg
1 tablespoon vinegar
5 tablespoons water
(optional 2 tablespoons sugar)
Filling:
2 cups fresh strawberries, diced
1 cup fresh cherries, diced
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons cornstarch
Cook until thickened, it will come together quickly, and set aside to cool.
Roll out crust to desired thickness. Cut out roughly 5 inches in diameter. Brush with egg wash and place around 2 Tablespoons of berry filling on each. Fold over the dough and crimp edges. Brush entire pastry with egg wash and cut a few slits in the top. Bake at 400° F for 20 -25 minutes.
