I would want to see a much larger library of patterns that are all customizable and have the ability to upload patterns before I would considering purchasing. I also would want to be able to store the patterns on my own device. I agree the cloud based issue is a concern. The ease of setup is a plus so a price tag between $300 and $500 would be fair if all the features I mentioned were offered.
i am going to be honest Jen, i think if Cricut can put their creative mind to this, they can make it better! create a fantastic machine based on the Cricut procedure of cutting. You find the pattern shop you want to make a garment with in (or put in your OWN PDF) find the cutting pressure depending on the type of fabric you are using, adjust that and then, put in your measurements, USE A SPECIAL PATTERN CUTTING MAT, AND THEN, VOILA! CRICUT HAS CUT YOUR PATTERN FOR YOU! THAT WOULD BE A GOOD NAME FOR THAT! "THE CRICUIT VOILA!"
I was totally looking forward to using this for my sewing business. But not having access to all patterns in the subscription and only 700 patterns. Thanks for you information it was very helpful and I won’t be buying as of know.
Even at $499 the Ditto system isn’t worth it. I spent $99 on my projector which projects an area of the size of my full cutting table. None of this ridiculous splicing a pattern piece within the Ditto program because that 1 piece doesn’t fit in the Ditto’s projected area. I am able to go websites like Mood and download free PDF sewing patterns, customize every line of the pattern in Adobe Illustrator or Affinity Design so the Ditto subscription would not be a good money decision for me. The best part is that I can buy from independent pattern makers, downloads are instant and size customization can be as precise as I want it to be. The last I had heard was that you still couldn’t use anything but Ditto patterns.
For me, it's not so much about the purchase price, but a required on-going subscription for an unproven product. Who wants to buy something and have the company go out of business a few months later? Also, incompatibility with the big name pattern companies is an issue. I have a lifetime supply of big name patterns. If I could use the patterns I already have, it would be fabulous. Without that, it's usefulness is highly limited.
As of 2 days ago it was on sale for $399 at JoAnn’s as a pre-black Friday deal. I still think it’s too much even at that price because the tech doesn’t seem to be as much with the projector itself as it is with the software. I think $200 tops is what it should be worth because again, the tech is more with the software and not the projector itself. Also, for those that are having trouble calibrating, I’ve heard that the mat itself has to be a certain direction or it won’t work, so try turning it around and see if that works.
It’s now $399 and included a free 3 mo subscription. I think it’s worth it knowing the limitations. It’s really no different than Cricut. But like you, I’m not a fan of that either.
I work for a sewing machine company, we offered Ditto, I found experienced sewists were not interested! Priced too high. Concept good, but too many limitations.
Until they stop subscription, let you use your own and PDF patterns, customize any pattern and drop the product to $499 - $399 I won’t be buying it or considering it.
Our Joann's had this for $799.00!!!!!😮 I just recently went into the store and it was $299.00!😮 The thing is just not selling. I really prefer paper patterns myself. Just call me old school but, I just do. It didn't seem like a smart product to make. Too bulky and too techy. I my opinion.... two 👎👎.
They said you can now bring your own patterns and all the ditto patterns are customizable just not the outside ones which is understandable. Because when you buy the patterns from McCall or other brands it’s limited customizations too
Hardware is nothing magical (short throw projection) and probably only worth, in practical terms, ~$200 - $300 [retail]. Also; subscription devices are all the rage now, even car company's are offering subscriptions for what used to be standard features (heated seats, courtesy of BMW). Point is, subscriptions add up and the device is useless without paying monthly. It's a win for the company but not the consumer.........

I recently bought an inexpensive projector for $50 that I was thinking of rigging to use for pattern cutting. The ditto is too expensive.

as of today 2/12/24 my local sewing shop is selling for $399. I don’t think it’s versatile enough.
No, I wouldn’t take it even if they gave it away. I don’t like the subscription model. The return ( or no return) policy.
199 at Joann’s black Friday 2024
I work for a sewing machine company, we offered Ditto, I found experienced sewists were not interested! Priced too high. Concept good, but too many limitations.
I would think of purchasing this if it was $200
You may have gotten lucky. They're $299 now.
Until they stop subscription, let you use your own and PDF patterns, customize any pattern and drop the product to $499 - $399 I won’t be buying it or considering it.
Same here. It will have to do what my $99 projector can do.
It’s $399 now!
Now $299 😮.
May 2024: $299 at Joann
It's 299 now.
I'm pretty sure I would never buy this as I don't sew enough to buy it at any price.
I saw it for $399
It's now $400.
Wow they really did do that!
@@sewingreportlive WOW!! 400! WOW! BUT YOU KNOW, I STILL WOULDN'T TOUCH IT.
I don't own one. Nor will I. It's too expensive, too big, and too inflexible.

It does not make sense. I’d rather use that money towards a good sewing machine. I don’t do substitutions and I can make my own patterns
Subscription model 👎
No outside patterns 👎
Limited customization 👎
As-is, not interested.
