The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers Movie Description:
Continuing the plot of the previous film, it intercuts three storylines. Frodo and Sam continue their journey towards Mordor to destroy the One Ring, meeting and joined by Gollum, the ring's former keeper. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli come to the war-torn nation of Rohan and are reunited with the resurrected Gandalf, before fighting against the legions of the treacherous wizard Saruman at the Battle of Helm's Deep. Merry and Pippin escape capture, meet Treebeard the Ent, and help to plan an attack on Isengard, fortress of Saruman.
The Two Towers was financed and distributed by American studio New Line Cinema, but filmed and edited entirely in Jackson's native New Zealand, concurrently with the other two parts of the trilogy. It premiered on 5 December 2002 at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City and was theatrically released on 18 December 2002 in the United States, and on 19 December 2002 in New Zealand. The film was acclaimed by both critics and audiences, who considered it to be a landmark in filmmaking and an achievement in the fantasy film genre. It received praise for its direction, action sequences, performances, musical score, and CGI, particularly for Gollum. It grossed $936 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film of 2002 and the third highest-grossing film of all time at the time of its release, behind Titanic and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Following subsequent reissues, it has, as of 2021, grossed over $947 million.
Like the other films in the trilogy, The Two Towers is widely recognized as one of the greatest and most influential films ever made. LOTR is truly the best trilogy ever! I watch them at least once a year--I'm at the point where I can just hear a snippet of music and know exactly which movie it is and what scene. And I'm just like Mello, mouthing all the lines and humming the music.

Just to clarify, Gandalf fought the Balrog on top of the mountain they fell into the depths of. Their fight lasted TEN days, traveling from the deepest depths to the highest peak by way of the Endless Stair.
What Orcs and Uruk-hai drink is called “Grog.” It’s a type alcoholic beverage they like to drink to not only get drunk but it’s basically like their water. It has so much alcohol in it is basically gasoline. Fun fact: “Grog” is British slang for alcohol… I believe. 😅
Real life "grog" was essentially 4 parts water to 1 part rum, it was part of the Royal Navy's daily ration to sailors and no doubt was generally popular throughout the seafaring world because of this.
The drink in LotR is likely very different in what it contains, it's never mentioned exactly what it is, but it's known as Orc-draught. Essentially it's a corrupted version of what an elf might drink in that it gives energy and heals a little, but burns as you drink it, like an alcohol.
Everything is British slang for Alcohol, or being being drunk, for example:

Grog in a British context usually refers to a mix of rum and water issued to sailors in the British navy. It’s more generally used as slang for alcohol in Australia & New Zealand.

You have to remember that Elrond lost his brother Elros who chose humanity. Seeing his brother predecease him, even though it was his choice left a mark on him. So seeing his daughter make the same choice but now she will have to be fully alone as her people have sailed to the grey havens. I think it's his last moment to really keep her safe without feeling the pain of grief and loss.
Mortals can't go to the Undying Lands because it'll kill them. It's called that because that's where all the immortals dwell, not because going there makes you immortal.
Oh, and the whole quest from when they left the Shire to when they returned and fought the Battle of Bywater was 13 months and 10 days.

My husband and I have the one ring as our wedding bands. LOTR and HP were huge parts of our individual lives and equally huge parts in our relationship. Glad we aren’t the only ones to think of it.

The reaction is fantastic! I love what he said about reacting to it even though he’s seen it before! The lord of the rings shaped him into who he is, he will react a certain way every time he watches it.
Unless he spots something on another level that he hasn't seen in earlier viewings. Lots of eye candy put in these flix by Peter Jackson et al. The films are "thick" with visual creativity and awesomeness.
The best movie trilogy of all time. This one introduces my favorite character Faramir. I loved the introduction of Treebeard. What I love about these movies is that they stayed so close to the books!

Frodo told Sméagol that he’s seen Sting (the sword) before because he did in the cave highlighted in the Hobbit scene with Bobo Baggins. And at the beginning of the Fellowship of the Ring, Bobo is writing about all his adventures - including that. Since he always told his stories thru storytelling- Frodo must’ve heard this tale from Bobo then. That’s how he knows about Sting. I cried about the connection when I first saw the Hobbit lol - I’m a dork.

