What’s up cousins! Happy Sunday! 🌞 Just a heads up. Old Town Road is now my current favorite song and I can’t stop listening and dancing to it 😩😂 Anywho... here’s what y’all REALLY been waiting for! Me incorporating grease into my wash and gos! 👀 Make sure you check out parts I & II if you haven’t already!
I use grease as a sealant and sometimes I substitute it as gel and it works on my hair✨ I use the softer mango butter hair grease after my leave-in and that's it.❤
When you said Eco Jamican Black I knew it wouldn't turn out right. I only use that for slick pony tails and maybe twist outs because it only gives me a soft hold and some shine. I think the Eco Olive Oil would pair well with grease.
Hi Amber I Never comment but I am glad you tried this method. I always used grease and last summer I started putting gel over my grease and my hair has been doing good so far.
I just started putting grease in my wash in go. Love it. Hair has retained So much length over these 6months. Leave in Oil Grease Eco style gel. My hair has more shine and more protection.
Hi Amber, your hair came out great and it looks amazing😃. The way that I use grease in my wash and go, it came out perfect on my Type 4 hair. Once i washed my hair and deep conditioned, I used Lanolin/grease hair conditioning. I did not add oil or a leave in. Trust me, the Lanolin conditioning grease served well. My hair was super soft and it sealed in moisture I got from sitting under my hair steamer for 20 min. So once I applied the Lanolin I applied my gel, I used the Wetline Extreme. Sat under a hooded dryer for about 40 min and let air dry over night. Next morning curls are Poppin and moisturized and last 7 Full days. Those two products worked very well.
I tried a grease and gel combo sometime last year and let me tell you, the definition was FYE but babyyyyy I was a walking oil spill, just greasy for no reason lol. I can’t remember what grease and gel I used but I do remember leaving oil spots all over the couch and car seats 🤦🏾♀️. So I’m excited to see what you come up with and if you find a better combo I’ll give it a shot!
It’s so funny that you’re doing a series with the grease. So for the last 3 weeks (I do my hair weekly ) I’ve used grease or a pomade as a sealant. I’m liking the results.
I tried the revival of the grease thing several years back and my hair absolutely did not like it. When I stopped using petroleum products in my natural hair back in the early 2000’s, I was reminded I did it for a good reason! 🤣🤣
I put grease in my hair 2 weeks ago, and the same thing happened. My hair absolutely hated it. When I was younger my mom would only use Luster's pink lotion and African pride grease and my hair loved it, now it only likes leave-in, gel, or sometimes hair butter.
@@candicebissessar2549 I use it on dry hair and it works for me. I use it to LUBRICATE my strands. I wash, condition, blow dry, then put some grease mid lengths to ends. There is no wrong way to use grease. Even on the jar of Blue Magic it says it can be used on dry hair.
Heyyy I think you should try the Blue Magic Indian Hemp grease, it's extremely nourishing, smells good and has some good hold too. I've been using it for years on my hair and scalp and it honestly keeps my hair soft and hydrated for days!
Great video Amber! Really can’t go wrong with good old, ole shoo Hair Grease! I’m definitely a blue Magic coconut oil hair grease queen! Love the results I get from grease! Thanks for reviving it on your channel because I know it’s a no no in the New school Natural community.. your my oldest daughter age I subscribed to your channel along time ago I have learned a few new things from watching your channel who says we too old learn new things from young people.😉 I have always liked your vibe. You will atlest go for it when others won’t even try it 🤦🏽♀️ well it’s Big thumbs 👍🏾 I enjoyed watching. Until next video ✌🏾
You were really feeling that intro dance! 😂 🤣 My favorite combo is CR Moisture Milk, Nature's Blessing's hair grease, and either Wetline Xtreme or flaxseed gel. I like Nature's Blessings because it gives me the same feeling as old school grease without petroleum and it rinses out easier.
Glad bronners Brothers Super Gro is getting some love out here in these natural hair streets 😍 your hair appears to have lots of definition ... I'm enjoying the series.
I started using blue magic before applying gel in my twist outs, and they be so 🔥🔥🔥 I stay getting compliments on my twist outs. Now when I wear my twists as a style, I just use the green eco styler gel. I only use gel because too much product caused the worst buildup on my scalp when I wear twists as a style. Then I just oil my scalp and sit under a dryer once a week.
