Chameleons change colors in so many cool ways so it baffles me when people use filters and edits like this.

Yeah, one of the most believed misconception in the animal kingdom. Chameleons are so fascinating. Why lie about them? If anybody wants to see a REAL color changing animal that changes color like this then look up octopuses.
@@cowhale2488 You are very right my friend. When I was just 8 years old I was blessed enough to go on a trip to Maui, Hawaii. I went snorkeling in a netted-off coral reef sanctuary where they did some research but mostly kept local fish and reefs safe from sharks and urchins for tourists. I saw an octopus change color in person, and just when I was about to surface for air, it vanished before my eyes. Found it again later, got even closer, poof, like a harry potter movie. To this day 20 or so years later nothing has amazed me more than that.
@@sneaks9150 Yeah, its incredible how they can just change not only to the background colors but also to background textures. I find it very strange that chameleons became "the camouflage animals" when they for example have very unique tongues and eyes.
I've seen the "real" videos and they seem very boring. I'm not convinced they change color at all. Everyone says they do, but I haven't seen a single video of that after looking for the past half hour. The only ones that do show a color change appear to be fake according to other vids commenting on them. It seems like they can grow and shrink dark spots and that's it. Boring animal. Chameleons suck

the battery and sunglasses chameleon ar totally fake, they don't change color like that and can't use the whole RGB palette
I've lived with a chameleon and seen a couple change color in person and I agree that they don't change colors like that. The photoshop on the glasses one wasn't even subtle. At least the battery one showed some effort
yea a lot of people don't know the color change usually isn't for blending in with their environment as most people think. Veiled chameleons like the 1st seen here tend to change color based on mood. like when they feel threatened sometimes they will turn a bright yellow with blue spots to appear venomous like some frogs in their ecosystem that predators will avoid. the panther chameleons though can turn some amazing colors, but not like shown in the sunglasses video or the battery one.

Fun fact: Chameleons don’t change colors to camouflage because they have no predators. They instead use it to attract mates and even when fighting other chameleons.

To everyone who said in other comment sections that chameleons only change color based on their emotions and not what their surroundings are, please explain. I don’t know if it varies by species, but it sure looks like these chameleons are changing to what they’re standing on.
