@@donnachi4773 Hey love, most of Camille Rose original pink line does not have glycerin. Her Curl Love Moisture Milk, And her Aloe Whipped Butter Gel (both I absolutely love). The Almond Jai butter has honey which is another kind of humectant(honey isn't the best for me either) but no glycerin. Curl Junkie has a few deep condish with no glycerin and they're pricey but worth it. Hope this helps 💖

This is the best video on RUclips regarding how glycerin performs in products and in your hair. I also feel like hat porosity plays a big part in how it performs in your hair. Being high porosity, I feel like glycerin tends to perform negatively for me, most of the time. Thank you! ❤️

I live in VERY humid-hot south Louisiana. I do not like to use products with glycerin high on the ingredients list. I find that it makes my hair frizzy because it draws too much moisture into my hair. My preferred humectant is aloe. The gels I love are aloe based.

Glycerine is excellent for me. It keeps it so moisturized and pulls in water. My curls are so much better…
Glycerine is used in your herbal medicine tinctures called glycerites so we consume it all the time.
It’s a natural preservative if used in the correct amounts when there’s water in the formula.
Glycerine is from vegetables just like syrup is from sap…
So wonderful… however I have high porosity hair so idk if that’s why I love it or not?
I’ve used it over 10 years both when I had locks and loose natural hair. I make my own formulas.

Glycerin should be used with water, when my mom was growing up she made a 1:1 ratio of glyercin and water for body lotion. It's cheap and available and drug stores, I use about 1 (glycerin):10 (water) in a spray bottle and use it in my hair. Many high end skin products use glycerin, you can use it for your face too, just mix it with water first.

I think for high porosity hair almost all humectant can be 'bad' for our hair. Agave nectar and pectin also are humectants. Sorbitol, propylene glycol. Flaxseed and sometimes aloe can react as humectants. And the list goes on.
I think to really find a humectant free product or really low in humectants will be super hard to find.
If anyone knows any products please let me know...!

I use glycerin free products cause my hair is sensitive to it and other humectants. I have normal porosity hair so it has slightly raised cuticles and gains and loses moisture from the environment. When I add glycerin and lots of humectants to the list, it basically goes into overdrive, gaining too much moisture and losing too much moisture constantly which pushes my hair into hygral fatigue.
I only use glycerin in rinse out products except in the winter when they make my hair very dry. I can use other humectants in the summer but not in the winter. It's a struggle lol

If your products are glycerin dominant, water is essential. Water down your products so that it’s runny and not thick or spray water on top of your hair after you apply the products.

In the winter when your hair is dry, glycerin keeps moisture in your hair.
Tip: For those who cannot use coconut oil because it makes your hair look and feel like crap. Not needing protein to rebuild your hair strands. Try aloe based products. Trial and error people, trial and error.

this is weird because when i am in the winter and i put glycerin products, i have dry hair. In a very dry climate, the glycerin will attract hydration from the inside of the hair to the outside, aggravating the dryness.

Glycerin in humid climates sucks too much moisture into my hair and makes it shrink and expands the curl. I avoid it being higher than the 5th ingredient for all seasons. NY is humid always, but drier climates I can get away with using it. Porosity plays a big factor in the use of glycerin imo.
