Good morning Pam! 💕 Up half the night monitoring our stormy weather, woke up late, grabbed my coffee and glue. 😆 Have just stomped out of the craft room because I was tired of arguing with myself in my head about decorating a journaling card. I've done many scrapbook pages but when it comes to junk Journaling I have a big problem. I guess I can't wrap my mind around being a bit sloppy with it. How do I stop this.

Yes, that is tatting. I learned it one stressful day, remembered how for about a week, then forgot how. Still have the shuttle from 1968....hope springs eternal, eh? I kept about three little embroidery floss flowers of the ten I made. The rest spent a long life sewn to one leg of my bell-bottom jeans. :-)

I ALWAYS learn something from you. I’m getting ready to redo my art space and was deliberating various storage ideas. I love the idea of keeping the drawers from a cabinet and not tossing them out with the cabinet. I, literally, laughed out loud at your drawer items “commingling” comment. I've been collecting books so I can make some junk journals. I'm struggling with making my cookbook junk journal. I'm using a three ring binder. Such a cute fur baby

Hello Pam, You are right -that is tatting - tatting is made up of organized knots cutting it is fairly fear free as only the knot cut will come loose. Also they are normally made with cotton so they should pick up inks and dyes. You can tea or coffee dye them as well. I’m a mixed media Fiber artist here on YourTube, please direct your fiber arts queries my way.

Yes, that is tatting. Rather than being like crochet or knitting, it really is more like macrame because they are gentle knots formed over a base thread. Once you learn how to tat, it is very zen and relaxing. I have some edging that I made a while ago and had forgotten about. Time to pull it out and add it to a junk journal. I belong to a small journaling group (not all junk journalers - some do written journals, some do mixed media art journals and I'm the first to do a junk journal :-) so I think I will make one of these for each member of the group !!! Yay !!! Thanks Pam...... great idea....Question: Pam or any Outposter...... have you done a video showing how to dye paper with avocadoes or yellow onions? I know how to dye with tea and coffee and love tea/coffee dye done with stencils that you showed us how to do...... but I can't find one using avocadoes or yellow onions..... how about other veggies 🙂 ?

Yes, it is tatting. My mother tatted edging for hankies, pillowcases, bed sheets, my sleeves, aprons, napkins, and almost everything she made. I tried to learn how to do it from her, but she had absolutel no patience.
I used to do shuttle tatting and would do edgings and cross bookmarks. I liked making the pattern Miss Pam used in this video.
