Brilliant. I watch videos where they rate a job as easy. And then they start using all kinds of specialized machinery that only a professional has. That is why I love these ideas that can be carried out with ingenuity and little physical means. All the best.
I made this yesterday, I replaced the many holes for a long groove in which a washer slides up and down and is fixed in any given angle by a butterfly bolt from behind. Works like a charm. Thanks!
I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm ruclips.net/user/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.
@@TheHibener I made a short video when I got the machine. It is a mix of demonstration and restoration. I will put it up as soon as I get around to editing it!
A nice setup and easy to build. I have my ouachita stones that have served me well for 40+ years and I'll stick with them. But for anyone having a hard time with the angles this is a good rig.
That, my friend looks awesome. I have knives that are 20 odd years old that have never been sharpened, only steeled. OK, but... I'm going to have to give this a try.
Great video. I made this few years ago. I use some eye screws (eye hooks) instead of many holes. For clamping the knife, I plant a neodymium magnet on the base (flush with the surface). It hold the knife steadily and it's easier to flip each side of the knife while honing.
Se invirtió mucho trabajo y esfuerzo en hacer ese afilador de cuchillos de madera, te quedó muy bien..!! Me divertiría mucho fabricando uno de esos..!! Excelente video..!!
I was waiting for you to use machine drill for drilling in metal. Snap me. That too with hand powered! And watching the hand planer was quite therapeutic. Very well executed. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely love this video. Very simple, straight forward, and doable for a novice like me. Definitely will check out your other videos. Especially if you have one for that hand-turned drill press.
The editing is top notch sir, it happens kinda unnoticed but they are espectacular. Well done sir, this is where quality content is diverted from mainstream videos.
Hi, I‘m glad you like it! There isn‘t really a plan or materials list for this project. You can just make it from whatever pieces you find. Dimensions aren‘t critical as long as you construct the angles more or less as shown in the video.
This video made me a subscriber. Well edited, enjoyable to watch the entire way through. This tool is exactly what I needed. Why is knife sharpening so intimidating?

fabrication simple et bien , j'aime bien la perceuse a main , pas la peine de mesurer par rapport au centre chaque côté car la lame une fois placé l angle est différent au 20 cm du début et la hauteur
Fabulous! I like the way how you clamp the knife to the sharpener. A silly tip, for cutting tomatoes just molest your knife on a slab of concrete or brick. The jagged edge cuts the tomato peel very easy. This is shown in a lot of commercials for knives to show how durable they are. But your system really sharpens the knife!
The concerning thing is now people pay 100, 300, even a thousand dollars for these machines. They all essentially do the same thing, so why someone would spend a grand on something like that I don't know.
Hi thank you for the very valuable tutorial I have three questions 1 Which wood did you use for making the sanding brick ? 2. Did you spread the polishing compound directly on the wood of one face of the brick ? 3. Which compound did you use? Thanks a lot Gino
Thanks for watching! The wood for the sanding brick was a piece of beech from an old table leg. Yes, I did spread the compound directly onto the wood. The compound was some generic, medium-fine polishing wax.

essence of simplicity
Blade so sharp that the tomato gets sliced so thinly that it has only one side. Great job.
If you bevel your clamp tips, it'll give you more clearance at the lower angles and for narrower blades.
True. I have just been too lazy :)

이론적으로는 가능하지만 해보면, 센터 수평도 직각도가 맞지 않으면 정확한 각도의 연마가 안됩니다. 차라리 선반에 물려 원통형으로 만들면 정확한 각을 잡을 수 있습니다.
Yes, good point. But then I wouldn’t be able to put several grits on the same arm..

Класс!Без использования кучи станков,резки метала и сварки.Это можно попробовать сделать самому.

Very nice, but your metal clamps are leaving scarring on the blade. Maybe some felt glued to the underside of the clamps will sort that out
Yes, that would be an option.

Hey, thanks for pointing that out. The angles are not exact but they are a good enough approximation. The important thing is the consistency.
