- Introducing the Mega Ranger, built and owned by Salty Gear's very own Jared Baker. This Ford Ranger is definitely bigger than yours! Follow Jared and his Mega Ranger on Instagram: @megaranger2020
Jared walks you through the specifics of this build and what it took to fit 37" Kanati Mud Hog's on a Ranger. We start at the Dirty Life beadlock wheels fitting with those huge 37x12.50R17 Kanati tires and Apex Rapid Precision Valves. Jared goes into detail about everything he did under the hood to increase the power of this truck to make it drivable, like a new cold air intake and a custom tune from Gearhead. After getting the truck on the lift it's all about suspension. The front is sporting custom length King Suspension with adjustable remote reservoirs, Apex AutoLYNX, Camberg Upper Control Arms and PB breaks. The rear setup includes Old Man Emu leaf springs, Rough Country V2 Shocks, ARB diff cover and more. Moving back to the exterior Jared talks about his hidden Stegodon 13,000lb winch, Rough Country Shackle Conversions, Baja Designs lights, Rough Country Fender Flares, and Tyger Side Steps.
It wouldn't be a proper off-road rig without recovery gear and Jared walks through everything he carries in the bed to make sure he gets home safe. This includes an ARB compressor, winch accessories, recovery boards and a heavy duty jack. There is even a fridge in there to keep the drinks cold.

Great build and Jared is a solid dude. He has answered numerous questions (most of them stupid) for me. Great job with the video!
Thanks for the kind words! Always happy to help!
Frickin sweet ride. My 21 Tremor wants some of that. Very cool. Thank you!
400hp. That’s crazy
Right! 🔥
This is freaking awesome! (Wish I could test drive a setup like this before building mine.)
Great work, happy that fitting 37s is much easier on my Sasquatch 😂 only needed a level kit
Great monster truck! Well done with the shaft works.
Jared did a great job on this Mega Ranger build!!
Great build…thx for sharing the details.
✌️✌️✌️
This is freaking awesome!
Very cool build that one of our techs built as his daily 🔥🔥
Fantastic build. This is outstanding.
We think so too! Mega Ranger did an awesome job with this build!!
Hey, I heard/read that the Spicer FDU M210 for the Bronco will fit and bolt in without any fab work whatsoever and is basically the same price when all said and done. I’m hoping you go for it before I do! LoL
Damn I like that truck. Especially since its a Daily. 👍
Thank you!
🤤That is awesome! Thank you for telling the story of this gem. I will have to rewatch and rewatch for the parts list.
You can look in the description for a parts list! Thanks for watching! Glad you liked the video!! 🔥🔥
Sorry, nobody move. I did not see the “More” button. Thanks.
i love this built goals for sure.
Baddest ranger I've ever seen
Right?!
OMG nice build!!!
Right! Jared did an awesome job on this Mega Ranger build of his!!
Nice truck!🙌🏼🏁
Danger Ranger Gang 🤘🤘🤘
Yeah buddy!!🔥🔥
Love it! Own a '19 Ranger XLT FX4 an it's excellent. Overbuilt for sure w/Dana axles & F150s 10spd tranny. T6 frame is strongest in its class. Just ordered Fox 2.0 shock kit also. Levels & lifts truck a modest 2in.
Awesome!! You’re going to love the fox 2.0 shocks on that!! 🔥🔥Thanks for watching!
So did you SRS the front? You said D60’s but the only solid axle on these trucks are the rear.
Lots of good insights with this video that's kinda hard to capture in a reel. I like the idea of a separate tune for towing....that will keep your truck running for a long time.
There are lots of little subtleties to this build that really require more time than a reel will allow.
Yeah that was my thought as well I pull my trailer quite often but if I really want to turn the power up I have that option.
awesome build!! very well put together. Thank you for also showing your recovery gear. very important and overlooked mod for every adventure rig. I'm close to moving on a 21 lariat. This gives me a lot to work with in the future. Thank you. Keep on keepin on, brother
Glad you enjoyed it
I’m glad you found it helpful and welcome to the Ranger club!
The stock Ranger FX4 Is well put together too.
@@Davido50 ...stock fx4 is outstanding and I'm loving it, well said. I've got a large stack of parts waiting to go on, but dang I love how it is right now.. 👊🏼🤙🏼
@@MegaRanger-cw2df ... sincere thank you. I love this truck. Loved my old '94 splash v6 stepside, i hammered it. Looking forward to many adventures and a fun build up. Keep on keepin on, good sir..🤙🏼
Love it!!! Getting my 6 inch lift amsooooi
Awesome content. Wanted to ask for the fridge in the back did you install an outlet in the bed I saw ford offers one that’s a direct plug and play ?
He might have actually saved a little if he started with the tremor.
I'd love to take the factory bed off mine and do a Baja build. Build up the motor and take it up to Michigan.
