  • It took a while, but we’re back with another episode of Wrong Car/Right Car. In this old-but-gold Top Gear Philippines format, we help our guests choose the best car to fit their budget and needs.
Jenelle is our guest for episode two, and she’s in the market for a subcompact crossover. Her shortlist consists of one hybrid and two purely gasoline-powered models: the Honda HR-V, Toyota Corolla Cross, and Mitsubishi X-Force. She’s looking for one that provides decent cargo space, is easy to drive, and, of course, fits her budget. We join Jenelle as she takes a closer look at these three crossovers and brings them out for quick test drives.
Click play on the video above to see which car she ended up choosing, and let us know if you would have made the same decision. Interested in being a Wrong Car/Right Car guest? Drop us a Facebook message.

I feel this was a really missed opportunity for the Toyota dealership. The lady was already a Toyota owner and if she was happy with her Vios, she would have picked Toyota again.
To be fair, hindi lahat ng tao comfortable sa harap ng camera pero it would have helped if they showed more enthusiasm and knowledge about the car.
The Toyota rep felt like he didn't want to be there at all 😅. If that was the case, sana man lang nag assign sila ng mas experienced na agent.
Notice how she praised the Honda agent and picked the HRV in the end. Dealership experience is a major factor in car purchases. Kahit gaano pa kaganda yung car, if a buyer can't connect with the seller, they will probably go to another dealership or go to another brand altogether.

100% true on that. When I try to look for new one to possibly replace my 2nd hand car, most if not all Sales Agents would look at me from head to toe, and judge me right away.
in turn, I will tell my friends who plan to get their new vehicles not to go there anymore. Quite a deal breaker na

But I hope she considers her choice nga. In the end, a few days dealing with the not so approachable agent is worth it kesa magkaron ng regret (hopefully none) na “sana yung Toyota nalang”. Pwede din naman ibang dealer nalang or ibang agent haha.
Total, meron naman better review ang TGPH about the car. So I suggest to her na choose kung anong car talaga nag connect sa kanya and masaya sya na idrive everyday, over sa *possible* na nagustuhan nya lang yung Honda kasi better sales rep. If that’s the Honda na nagustuhan nya talaga, congrats and enjoy Maam! Good choice still 😊

i’ve inspected the HRV at least 3 times. I was about to buy this car, esp with the discount now. but i realized the following cons are quite deal breakers to me: 1) middle passwnger seat is unuseable, 2) in the front seats, heels of both drivers and passengersis impeded by the gas tank below, so essentially you wouldnt be able to position your legs at 90 degrees, 3) actual seat is smaller so your leg is missing at least 2 inches of seat space, 4) head room is too low, and 5) visibility is not good. Basically most of my issues with the HRV were ergonomic related. Lastly pala, basically the HRV and the XForce are B-Segments while the CX is C-Segment, so with the CX you get a slightly larger vehicle.

I didnt know that using a hybrid car in the Philippines exemp you from coding. But another advantage of using toyota hybrid cars is fuel consumption, you can run in pure electric specially if your battery is full in traffic around 30kph, meaning you are not using your petrol at all..here in europe 90% of taxi's are fullhybrid about 80% is toyota. Next week ill be driving my new toyota yaris hybrid 2024.

For me, i choose Mitsubishi X-Force. Cause of the looks nya kasi ang cute nya tignan 😊❤ kasi kung titignan mo sya sa malayo ang ganda nya tignan dhil sa face nya. 😊
Ang kulang lang talaga sa kanya ay 360 camera which is ok lang naman kung wala. Depende na lang talaga sa some parts nya na depends na lang on the price na pwedeng ilagay ayun sa looks nya like LCD screen na 9 to 10” ang lapad then upgrade some parts na pwedeng ikalakas ng appeal nya 😊 yun lang naman basta yung sa price nya pwedeng ilagay ni mitsubishi kung anu man pwede ilagay 🙂

A bit more confidence sana out of one of the SE's in this vid. Won't mention what brand but compared to the other two, that SE felt way less confident and precise.
Not surprised with the HRV tho, feels better to drive esp for girls who don't look after steering feel and dynamics and only wants the lightest steering and a smaller footprint. Somewhat a no brainer already tbh.

Oo i phone gawa na ng china pero headquarters parin sa USA ang pumipili ng quality ng mga pyesa sa assembly nila. Naging made in china lng yung mga branded kasi mura lng labor doon.
