Knowing your limit is important. Too many times I see pet youtubers adopt way too many animals and not be able to provide all the care they need. Its better to rehome some of your piggies to people who have the time and resources to take care of them than struggle to do it yourself. I absolutely respect your choice.

It's important to learn to know how much you can handle too so you don't get animals that you can't then take care of. Of course mistakes happen to everyone and sometimes you take on more than you can handle, as long as you don't constantly repeat it like some people do, like get an animal that you have to give away and then see another cool animal that you take in and then have to abandon too. Though if you rescue sometimes it can be hard to say no too and specially if you don't know what happens to the animal.

It happens. Recently my landlord sold my house so I was forced to move and I had to rehome almost all my animals, including my 3 guinea pigs. It was rough but I found them really great homes. The person who took my guinea pigs sends me pics of them every so often so I know they're being taken care of really well. She also said my single male gets along with one of her pigs. Ever since his cagemate died he's been a bit aggressive to my others so I had to have him separate. I'm glad he found another pig he likes

I see this as a very mature decision, the title shocked me I gotta say but you prioritising both your and the piggies well being is very commendable and I can't blame you for being overwhelmed with almost 20 of them. He is living with his new owners being spoiled rotten. Knowing that he's getting more love than I could ever give him with horrible allergie makes it alot better, I still miss him alot, and a little guilty because he seemed upset being seperated from us. but he is happier now, and that's what matters to me. Well, I'm disappointed and heartbroken, but I can't say I was completely surprised. I can't imagine how much work you have and I feel you're choosing business over piggies. I think this is happening because you got so many piggies in a very short period of time, I've been part of the channel almost from the begging, like you said, you and your community and business have grown pretty fast, to the point where you slowed down with the videos and now you're rehoming piggies. I'm sure they're gonna live their best life but I can't imagine sending away any of mine, that's why I only have 5 (they were 7 originally), because I know I couldn't take care for them if they're more, even I have space and would love to adopt so many little ones in need of a good home. I respect your decision, I only hope from here on, you will be aware of your own limitations and possibilities regarding those living sweet potatoes. Keep us posted please and good luck with everything. Oh, it sucks what happened to the chickens, poor things, I remember you had a favourite one, i dont remember her name, did she survive? I hope so, they're all really cute and seem to have been part of the family for a long time now.

It is a really tough decision for me to make, but ultimately it was be better for me and the pigs. I miss being active on here and filming fun content so I cannot wait to be able to get back at it on a regular basis! And yes, if I couldn’t go back, I would have gotten pigs much slower, but what I can do now is find them amazing homes to go off to (which I have). Will not be getting anymore pigs and you can take my word for that ❤

This is a very mature decision to make. I have seen so many people who are just so attached to their animals that they let their level of care drop in favor of keeping them, despite knowing they can't give them the best care anymore due to a change in circumstances and it isn't fair to the animals. I know we always say we want to be their "Forever home" but its more respectable to be able to stand up and say "You know what, I need to rehome this animal to make sure it gets all the care it deserves" and then follow through on making sure they DO go to a spectacular home.
But I know it isn't easy. Sending lots of good vibes to get you through the rehoming process!

I've had guinea pigs for the past 30 years and honestly it takes just as much love to rehome them as it does to keep them. ❤❤ Thankfully I've never had to make that decision but I can only imagine it would be a difficult and emotional one. I wish I would have known about Toby sooner I'm just not an Instagram person. I have 5 piggies now, 2 neutered males and 3 females in a big enclosure in my living room and I absolutely would have taken Toby even if it meant driving 8 and a half hours from Ohio to you. I think a lot of us in this community can say we've fallen in love with your piggies just as much as you. And goodness knows we obviously love your products! My piggies absolutely love their guinea bunk beds with the mats! I have one little girl that only sleeps on the top bunk never on the bottom one and it's absolutely adorable to see her on it.