Squeaky tailgate dampener is a must!! 🤣
Truth😂😂
That’s one sick ride
We think so too!
That ride is giving me some very good ideas to do to my ranger when the warranty is over
Your refrigerator in the bed how did you get power to it did you use the power cord that is on the frame by the spare tire
Yeah so sick eventually if it has the original transmission it will be sick and fail. Happened to my Ranger at 27,000 miles and it's a nightmare to have Ford correct the problem while under warranty.
I want one of those! Very Cool!!!!
Glad you like it! Very cool build! 🔥
One of the best Rangers out there 🔥
Thank you so much!
It’s a absolute beast!
@@saltygearsoffroad6078 how does it affect towing . Does it lower the max towing ?
You have a 600 lb payload capacity now? Is that right?
Sick!!!
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching!! 🔥
Amazing
I'd like to have the 589Fab hidden winch mount for my Ranger.
Looks killer man, im interested in the swaybar disconnects for my 2019 . I am literally doing the fox 2.0 kit 0-3 inch today.. which length would suit me better ?
Awesome build. What brand did you use for the adaptive cruise relocation kit? Was there issues with adaptive cruise functioning correctly after relocation? Thanks for all the replies..
I used the fab fours relocation bracket. It works exactly the same as when it was in the factory location!
Love it! Well done, and stayin American! King’s rule!
so nice. my future i hope
Manifesting 🤞👏
@@saltygearsoffroad6078 wife loves it ....so thats a plus and green light...
I also have some dirty life -12mm new wheels and I tried to have them installed today but my mecanic was concerned that the oem studs where to short for those wheels, did you have to change the oem studs for extended or are they good?
when you said -12mm offset on the dirty life wheels did you mean +12 offset? I know that Rough country recommends a 20x9 +12 and what did you have on previously?
Really impressive truck, but baffled by the stock gearing.
10 speed transmission and a lot of extra power. It runs awesome didn’t need to re-gear.
Great build do you have the link to the front shackle kit? And did you need to do anything else or do they just bolt right on to the existing holes?
It is a Rough country shackle conversion. Just look up your vehicle on their website you can order directly from there!
Awesome Ranger! Please post the link for the Jack and refrigerator. Ty
They are both available on Amazon.
Can you send a link for the winch mount? I’d really like to do that without replacing the entire front bumper.
You might not read this but is anyone working on front diff gears and lockers of any sort?
So far nobody has made front differential gears or a locker yet
I was going to do the build but the transmission went to crap at 26,000 miles and Ford could not get the repair correct so thereafter I sold it back to Ford.
I have the shock skids also, but recently have been getting a squeak form the one on the driver side. Have you had any issues with yours.?
No I have not had any problems at all. Check to make sure your bolts are tight also check your bushings on your shock.
Do you have a full size spare or plan on running one?
Still have a 33” spare. Don’t have any plans yet for a 37”
Swaybar disconnect! Do you find it gives much more travel when needed?
Hello Sr. Killer truck. Have a 19 lariat sport myself. Bone stock. Just received my eibach pro truck coilovers tho. Curious about your tuner. Brand and do you monitor engine vitals? Might get to 33's but don't want to kill power. Live in the mountains. And what's needed to get the calipers on?
Any info welcome...wheel on bud
I got Ranger Wiltrak 3.2 diesel EU version, simular setup, but different brand of gear. And i regeared mine...
How does your front axles handle everything? I CONSTANTLY brake mine while offroading =/
Sick truck! So I have a 6” RC lift and I’d like to ditch the spacers up front. What is the length of coil over do I need to make the swap up front and ditch the pucks?
One of the shock companies like King, Radflo, or Fox would maybe be willing to share that information from a previous set they’ve built!
One of the shock companies like King, Radflo, or Fox would maybe be willing to share that information from a previous set they’ve built!
How much did it cost just in mods?
This is what I want do. I see you started with an FX4 vs a Tremor. Why? Is there a build log? Thanks.
In 2020 the Tremor did not exist yet so I started with the FX four. Honestly I would probably do that again just because I’ve replaced all the suspension components that would’ve came with the Tremor. There will be a build Vlog on the Salty Gears website soon.
Did u have to buy a relocation bracket for the collision assist radar?
Yes. When it still have the stock bumper I used the fab fours relocation bracket
the hidden winch mount install any videos on it?
Can I leave the fx4 shocks in the back if I get the king shocks in the front? The max I want to go in the front is 2 inches .
Yes you can leave your stock FX four shocks in the rear they will be valved a little different they won’t handle quite the same. But they will work just fine for most everything you do when you do the fast paced stuff is the only time you’ll notice a really big difference. Definitely recommend matching rears eventually.
Yes you can
How did you relocate the radar? Brackets?
Holy shit I follow your Instagram
Thanks for following me!
