Mr.Lande, I am curious. How did you know the true story behind this song? Did you know Paul, Diana or any family members? I was in my second year of college when the song was released and was working during the summer as a life guard at one of our city's swimming pools. There was a juke box at the pool and teenagers were depositing money about every 15 minutes to play the song.

Can recall this song from the earliest days of my youth growing up in the USA during the early 1960's......that saxophone riff is infectious.....unforgettable. Too, the guitar strum is wonderful...the baritone sax line is powerful. And, Paul Anka's voice is wonderful and sincere....
Paul Anka wrote this for this song for his babysitter.
