I remember during school days at lunchtime we skipped school dinners and went to a local cafe with a jukebox to play this record over and over again. Fantastic song and Paul Anka was the real deal and still is!
I was born in the 80's and raised by my Nana and Baba, the 50's and 60's have always made me feel happy and at home. my husband and kids think I'm crazy but they are coming around. This reminds me of being young, running around outside and being with the people who I love most.
Yes, this is original recording but, if only you can get this same recording on 'ERIC' records' on a 45 (a copy of which I once had), you will be amazed at how much better it sounds. I would love to hear that improved sound once again.

I was 3 when this came out. In 1959 when I was 5 I remember my sisters who were Seniors, bobbysocks and oxfords and all, playing this and "Put Your Head on My Shoulder" on 45 RPM records. That's taking a way back machine!
Paul was truly Original !! Paul had a feel like no other artist. He was right there will all of the other Greats for the Birth of Rock & Roll in 1957. I always hear this song on my grandma's radio before. I just came here again cause now I am 18 and a Caregiver I always hear this song sang by the elder that I care. I'm so happy.
Can recall this song from the earliest days of my youth growing up in the USA during the early 1960's......that saxophone riff is infectious.....unforgettable. Too, the guitar strum is wonderful...the baritone sax line is powerful. And, Paul Anka's voice is wonderful and sincere....
When about three years old and I happen to hear this Song Diana by pass, it was coming over somebody Radio and I stood near Fence and listened without even understanding the lyric of Song it stayed in the Core of my being, I love , love love I am never tired hearing it, I keep living it over and over even though I am a Grand mother. I am hooked.
I heard this story many years ago but did not know the young lady's name about whom the song was written. Ms. Ayoub may have been somewhat embarrassed by the song in her youth but surely must have embraced it in later years!
Mr.Lande, I am curious. How did you know the true story behind this song? Did you know Paul, Diana or any family members? I was in my second year of college when the song was released and was working during the summer as a life guard at one of our city's swimming pools. There was a juke box at the pool and teenagers were depositing money about every 15 minutes to play the song.

Paul Anka wrote this for this song for his babysitter. Whenever I hear this song It reminds me of Diana who lived in the apartment under me on Yucca St. in Hollywood back in the late '70s & early '80s. She ended up getting nominated for an Academy Award about 1980 and being costar for a film that is a cult favorite. Haven't seen her in a few years.
I was a kid listening to my older cousin's Paul Anka. I remember dancing in my room by myself when everybody else in the house was doing their own thing on a weeknight. This takes me back...

Paul Anka- Diana Lyrics
I'm so young and you're so old
This, my darling I've been told
I don't care just what they say
'Cause forever I will pray
You and I will be as free
As the birds up in the trees
Oh, please, stay by me, Diana
Thrills I get when you hold me close
Oh, my darling, you're the most
I love you but do you love me
Oh Diana, can't you see
I love you with all my heart
And I hope we will never part
Oh, please, stay with me, Diana
Oh my darlin', oh my lover
Tell me that there is no other
I love you with my heart
Oh-oh, oh-oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Only you can take my heart
Only you can tear it apart
When you hold me in your loving arms
I can feel you giving all your charms
Hold me darling, ho-ho-hold me tight
Squeeze me baby with a-all your might
Oh, please, stay by me Diana
Oh, please, Diana
Oh, please, Diana
Oh, please, Diana