Because Bilbo got Sting and met Golum during the events of The Hobbit, and Frodo would have been raised hearing all about that over and over again before the sword was passed to him.
The introduction of Gollum is awesome and it's cool that you know all the words to fellowship of the ring, shows just how passionate you are about the movie and this middle earth world.

It's so worth it, I can't imagine watching the theatrical releases since seeing all the wonderful extra content.
Plus, the behind the scenes stuff is brilliant and there are hours of that beyond the films.
Remember, MellV, at the end of "Return," there's a Frodo voice-over that states, "Thirteen months to the day since Gandalf sent us on our long journey, we found ourselves looking upon a familiar site. We were home."

The “Extended” editions are *the only way to go* when it comes to LOTR.
Didn’t get to see Hobbiton, but got to see the filming locations of the Dead Marshes, The Battle of Pelennor Fields, and the ending location of Fellowship. It was amazing to see these locations and I am so happy I got to see where one of my favorite movie trilogies was filmed. If you ever get the chance you need to go.

Ents are different. They’re like literal shepards and the trees are like sheep in that dynamic. And the marshes are the battlefield from the prologue in The Fellowship of the Ring. That’s why all the corpses are men, elves and orcs.

LOTR universe. You must consider that J.R.R. Tolkien was a devout Catholic.
"Eru lluvatar was transcendent, completely outside of and beyond the world. He first created a group of angelic beings, called in Elvish the "Ainur," and these holy spirits were co-actors in the creation of Arda through a holy music and chanting called the "Music of the Ainur.!
He is also known as "the All-Powerful" and he alone could create independent life, or reality, using the "Flame Imperishable".
The next thing he fashioned was Ea, the
"World and All That Is", and Ea was in the Void (or "the Outside" as it was sometimes called. He then gave the Ainur the option to go into Eä and fashion it as they will. The Greatest Ainur who chose to do so were called the Valar, and they controlled the shaping of Arda. [...]
The Valar were accompanied by the Maiar, the lesser Ainur. Elves and mankind, however, came directly from Ilúvatar's thoughts, and are referred to in The Silmarillion as the "First" and
"Second" Children of Ilúvatar (or Eruhini), respectively."
The Wizards (Saruman the White, Gandalf the Grey, and others) are actually Maiar, so they are not "sorcerers" who cast spells, they are more similar to actual angels. Remember what Gandalf told the Balrog in The Fellowship of the Ring: "I am a servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the flame of Anor. You cannot pass! The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udûn." He's telling the Balrog that he is a servant of God, wielder of divine light.
The reason why it is done this way (having wizards with limited powers inspire and guide the battles against the Enemy) is because in past conflicts, when the Valar did intervene directly, there was massive destruction to the World, with entire continents disappearing under the sea. So this time they decided to have a more... indirect approach.
Hopefully I've managed to give you a better idea of the lore behind, avoiding any spoilers. Can't wait for The Return of the King!

He was sent to Middle-earth in human form around the year 1000 of the Third Age. So his many forms had different ages in length of existing. He’s very cool right! Could he get any cooler!? 😎❤️ Another thing is when he arrived in middle earth he was disguised as an elf and lived among them whilst they were unknowing and he became to be known as Mithrandir to the Quendi/Eldar
However, there is a much longer answer. Like Sauron(former name is Mairon) and the other Istari (the order sent around the same time and of which he was appointed leader but he being who he is and a student of the Vala by the name Nienna and Lorien(Irmo). Gandalf was a Maiar, an angelic spirit created by Eru at the beginning of time and therefor one of the many Ainur who sang the world into being and Eru just helped their creation take shape and basically stated “behold YOUR creation” and basically what happens in that world goes sort of preordained as by that song eons ago so really only the ages after Dagor Dagorath will truly be an age that isn’t full of strife and sadness and longing.
Also. These lamps are what were before even the two trees. These were Giant mountains but also like light houses but housing a great power but it may have also been where two special Maia lived that helped in the creation in the sun and moon after Melkor With eldrich terror Ungoliant killed the trees, so yea Arien is the Maia who basically exists with the sun and her brother and or lover of sorts is the one who wanders with and guides the moon.

