      I said, I’ll pray, but unless you change your diet you have no hope of cure.
      He sat down next to me, and said “Tell me more.”
      A recent widower he was overwhelmed as a new person to food preparation. He invited me to his home to police his kitchen cabinets to get started.
      I threw away literally 90% of his food and he didn’t flinch. The medical diagnosis was his catalyst.

    Dr. Berry, love your work. FYI, there is research coming out showing that pork and poultry have high levels of linoleic acid these days due to the animals being fed corn and soy and such. If you look at modern bacon you can tell. Back when I was a kid (70s) bacon fat coming out of the fridge was stiff and hard. Nowadays it's limp and greasy (much less saturated). Recommending lard without knowing the way the pig was fed is problematic. I'm not sure of the source of this info though. Maybe Chris Knobbe. It was a researcher Paul Saladino had on his podcast though. Beef, being meat from a ruminant, does not appear to have this issue so tallow is apparently still fine. That's the direction I've been going personally.

      Canola (Rape seed) oil has a toxic fungus and is an inferior oil. So is peanut oil. Olive oil is fantastic if eaten raw and cold and only if it is TRULY cold pressed and packaged in an opaque container and packed with nitrogen to protect it from light, heat and oxygen.
      NEVER cook with any unsaturated fat!!! Cook with saturated fats only - butter (ghee) or coconut oil. AND don't confuse SMOKING POINT of an oil with the temperature at which heat MUTATES an unsaturated fatty acid!

    Hi, Great video! When I was growing up in rural VA in the 60s everyone had a canister of bacon grease that was kept on the stove top to cook with. Also, everyone flavored many savory dishes with salt pork slices. I remember how tasty it all was then came along the low fat study in the 70s (from what I now know was an inaccurately published heart study that started the whole thing). My parents also raised pigs and rendered beautiful lard. Younger people don't know what they are missing. Thanks to your truthful videos I hope society goes back to the things that were truly good.

    • @raraavis7782
      @raraavis7782 6 лет назад +7

      Ghee is super easy to make. Dump a pound of butter into a pot and let simmer for about 20 min. Remove foam from the surface periodically. To test for ‚doneness‘ hold a lid over the pod for a couple of seconds. If there is still steam condensing on the lid it’s not ready yet. Once all the water is evaporated, it will be a clear, golden liquid with some stuff floating around on the bottom (milk solids). Filter through a piece of cloth (coffee filter don’t work) let cool somewhat and put it in a silikon icecube mold. Ghee is fairly hard so it’s more convenient to be able to remove it in little cubes, especially if you want to keep track of how much you eat. And properly made ghee won‘t spoil for quite a while, so you can make big batches if you want to.

    My acid test for whether a non-animal oil is healthy or not: Can I get oil out of it if all I have is a mortar and pestle?
    I have an unrelated question, though. I am in the early days of a ketogenic diet, but I have been reading around and I am worried for my thyroid and giving me second thoughts. I have been reading that a very low carb diet can be bad for an already diseased thyroid. According to these "experts," you need to consume some carbohydrates to convert T4 into T3, and that in order to keep your blood sugar from dropping to zero, your body raises its cortisol level which is taxing to the thyroid. They have warned not to let carbohydrate consumption drop below 30 grams per day. There has also been people claiming that a ketogenic diet made their thyroid worse.
    I was hoping you could clarify, or at least point me to where I can understand how this all works.

I also worked in a restaurant for a few years & I say., the OIL did flow freely., and we used a large amount of it in most of our prepared meals., probably not the best place to get food., lots of Salt & nasty fats galore!!

    I think Dr Berry should do a video on specifically why omega six is bad for you. Because to agree he sounds unsure. There is a cold press and they never speak about coldpressed seed oil with omega 6. Are there any benefits from oils that is called press that has omega 6 and 9. We need to get more specific here. It appears that oils that has omega six when heated tends to become toxic but they need to explain that so we can have a greater understanding. I don’t want to jump to conclusions, But they need to explain and get more specific instead of rushing to the Internet to be the first to tell it.

    I just share this video with somebody on RUclips who told me that it's healthier to use mayonnaise on my bread instead of bacon fat to make a grilled cheese sandwich.
    I told her mayonnaise is full of canola oil, which is synthetically man-made. It's not found in nature, it's not natural, and that is gonna clog your arteries and lead you down the road of heart disease faster than bacon olive oil, which our body knows what it is and knows how to process it since we've been using these 2 types of fats for thousands of years.
    I'm still like mine bottle that somebody would think mayonnaise is healthier than bacon fat. All these lives at people hear all these fad diets eat real food, your body knows what to do with the rest. I used to like a lot of candy, but then I got down to only having a small amount of refined sugar with my coffee, just eating spoons, worth of hot cocoa with organic grass fed, heavy cream, and I've been losing weight by eating more fat. Then people don't understand your body needs cholesterol and fat, especially your brain consumes the most of it, and the more cholesterol you eat from bacon, fat and olive oil, the less your liver has to work in order to make it.
    Speaking of food, the cats are telling me it's time to feed them once again, or I'm gonna end up on the menu. 😹
