    Very helpful review, the Queen of Tone sounds like a winner. I think I want it and a pair of those slippers you were wearing. Thanks!

      Its a great pedal - and it does have a less gainy overall mode too if you want to be abit more subtle. Its every bit as good as the protein and more flexible! These slippers have seen better days - typical guitarist 🤣

    That Queen of tone sounds easily as good as the protein

      Id find it very difficult to convince anyone the protein was worth the extra £230 thats for sure.
      But… there is such a thing as just enjoying having nice expensive things so….. different strokes for different folks haha.

    I have the NUX Tape Core as "spare delay".
    I mean the Knobs are a bit wobbly and it's probably not as indestructable as some other products but the sound can keep up with more expensive units.

      Yeh i see where your coming from - it does seem the with the vertugo* (dual pedal series) the quality of the pots and knobs, footswitch is a step up and not far off Strymon feel.

    For certain things it’s worth paying more, especially if a pedal is meticulously made. Things like the Bondi Squish AS, Life Support by Intensive Care Audio, the Demedash T120 DLX are all things that I believe are worth paying for more.
    Nux as a company is amazing and I direct anyone in a budget to them.

    I have a few of these on my wishlist, thanks for making the video as it is the exact sort of thing I wondered and the music I play

    What matters the most is just the amp, really.
    Drive pedals are mainly just tubescreamer, bluesbreaker, klon, rat, DS1, and fuzzface circuit.
    With reverb, delay and modulation you just need to find ones that have parameters that you need.

    Very interesting review 👍🏼. I thought the NUX effects held their own in many cases but not all, especially when played individually. The 'Analog delay' is an attempt at a replica (even down to the graphics) of the Ibanez/Maxon AD80 that was competing with the DM2/DM3. I used my brother's old one a lot before he sold it. It was a beautiful-sounding delay and needed 18v to power it. The NUX version comes nowhere near.

    Nux is definitely a fantastic "bang for your buck" brand. I'd rock Nux pedals proudly at a gig.

      Cheers man, hope your all doing well 🤘
      Yeh honestly the queen of tone in particular has great tone and way more versatile than a whole lot of dual drive pedals.

    Fantastic comparison Paul , Are you playing thru the Crunch channel on the Katana as yr base tone ? I actually preferred the Nux Drive tones , When you did Hendrix the more expensive pedals shone just that tad more , loved yr choice of tracks , made me want to play them myself , yr ambient sample was killer , loving yr eastcoast by the way Paul , i have a few DemonFx pedals that prob compare to Nux as well as the Nux Time Core , i really like the 65 overdrive !!

      @Paul-D  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks dude - yes crunch channel gain on 0. I find that channel takes pedals best BUT does have a little more gain as a base then id ideally like. Maybe demonfx is the next one to try!

      And the Sixty5ive overdrive is unreal value £40!!

  • @nostro1001
    @nostro1001 5 месяцев назад

    I've not played this... But sure they'll stack up well, not exactly the same, but plenty of useful tones. And you play to what you have and the tones that you can get.
    The reality is circuit boards etc are cheap, factor in cheap labour and it's easy to make copies with little R&D investment.
    It mostly comes down to finances and what you feel comfortable with a bit like squier v fender or gibson v epiphone etc.
    Cheers man!!
    Multi effects are the best examples I think these days. Look what you get at the price compared to a few years ago.

    Mate - I've had a complete mind blank for the band name of the riff you played at the beginning of the drive comparison - it's so iconic - I played it the other day, and then watched your video and then my mind when blank! turning 40 has not been kind to me! haha - help me out with the band name!! thanks =)

      @Paul-D  5 месяцев назад +1

      Its well worth it 😃 remember to tweak that saturation pot on the back if its a little too much to start with haha.
      Ive come full circle with amps, back to my katana head into marshall 212. I just find it works the best for me as a home amp

      @@Paul-D I've been having loads of fun with a Marshall MG Series 15DFX I got at a pawn broker's for 50 bucks. I'm running a Super Sic Tone from Lovepedal and a Billion Dollar Boost from Danelectro into it. It's really quite good for what it is.