These movies have been my favorite since they came out, and the books since I read them at 10. Great reaction - and I don’t care if you’ve seen it before. Because every time you watch them, you see some small detail you missed. Can’t wait for the second half.
When I was in high school the school orchestra did a performance of the lord of the rings soundtrack with clips from the movie in between and I will never forget there was a girl near me who clearly knew nothing of the LOTR. The clip from Fellowship with Gandalf getting pulled doen SHOOK her and she was so shocked like Omygod is he dead is he gone for real?! I hope she ended up finding the movies after that.
Fun fact:Wormtongue is played by Brad Dourif who is better known as Chucky and Billy Boyd who plays Pippin is Chuckys son Glen/Glenda in the Chucky franchise :)
Aragorn is, indeed, a great tracker. Taught by Rangers, himself a partial elf. The men of Numenor are mostly the descendents of Elrond's brother, a grip ago. And yes, this makes Aragorn and Arwen cousins, but many times removed!
The original DVD’s came with booklets full of merch like Arwen’s necklace.
29:00 I played the Return of the King game I think I had it for gamecube it was low key pretty damn good for a movie tie in game, they even had the big battle at helm's deep from Two Towers as a tutorial level and a ton of different playable characters with their own special moves that you gain as you level them up, co-op play with up to 3 players, and they split off into 3 paths (Frodo, Aragorn, and Gandalf each had their own levels) that shit was fun as hell, I remember there were these giant javelins you find every now and then that you can pick up and throw and they one shot any enemy so busted, you can kill bosses that way sometimes haha
it's rich because Arda is supposed to be another forgotten history of our own world which ties to alot of other ancient knowledge and advanced civilizations throughout our world that's usually kept hush hush and made to be some silly thing done by Disney(Atlantis in this case). Tolkien and even his eldest son Christopher Tolkien had thr same reoccurring set of dreams to do with a flooded island and they were in it. He was writing a mythology to give back to England and the Anglo-Saxons(who had their culture and folklore nearlyndestriyed by the larger empires rising at the time) reviving and bringing the culture of the Welsh,Irish, and Finnish back into the world. He is loved in England because he gave back to the WORLD. When you find out more about Of Beren And Lùthien, you'll then find out his inspiration for her, the greatest and most beloved women in middle earth was his wife Edith. Even check out their gravestone pics quickly. Just wow right? Haha ❤️❤️❤️

I’m late to say this, but Aragorn’s casket has an effigy carved on it. Many nobles and royalty had that done upon their deaths. It’s sort of like a REALLY customized headstone.

If you read the books, then it was just a matter of seeing how Jackson imagined it. No real surprises, just the awe of how it was presented.

This is pretty late coming but if you haven't played them, the shadow of mordor games are so fucking good. Getting to stand against a Balrog is one of the things I always wanted ever since the fellowship. Talion and Celebrimbor was such a great pair of characters to meet.

So many of the questions are answered in the book, they did a great job with telling it in the movies but of course you don't have the time to explain as much. Like elvish cloaks having a magic ability to hide the person wearing them. The drink they give Merry was some sort of foul booze that woke him up and they treated his headwound with something bad and it made the scar black.
Saruman has voice magic that makes him seem sympathetic to the person he's talking to but it works badly when there are more than one person listening and he can't be what each one wants to hear. Ents have tree strength, the wall around Isengard is smooth unbreakable rock but he didn't count on an Ent who can do in seconds what a tree root does in 100 years so the Ents could break into Isengard and bring it down.
The book can be a hard read due to the language but once you are used to it it's well worth reading and rereading. Best book like the movies are the best trilogy.
I highly recommend watching the appendices if you have access to them. They're so so fun and informative

There was a scrapped idea for arwen to arrive at halms deep. There exists a few still shots of liv tyler there fighting alongside viggo. Im glad they did it the way they did. There was also a segment of uruks breaking through into the glittering caves and eowyn also fought but was cut due to "too much violence".
Actually in Phantom Menace Qui-gon is in fact the main character as the movie follows his perspective up until he’s killed at which point it switches to Obi-wan.