I recently started incorporating grease back into my hair regiment, and I am so happy to see this video. I haven't tried it with gel as a wash-n-go, but I'm glad to see that it can work. I will definitely try this. My grease of choice is Royal Crown hair pomade. Old school my mom used this on my hair growing up!
i'm loving these series. your last video made me realise how much shea butter I have and don't realise use so I decided to try the loc method instead of the lco I usually use because my hair wasn't staying moisturised for prolonged periods of times. I have mixed my shea butter with other oils so it makes a creamy, thiccck oil. I divided in four sections, used the shea butter on dripping wet hair straight from the shower (I only conditioned after shampooing and had rinsed the conditioner from my hair). I raked it into each of my four sections, finger detangling as I raked then applied African pride leave in to get the shea butter to absorb into my hair. I was expecting a kinky wash and go but moisturised, low and behold I got definition and HARDLY any shrinkage. as soon as I used the shea butter, I realized it weighed my hair down and stopped the water from evaporating and the cream after made it absorb. if I want a voluminous wash and go, I can do this method without having to stretch my hair out. I have thick and medium strands but I thought maybe you could try this with the grease? today is day 2 and my hair still feels moisturised and I can shake my head and have so much body and movement.
It's still cute cousin! Just an thought and maybe I am thinking too much into it....the mixture of two oils overpowered the gel. Maybe use it with Wetline or one of the Ecos without an oil added and maybe there will be less frizz. I love this series though!
..yes! You're absolutely right. I thought ther same thing. I have Type 4 hair and I sit under a dry and deep condition. Once I'm done., I use the Lanolin grease. It seals in the moisture from my deep conditioning . I do not add a leave In. I then top the Lanolin with Wetline Extreme gel... it's a perfect mix. I still get the hold and softness I need for my curls to pop for 7 days. No need for oil and a leave in
I follow you because my hair is similar to your being fine and I like the fact that the hair grease added more volume! I’m going to Target today and find some grease and try it on my hat too! Thanks for venturing out and trying something taboo sorta speak! Thanks for a great video!!! Looking forward to see what you come up with next!
Try Queen Nefertitis Hair Grease. It's online only but she sells it in NY. It's made of 17 Herbs, Petroleum free & smells so good like a cherry. I like Vaseline mixed with Oil too.
I'm glad you're testing different things out for your subscribers. Grease didnt work well for me. My hair just doesn't like petrolatum or mineral oil. I did better back when I used silicones.
It looks good Amber. Yeah I would like to see it with your holy grain gel. I like the Mango butter hair grease by soft sheen smells good and pairs well with products. The dancing in the intro took me out 😂
OooOoOo staying tuned for the next one. Looks good cousin! I myself am not a fan of eco and the black castor one worked better for slicking my hair back than it did for wash n go. I want to try to find grease alternatives that dont have petrolatum and mineral oil and compare the wear between the 2.
Amber you are hilarious! I loved your intro. 😆. And as for the disrespectful nose invader...... 🤣 Anyway, just before I came on to RUclips I decided to rewet my hair apply gel AND THEN Added some Vaseline on top, and it’s showing great potential with shine, so I can’t wait till Sat washday to try it fully. But I think that as the gel is water based and will evaporate it would be best to apply the grease last. And my hair doesn’t feel at all greasy.
Hello...I had asked you if you could use grease in your wash n go, and I thought you said you could not, but you use it here in this video. Did you ever do an updated video using grease in your wash n go using another gel?

You can use sulfate free shampoo. A trick I learned from the greasers (white men who use pomades or grease to get the 1950s slick back): apply Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle to DRY hair before shampooing. Somehow they found that specific conditioner breaks down the grease really well and the shampoo washes it away easily. Leave it in your head for about 15 minutes before rinsing and shampooing. I have a keratin treatment so I had to find an alternative to sulfate shampoo so I could still use my grease.
You're lucky. Grease and oils only leave my hair looking dry, shrunken, and frizzy. A teensy bit as an ingredient in a moisturizing product is okay, but applying plain grease/oil to my hair always leaves me feeling disappointed and needing to wash the stuff out and start over.
