My name is Matthew and I live in a van. I lost my job due to "cut backs" from the pandemic of 2020 and decided to seriously restructure my life. I am also a single dad who needed to find a solution that would allow me to remain in my daughter's life and plan for her future. After tons of research into #vanlife, I knew it was for me.
From March 2021 until October 2021 I spent my days building out my Chevrolet Express 2500, which came to be known as "Lucky" and as of October 18, 2021 I have been living in Lucky full time.
The build was done with almost no experience on my end and I used the one incredible tool I had at my disposal - the internet - to learn what I needed to build Lucky into a very comfortable tiny home.
I have always had a bit of a passion for being in front of the camera and really enjoy capturing the world around us. This really played into how I was feeling after almost a year of working from home when I "commuted" from the bedroom to the couch. I was starting to feel extremely unhealthy, unmotivated and despondent. I HATED that, and that's not a word I like to throw around. This new lifestyle gives me opportunities I just didn't have before and I am so excited to be able to share it all with you.
I truly believe we all have the capabilities to turn our lives around, should we choose to do so - and if I can inspire you to shoot for something better then I have done a decent job and that will keep me going.
There is more to life than the consume, consume, spend, spend lifestyle I feel we have all been conditioned to follow and I just want to do the best I can for myself first and foremost. Our time is limited and I do not want to waste another second on a lifestyle that doesn't bring me joy!

After breaking my spine and there now being more metal, concrete, doner bone, and stuff from my hips than my own spine, I completely understand the absolute vile intrusion into your life that bone and nerve injuries cause. Love your videos and your cats. I wanted to suggest getting new shoes with very good ankle and arch support to help your back. The converse type shoes don’t have the support your knees, hips and back need. Also having a cushion while driving to keep your hips level or just above your knees helps your back as well. Good luck!

Get yourself a $10 folding travel blowdryer for those times you have to melt stuff. They can be as small as a pair of wool socks. Or boil water and pour that over the ice.

There’s been a lot of snowfall in Calgary lately, and roads have been slushy sloppy.

"Old Converse"shoes... After 6 months, the support is considered WORN OUT. The cushioning no longer provides support and this contributes to pain. So consider getting new shoes. To extendwearing. of the shoes, change your shoes daily allowing at least one day of rest/airing between wearings.

Another great video. You look like you are having less pain. Keep healing. Didn't realize the exhaust on your diesel heater could freeze up like that. Looks like another thing to put on your checklist. Nice theater. Haven't been to a theater in about 30 years. Nice, also you can provide heat for the fur babies while you are gone. Because I have wood heat in my truck camper, my pets don't have heat when I'm gone. However, both cats go under my blankets and sleeping bag and stay toasty warm until I return. My dog has a profuse double coat and is fine. He would actually prefer to sit outside in the snow if I would allow it. 😅 He has a nice warm winter coat but pants and hates wearing it. Makes him too hot. So, that was $50 wasted. Again, no heat at night while sleeping. Cats again move in under the covers with me, and the dog lies on top next to us. Even with snow or freezing rain, we are good. The reflectix over the windows really makes a huge difference, too. Stay warm inside Lucky and get better. Spring will be here before we know it. 😊❤

Yeah, those cut off wheels aren't really made to cut wood. For that, you need the ones that look like spiral drill bits. They do a great job.
OneTigris makes a camping chair like you orange one but has a taller back on may be something to look at

You can dress so lightly for such a cold place. I’d be all bundled up with a muffler and all.

I think your idea of a movie premier at that theater would be great!
Maybe try some cooking spray on the muffler and pipe. It should keep the ice off if it doesn't burn off from the heat. If so it may make it non stick like a steel pan. And also try to shorten it up to get it away from that tire.

Can’t help but think there has to be a better location for that diesel heater muffler. You can get an extra long exhaust tube for the heater, that’s what I used to enable me to fit mine at counter height. I then used the original exhaust tubing as inlet tubing to have something stronger than the the foil covered cardboard the unit came with. 👍🏻

Why is there no booth seating in Wendy's, where everyone in a group can all sit in a booth? The answer is accessibility. By having all or most tables have one booth seat and 2 removable chairs, the chairs can be removed, when needed, to accommodate wheelchairs. The reason why there are any booth seats at all, instead of all chairs, is also accessibility. That way larger people, that exceed the weight limits of the chairs, can have a larger, sturdier booth seat to sit on. If all or most of their seating is designed this way, they don't have to mark any tables as reserved for larger or disabled people, since any table can accommodate anyone. This also means if the place is crowded, and there are multiple wheelchairs and/or larger people, they can take the first empty table, instead of waiting for the only accessible table to clear out...or just leaving and taking their business elsewhere.
Though often the tables are fixed to the ground and cannot be moved out to give room for larger people. Sigh.

You should Also buy a Self Igniting Propane Burner that you can screw onto one of your green propane Bottles and Use It To Melt any Ice Away From Your Heater Muffler Or If You Ever Get Frozen Door Locks Or Padlocks As Well As Use It For Lighting Campfires Easily. Mine Has A Self Igniting Sparking Button That Self Ignites It With The Push of a Button Whenever it's Needef

You absolutely could, but I don’t think the small amount the Jetboil makes would do it in one go

those cutting wheels are so much cheaper at princess auto just fyi. had a jerry can of diesel for over a year and still was fine. I did add fresh stuff to it later.