Please come to nz bro, you'll love it! Many of the locations are still around, I recommend visiting Wellington, Queenstown and Milford Sound. Milford Sound looks like it's plucked right out of the films.

After the hobbit trilogy was released. I had to do a Tolkien marathon. Watching the hobbit an unexpected Journey all the way to the lord of the rings & the return of the King,😂 extended edition of course. That’s what 90 hours straight. 😂😂😂😂
It's alright. i actually thought it was cool that you knew a lot of the lines. Shows you're a true fan when you have something that memorized. The only stuff that I'd say I have (or had) memorized line by line was Black Hawk Down, Full Metal Jacket, the classic animated Transformers movie, and the of Halo trilogy (I know, random group of films and games)
Also, while I didn't get into Lord of the Rings til recently, I love those Shadow of modor games they made.

Y’all want lembas bread?? There’s some fan recipes out there! Here’s my fave, which I literally saved to my notes for safekeeping:
Ingredients
2 1/2 c all purpose flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c butter
1/3 c brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp honey
2/3 c heavy whipping cream
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 425F. Mix the flour, baking powder and salt into a large bowl. Add the butter and mix with a well till fine granules (easiest way is with an electric mixer). Then add the sugar and cinnamon, and mix them thoroughly.
2. Finally add the cream, honey, and vanilla and stir them in with a fork until a nice, thick dough forms.
3. Roll the dough out about 1/2 in thickness. Cut out 3-inch squares and transfer the dough to a cookie sheet.Criss-cross each square from corner-to-corner with a knife, lightly (not cutting through the dough).
4. Bake for about 12 minutes or more (depending on the thickness of the bread) until it is set and lightly golden.
5. Let cool completely before eating, this bread tastes better room temperature and dry. Also for more flavor you can add more cinnamon or other spices.

Hobbits eat way more than most men, as they eat seven meals at least, therefore you need a whole Lembas to fill a Hobbit, but they're rationing theirs a little more carefully than to eat their fill, which is smart.
Gandalf at Moria mentioned that Bilbo and Gollum had their encounter, of course he didnt mention that they had a Riddle Off and Bilbo cheated, granted his life was on the line but that was still bad form.

having seen the Animated version of LOTR as a kid, i knew that Merry and Pippin werent dead, but i enjoyed the scene nonetheless.
simple, the spear missed his spine, therefore his ability to walk was unhindered thanks to his adrenaline, he was probably knowing full well that he was gonna die from his wounds, so he was gonna take it out on those Hobbits before he died.
CGI can never fully replace Animatronics, movies always suffer when studios try to replace it.
of course i feel sorry for Smeagol, the problem is that 500 years his mind was poisoned by the ring, Smeagol is practically mentally ill, he didnt choose to be that way, he is a victim in all of this.
Smeagol is one of the Riverfolk, akin to Hobbits but instead of living in the earth, they live by Rivers and Lakes, love to swim and fish.
had the Fellowship not broken up, Rohan and Gondor would have fallen to Mordor and Isengard, Merry and Pippin needed to do what they did to turn the tide, as the Ents wouldnt have taken down Isengard without them, nor would Sauron had thought that The Ring was at Minas Tirith.
Frodo told Smeagol to lead them to The Black Gate, he didnt say that he wanted to sneak into Mordor, Smeagol really did only what was asked of him.
Aragorn let Grima go because he was a helpless lapdog, it would've been cold blooded murder if he let Theoden kill him, it wouldnt give Theoden anything more than regret later had he killed him.
just two, Smeagol and Gollum. Gollum is the killer, the one who "protects" Smeagol from those who would hurt him or wrong him.
Theoden's order to leave the dead was the right move, the longer they were out in the fields, the more vulnerable they were, Aragorn was not worth risking all their lives to recover a body, "the needs of the many, outweight the needs of the few."
The Undying Lands wouldnt have stopped Aragorn from aging to death, he is Half-Elven, so he lives by mortal lifespans, save for having retained his youth for longer.
he talks to Arwen like that because she is all he has left of a family and he doesnt want her to suffer, Aragorn does not have much time left, she would be living the rest of her days mourning him. also you need to understand that at that time his faith in humanity was lacking, he wasnt wanting her to be with a mortal man to begin with.
