    It’s with a heavy heart that I announce that as of June 14th, Echo (this rabbit in the video) is no longer here. After a vet visit, we discovered multiple health complications and then had an emergency happen when I got home with her. She had to be put down, but was surrounded by love in her final moments.
    This is the harsh reality of owner neglect and she could still be here today if the owners did what they were supposed to. I will be making a video on her diagnosis and last days soon ❤ RIP Echo

    • @bemilie2841
      @bemilie2841 3 месяца назад +5

      Yes they should actually only sell animals to people who are able to pass a test or willing to spend a few hours in order to learn everything. If tons of people aren’t proper parents, imagine about taking care of another species.

    • @Flora._.Idi0t

      Key word, proper. Pet stores will tell you a small box is good for guinea pigs, but that’s far from the truth

    • @samanthaheizer-metcalf9703
      @samanthaheizer-metcalf9703 3 месяца назад

      @@Flora._.Idi0t I agree! It is a significant issue across the entire small pet community. I have even debated getting stickers made to stick to pet stores enclosures to advise them of improper enclosure care. I’m going to speak more in regards to hamsters because that is where most of my research is and my expertise is. Like I was just in PetSmart and petco yesterday and what I seen at petco made me livid! PetSmart at least had an upright hamster safe wheel in each enclosure, was a decent size, and wasn’t feeding a rat lab block food to them (which is known to be very dangerous to hamsters). At petco they had smaller enclosures, unsafe saucer wheels or mesh wire (these wheels, cause bumble foot or injuries), and being fed a rat lab block (which is known to be very dangerous to hamsters health). However, neither pet store had any adequate hamster information anywhere or products. Since this is the standard that pet stores are setting people whom know nothing about small pet care buy unsuitable care products for their animals and honestly believe that they are “spoiling” them, but reality is they aren’t providing their needs or basic requirements to be happy, healthy, thriving, etc.

      I don't think that would matter. When I had my first rabbit I took the initiative to find out all I could to make sure he was well taken care of. I think if a person doesn't have curiosity and their reason for getting a pet is selfish, I don't think a pet store advert and such is going to help.

    The biggest problem here is that this is not rare. People think this is how it's ok to treat small animals. It's just a bunny. It's just a hamster. It's just a guinea big. It's just a goldfish. Just, just, just. If this was unique to this specific horrible human, that would be one thing. But this is the life of most small animals. How were here teeth not overgrown? How did she not die from stasis? There are so many loved and well cared for bunnies out there that get sick and die seemingly out of nowhere but these neglected pets seem to live on and on and on in these conditions. Horrible.

Unbelievably unfair and I am so glad she made it out of there and is now getting to experience proper care, no matter what she has been through it seems she understands that shes now loved and so quickly too. I hope she can make a full recovery from the neglect and find an amazing family that will spoil her every single day. Probably oversharing, but I love seeing people like this who rescue animals every open chance they can, I have a 4 year old bunny who free roams my room, and I have had her for over a year now, I use hay as litter box bedding, and I have another tub full of hay for her to rest and eat from, and she even has open access to the entire tote full of it, I am 15 so buying her stuff is hard, but she always has food and water in her bowls, and I always give her treats when I get money from my job, which I barely get tasks to do, so it's rare, I do give her sticks to munch on for the days I can't get her treats though, but she has access to my entire bedroom, and her nest is by the head of my bed. No one really explains how hard taking care of them is, but it's always worth it when you see the happy lil fluffy critters running around, getting zoomies and such, we have 3 other bunnies in separate cages though, only because we have 2 males and 2 females, none of which are fixed which once I save up enough money, I will immediately direct all my money to fixing them so they won't ever need cages again, nor do they stay in the cage all day, there are 4 people in my house and everyone owns their own bunny, my dad keeps his in his room, my two brothers keep theirs in the living room, my dad every day takes his out of his cage and lets him run around, and the floor of the cage is a carpet but I bought a cushioned mat for the bottom not long ago, and my brothers take turns letting their bunnies out, I take care of trimming all of the bunnies nails, which, isn't easy, but it's always worth it knowing they won't be in pain from overgrown nails like that bunny. Like I said, I probably over shared, sorry about that, I'm just very happy people like this exist to care and rescue animals

    3:40 This is inexcusable my best friend had two rabbits before re homing them because the were moving and couldn’t take the bunnies with them. But she was 15 taking care of the rabbits, cleaning the cages(they had separate cages because they didn’t like each other) and feed them a healthy diet of Timothy hay and treats and pellets. If you are old enough to have a pet you are old enough to take care of it.

    Great job to you both for rescuing this sweet and poor bun. Thank you for stepping up to do something about her situation. Just an FYI. True Holland Lops are only between 3-4 lbs. They are very small. Even though previous owner neglected the poor bun, they did keep the pellet bowl full 24/7, unfortunately with no hay or veggies, but at least she wasn’t starving. Bunnies chew on stuff, not because they are hungry, but basically she was very bored as well as frustrated by living in these conditions 24/7.

    Heartbreaking to see those conditions that she was living in! I'm sorry, if your lives are too busy to pay attention to what your daughter is doing to their pet, as someone who is only 14 yrs old, they have no business having a pet or allowing their daughter responsibility for a pet. Those parents were as responsible for the welfare of that poor bunny as the daughter. Thank goodness for Eva and her way of talking to them so the rabbit could be rescued and thank you Austin for your part and taking her in.

    This whole situation reminds me of a bearded dragon I saved. Thankfully I convinced the person to surrender the beardie and it got adopted by a vet! I would have loved to take it myself but it was my roommate/landlords and he wouldn’t allow me to use the proper lighting and heat and tank size that’s appropriate. Poor thing had SEVERE MBD from lack of UV and proper diet. I think about that dragon all the time ❤
    It was his 6 year olds…. 🤦‍♀️ I made her a care sheet with all the tedious instructions of daily care for a beardie and that was what convinced her to let the dragon go.

    @bsm8962 5 месяцев назад +8

    That is not territorial behavior, it is because she feels cornered. I've dealt with rabbits like that, they need lots of hiding places and space dividers. I'd suggest only approaching her if she has several "exit routes" and never keep going towards her when she backs up. That way you will gain her trust. 😊 She definately suffered a lot physically and mentally in her previous home

    Omg this is way past neglect. How did this poor baby last 7 years. There wasn't any hay in sight during the first part of this video in the cage. I'm so glad she got the love she needed before she sadly passed away. It takes alot for me to cry but this video made me cry. The sadness in her eyes of being left alone with completely nothing😢 The amount of pellets may have given her gut stasis as they are only suppose to have small amounts a day especially if she wasn't use to eating them to suddenly having loads. RIP little girl. Free from pain now 💔😥
    Makes me love both my house rabbits 10x more if that's even possible.

    God bless you both for rescuing her and atleast she knew love before she died. The conditions she was in was horrific. Its so hard to re-educate people how to care for bunnies - so many people just want the bunny for their own pleasure and amusement and dont care about the bunnies health or quality of life. Thank you and God bless you for sharing this and educating people about proper rabbit care. We lost our dear little bunny friend Snuggles a few months ago and miss him terribly- bunnies are very special and are probably one of the most mistreated abused and under-rated animal out there. They are so loving, forgiving, protective, loyal, sweet, smart and affectionate- they deserve to be cared for and loved properly.