I often find it hard to be present for my kids and pets because my mind and time is taken by my business, and then I’m just so exhausted from the mental load at the end of the day. It’s hard, but you’ll find a new swing of things. You might need to outsource more things (ie hire staff) to do more for the media or merchandise side of things so you can free up your own time. You’ll find a way!
In the meantime, we’re still here and enjoying your content! And I wish your two boys happy new lives!!❤

I got both of my girl piggies from rehoming and it was the best thing that happened to me. They are my happiness with all their sass and popcorns. My youngest girl just escaped her play pen and was running around my kitchen, if that nice lady hadn’t rehomed her I would’ve never had this joy and confusion everytime she did crazy weird things! Rehoming is great when it’s best for the animal, and the people who end up loving them in the end. Austin what your doing is amazing and changes loves for the better. Never feel bad about it. Ashton and Toby will be happy with cage mates and he’ll be so happy.

you have no idea how many people wouldnt admit they cant care for their pets anymore and rehome them. most would keep them around because the apparent trophy of having a pet is more important than the pet itself, or they wouldnt put in the time to rehome them to sustainable homes. it's a very honorable action to take, and this is why i started following you in the first place

This newly founded culture of hallowing animals and sanctifying anybody that prioritises their care over themselves’ and other human beings’ is pure airheadedness, and edging on borderline insanity to me. People self proclaim their identity that of a virtuous care-taker of the pet, the most morally elevated person that could possibly be. They’d never want the public’s perception of them as sympathetic animal whisperers to dissolve, so they’d rather hog the animal under the guise of ‘keeping family’ instead of giving it away to a capable provider.

Just few tips, be careful with the bungee cord, a raccoon could definitely still get into your chicken coop easily, I would replace the bungee cord with a pad lock/ hatch with a key for extra security!
Also a hardware cloth skirt around the run/coop for any digging predators
And lastly make sure you check your chickens feet occasionally, similar to Guinea pigs, chickens can also develop bumblefoot too!
Good luck to you and your chickens/ Guinea piggies

    Hi Pigman,
(I am only calling you that because, in one of your videos, you said you were like one of the guinea pigs, yourself, and you and your channel were the reasons that my fiancee and I got our guinea pigs, totally a loving tribute name! You're gorgeous, and surely you know. 💕)
It completely makes sense what you said in your videos - work gets overwhelming, and we only have 24 hours in a day. Thank you for your courage to be honest and open, it's super inspiring. I am so glad that your two males may go to wonderful homes. Your mental, emotional, and physical health is so important, so it's a vital choice for you.
On the business end, our family loves your products (especially the piggies - Esme (Esmeralda) and Izzy (Isabella)), we have two and when we only put one in our cage for them, they would fight over it! There are always two inside at all times now. They use the top often, which is amazing, and so cute. Still waiting to buy more products once they're available, but no rush! But always excited to see the items arrive.
Grateful to have found your channel that led to us meeting our baby piggies - they bring me joy every day, especially when life is stressful... just staring at their silly antics and cute faces and tushes.
Always excited about your RUclips videos as well.

I think it’s an important lesson to learn for anyone that as much as you really want another pet sometimes it comes down to, “do I really have the time/energy/resources to care for this pet for the next X years every single day”.
I can barely keep up with 4 piggies (2 are fosters) and full time work so I understand how overwhelming it would be.
If you had just one big herd/cage you would likely find you have a much better balance - it’s important to have downtime for yourself too! Working all the time and then spending the rest of it cage cleaning is going to burn out the best of people.
Good luck with the rehoming, I think it’s definitely the right call.

Reach out to your fans, your friends and loved ones. Set a limit each day in how much you are physically able to do and if it means rehoming more animals it best for you and for them too if you are feeling overwhelmed. It won't be like this forever, soon I'm sure that you will have more assistance with your business as it continues to grow and I pray that it dose continue to flourish. For now please do take care of yourself and just take a day at a time. Best wishes Debbie ❤😊

Hard ware cloth should be used around the run or any openings to your coop. Chicken wire is like paper to most predators. They should also be locked up tight in the coop from dusk to dawn. A lock requiring a key is best. You also need more roosting bars. 10 inches per chicken. 2x4 is the perfect bar so they can cover their feet at night.

I also had to rehome my Guinea pigs..I had 2 Guinea pigs from September 2022 to I think march 2023, because I felt like I couldn’t take care of them because of depression. And I was 14 (my birthday was may) when I had to let them go. In my opinion, I think it’s a good idea to know when you can’t take care of a pet as well as you used to and rehouse them so they can have a little bit of a better life. Now it’s September 2023 and I still miss them but I feel like I did the right thing. It’s hard to let pets/friends/family go. I also had a hard time keeping up with both piggies that I had, and I also loved them dearly, they were named Coco and Oreo, and they were a little more then a year old when Coco and Oreo where rehomed. I got them when they where 7 to 8 months old at a pet smart. They were to sweet.