@@MegaRanger-cw2df How much are repairs?
@@Myrderbeans check my Instagram for updates but so far they’re totaling $11,000 in damage. Once the front ends apart they will know more next week.
@@MegaRanger-cw2df oh God
@@Myrderbeans yep. Not much fun.
where did he get get the hub centric rings at for wheels? I have spacers on my wheels and would like to put toyota wheels on.
I just got them on Amazon
where can i get that 7.5 suspension? or how can i build something similar
Cap cover, where did you bought it?
Does it have the stock front axle?
Oh dang this is the guy on Facebook hahah! Glad your truck was able to be fixed after your fender bender, had me totally worried haha. Not even kidding!
So it looks like you took the spare tire shroud off to fit your 37’s?
Only gripe, put bigger tires on ..eats up mpgs. Put in a better engine to meet the bigger tire set up.
I need this build list
What camper shell is that?
Damn that's sexy. What kind of budget are we talking for all this?
@MegaRanger-cw2df I’m right here in Utah. I have a 2019 Ford Ranger XLT on a 6 inch rough country lift. I love everything about this truck and I want to get the same front suspension set up as you. Is there anyway you can direct me to where you got that custom king suspension kit? I’d love to collaborate with you or talk about the MegaRanger.
2nd ✌️
✌️
Where is that diff cover from?
It is an arb. Available on any 4x4 website. Also on Amazon
I want to lift my 2020 Ford Ranger with the 3 1/2 inch lift. I’m currently running a -12 centerline on a 2.5 leveling kit which works great but I would like to go to a 3 1/2 inch lift kit and run a 285 70/ 65 minimum. Is there anybody out there that can help me nobody seems to know if they put a 3 1/2 inch lift on my truck and a 285 they say will Rb does anybody know if that’s true?
Center of gravity for track width is scary on that ranger..careful
No worries he’s got it all figured out! Hope you enjoyed the video🔥
Not my first rodeo 😂
What is the exact winch model?
Stedogon 13k
Im an American living in Philippines. I have a 2016 diesel with a 5 inch lift and 35's. Trust me that is more then enough and a 7.5 lift and 37's is over kill in my opinion. He seems like a down to earth guy with a good attitude so I want to make it clear i mean no disrespect
EPA won't allow us to get Diesel midsize and mini trucks, because they actually produce more torque and better fuel economy, and rarely breaks down. this applies to Toyotas, and Fords.
@@dundeeecroc way more torque and mpg. The problem is emissions in the USA. No way in the world ford could make an affordable diesel to pass emissions in USA (especially California)
Tyre size?
37/12.50/17
can i use a 6” suspensión to fit 35s?
thinking about the rough country
Yes, you can fit a 35” tire with 6” of lift! The Rough Country system is also one of our favorites!
@@saltygearsoffroad6078 thanks im goimg to get it right now. Can I use 16 wheels with that lift?
i was looking to do a build but idk anything about wheels and tires and suspension and a want 6 inch suspension but small wheels and big tires
Hi Jared, Would like to connect with you to ask a few Questions pls.
This looks expensive 😂😮💨
Builds can be expensive for sure but there are also a bunch of options that won’t break the bank! If you want to see what your options are call anytime!
What engine??
the track looks waaayy to narrow for the height of that thing
It now gets 10 mpg lol
I don’t understand anything I’ve watched except big tires and more power
Let us know if you have anymore questions! 😊
Why not just buy a base model truck and start from there if you're gonna heavily modify it like that
I wanted the electronic locker that comes with the FX4 I also wanted the creature comfort‘s like leather adaptive cruise control push button start proximity unlock and lock things like that so I wanted to start with a lariat FX4. This truck is my primary vehicle and daily driver so I definitely enjoy having the extras every day!
It's their money.
How about that ecoboost technology and problematic transmission.
only 7.5 inches of lift? Lol
It’s a nice build but you got a tremor grill on a fx4. It’s like putting a 5.0 badge on a 2.3l ecoboost. Just sad.
Well I guess it just depends on how you like your truck to look!
1. The Tremor was not even a model option for that year
2. If he did get a tremor model and still did all this work, the literal difference would be the tremor branded seats, rear bed stickers, and the upfitter switches, both of which make no difference to this build being applied to either the fx4 or the tremor model
At the end of the day, it’s the same thing
The video was very interesting until he said “ rough country lift “ 😂
Rough country has improved a lot.. don’t shit on it. I have the same truck he does except mine is only 6”
Huh 7½ in lift just to be able to run a 37 a jl rubicon only takes a 2 in lift to run 27s if you have a rubicon😂😂
Yes sir it’s much easier to fit a large tire on a Jeep! that’s what makes this build unique!
Your rubicon also has a chalked transmission and death wobbles. This thing is far more capable than your jeep.
What's the MPG on this beast.
