@@portagemule I’m serious, I watch way too much RUclips but you guys got it all down. The storyline, the b roll, not too much music especially while talking, good personalities and voices. Keep it up and you will using that silver play button plaque as a fillet board in no time

Hey Steve, Great to hear from you. I don't know what happened to Mark and Ryan but I wish they would get back out there and keep posting videos. Glad you like our videos. I am the same way when it comes to getting geared up for our trips. I have watched so many of the BWCA videos to get ready to get back on the water and into the woods. We will be taking 3 trips this year and will have videos of each trip. This next video we hope to really focus on showing what lures, baits and gear we are using to catch fish. Check out the Portage Mule website for all our latest trips, videos, music and shirts and hats. Do you have any trips planed if so when are you heading up?
      Happy Paddling! Rob

@@portagemule Heading up Ep 70, north fowl, june 3 for a few days. I am mpls based, with a place just south of ely, so right now that is the only planned trip. We get a lot of bwca adjacent time and can also take a permit that shows up last minute. I subscribed, so I am excited to see new videos!

@@steveduenow2472 We appreciate you subscribing. That is about as far north east as you can go in the BWCA is that correct? Ben and I have only gone out of Ely. I think that we may try the Gunflint next year. What does your route usually look like? Do you base camp and fish the lake your in and take day trips or do you stay on the move? I know that with all our gear we have to base camp.

Hi Taste with new drinks, Thanks for watching. It's great to hear you enjoy the videos. We have a trip planned on May 14th so in about 3 weeks we will be back to the BWCA. I was checking out your channel and those drinks look great. Do you have a recommendation or a drink that you can share with us that we can make while we are up there it will be cold at night so a hot drink around the fire would be fun to make. Talk to you soon and happy paddling. Rob

Ben and I are getting super excited to be heading to the BWCA a month from today. To be there on opening day will be awesome. We should be in Ely on the 13th in the late afternoon and will be at the Boathouse Brewpub and Restaurant for a couple hours to eat and give away a few t-shirts and hats. Going in Early AM on the 14th.

Dude! First, thanks for the quick response. I also love to connect with "the community". I hope you get ice out by the 14th. It looks like this year is going to be a late one. My group's entry is the 24th. I'm taking six others, none of whom have been in the BWCA.
I think your BWCA style is similar to mine, except that I'm probably more lightweight in areas, especially food.
I'm very excited to be renting a canoe that has Wenonah "VersiWale". It's basically a vertical track mount. That, combined with a YakAttak MightyMount 90 degree, and you've got a platform on which to connect your Garmin Striker 4. I use the YakAttak switchblade transducer mount. I'll use another 90 degree to mount my YakAttak Omega Rod holder. I love to troll crankbaits while paddling.
I'll have whopper ploppers for top water. Crankbaits for various depths. Ned rigs. Jigs with twister tails or leech and slip bobber. Spoons and Jigging Rap for vertical jigging for lake trout in particular.

  • @WanderingFromKansas

Am I wrong, or shouldn't the bobber stop stay outside the eyelets? I assume a slip bobber rig allows a knot to go through the eyelets, the knot stops the bobber stop, and the bobber stop stops the bobber (thus the name)
Great video! Looking forward to my next B-Dub adventure! (Won't be long, now!)

Hello Wandering from Kansas. Thank you for commenting. We love being able to interact with other people who love the outdoors. So, Yes you are correct and I may have mis-spoke in the video. I was using a small rubber stop in place of the old string and knot that stops the bead that then stops the bobber. It was my rubber knot that was getting hung up. I have had a few other fishing buddies tell me about them and I like the concept you can check them out at Bass Pro (Bass Pro Shops Bobber Stops $2.49 SKU: 948651) That will give you an idea of my set up on the video. I have a 13 fishing rod it is the Omen Black and that last eyelet is super small. Sometimes I feel like the less fancy equipment works better. My old Lightning Rod didn't have that problem. Thanks for watching and check out our website www.portagemule.com for upcoming trips and cool gear. If you ever see us up there be sure to say hi! Happy Paddling!!! Rob