Hi, I just found your channel. I love it, and have learned soooooo much!! I have always had bunnies, and am obsessed with meeting all of my animal's needs the right way. I am about to adopt 2 guinea pigs, and thanks to you, I am feeling very well prepared!! So, thank you, but I have one question...When I first bring my guinea pigs home, how long should I wait to try to take them out of the cage? Like, how long until they are settled enough? Also, one more question...when introducing vegetables to my guinea pigs for the first time, do I introduce just one at a time for a period of time, or can I do several veggies at once? Thank you for your dedication to your animals, and for showing people the right way to treat their piggies...❤

I got news for ya. That Henrietta of yours is def a rooster. Think a name change may be in order. I love birds, esp chickens and yours are super cute!!!! I have had chickens literally all of my life. They are the most curious and somewhat dumb animals. My favorite has to be bantam frizzles, you should look them up - they kind of resemble a curly piggie to me. Best of luck and happy memories. :)

My husband left me and my kids and I'm super overwhelmed being a single mom of 3. I need to rehome my 2 boys. But there's such an over abundance of guinea pigs in the rescues I can't find a reacue to take them. Or any people to take them. I'm so torn up over it because I committed to them and now I'm struggling to care for them.

I think a great solution would be getting more help for your business. What happens if it keeps growing more & more & you have less time? Then what? surrender more or pay them less care. Jst saying it’s something you should consider. Pets are like family & they should be a long term commitment & priority

The connection with his pets is obvious based on all his vids. Insta lives etc. He’s always talking about it & shows it. Don’t try to deflect from what’s shown. The only reason I even wrote this was because he puts himself in a high ground. He’s judge other pet owners about poor care etc and he’s literally admitting to not being on top of his care bcs of his business. Im not crucifying him, I’m jst saying he could think of a diff solution so he can continue to care for all of them. he had nvr thought of surrendering before. He says it himself. That means he sees them as long term obviously.

Not gonna lie, found this video as I was looking for you for some advice. Now I feel horrible coming here to ask advice because I just don't know what to do for the guinea pig I had been fostering, but his original owner passed away and I don't trust anyone to take him in. I can't afford to get him a friend but he was alone for years before even I got him. He doesn't get along with my other animals so a friend for him felt like it'd be an expensive fail.
He plucks his cage bars though. And he won't stop. It used to be how he tells me he's sick of waiting and then I got him to stop when we got a better living situation. I don't know what to do. All day, every day. He has reusable soft liners I try to give him toys but he's picky AF. He's refusing to eat his hay, demanding pellets at all times of the day even after he's had and eaten what he's supposed to have. Even after he's had his salad, he starts in. I can't take it but I don't know what to do.
Attack me all you want RUclips commenter's but I'm going to admit he makes me so angry I start screaming. He makes me so upset I start to feel like I want to hurt him. I need some helpful advice or I'm going to have to rehome him. Whether I want to give up on my best friends guinea pig or not, my mental health can't take it.

@@Iamaguienapig This is how I make a living and continue to pay for my animals needs so realistically, it’s what has to come first. Also, as I mentioned, I haven’t been present on here as much as I would like and really miss it. Rehoming my pigs will help give me more time to focus on my business, make RUclips videos, take care of my pigs, keep up with their daily tasks, etc. And again, they are going off to AMAZING new homes and will have cage mates which is WAY BETTER than living alone with me. So all in all, I’d say that’s a pretty selfless thing to do on my end.

@@Iamaguienapig I agree w/ you. It’s not like Austin is running a rescue. He knew what he was getting into when he adopted / rescued his collective 19 pigs and then started a business. Also I have 0 understanding how no one is catching him in his lie of “I am rehoming 2 pigs” when he literally is rehoming 4 in total. I don’t trust liars in the least bit. Austin gives narcissistic energy when he says he is being selfless. Literally this is him being selfish to himself and his business like😅

@@ThePigRoom You knew what you were getting into when you built up a collection of 19 pigs. You come off as extremely narcissistic and I know I’m not the only one who thinks so. That’s the issue I have with pet tubers, you collect animals for views and likes then get overwhelmed so rehome them. I’ve seen that you have done some good rescues but then give them already overwhelmed shelters! 😂 You should rehome them all yourself not dump them on other people. Seriously pet tubers should be banned from RUclips!
