  • "Punky Porky" has a tough road of recovery ahead of her. She was found walking in an abnormal way for a few weeks in a park close to Vernon. It was tricky to tell from afar, but this porcupine turned out to have a deep infected wound on her tail - normally a good weapon of defence in this large prickly rodent! Before flies could lay eggs in her injured rear end, she was dropped off at a veterinary clinic and her wound was clipped & cleaned. She is a little fighter and we will help her as much as possible. Weighing barely 3kg at arrival she is just skin and bones…well, plus a lot of quills. On her way to recovery now, she has received rehydration fluids, medications and is eating her greens well. What a gentle and resilient patient! Update: Porky has moved into the outdoor pen now, equipped with a first "arboreal adventure feature" - a climbing tree.
