In our latest Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim video we dive deep into the lore surrounding Stendarr.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

The vigilants of Stendaar need their own proper quest as a guild one can join
There might be a mod for that, I hope so at least.
There are at least 3 mods that I know leting you play as a Vigilant.
There are two mods which I’ve used for that. One is Vigilance, the other is No Mercy. No Mercy is on Steam and Vigilance is on the nexus.
"No Mercy" is a short but really great quest, too bad it's not on Nexus, i'd love to play it again. Another one is simply known as "Vigilant of Stendarr Quests", it's an earlier but overal great mod. Let's you join and perform series of quests. Seems unifnished, since it just stops after a number of (really good) quests. Third one is "Faction Vigilant of Stendarr", let's you join after performing small tasks and it's good for role playing since you can patrol the regions, brew potions or just chop wood, in addition to hunting monsters. Then there's the Vigilant mod, that I've heard is great and will paly on my next playthrough.
Interesting NPCs has a mod involving Vigilants and it's actually amazing, worth checking out.
Edit - Also I'd recommend Stendar's Beacon Enhanced mod, simple mod expanding the beacon in a lore friendly way and good for role playing a vigilant.
Any of these on ps4?
The Vigilant's of Stendarr needed to be more fleshed out. Still Roleplaying a Stendarr Worshipping Paladin is fun even without a Guild to join
Tarlo The Boar join the collage of winterhold
Join the dawnguard and college of winterhold. Both guilds are fitting for a restoration warrior character.
I once played a holy character build and named him Rolan Ignitus, an imperial. I used the alternate start mod to start as a vigilant of Stendarr wondering around skyrim doing quests whilst making my way to helgen. By the time I returned to the hall of the vigilants, my brethren were slaughtered and burnt to the ground by vampires. It was then where I honed my warrior and holy abilities to prove my worth to not only avenge my fallen comrades, but be a true vigilant of Stendarr to rid the daedric abominations to oblivion.
soldiergigas14 That character description DIDN'T make me cringe into the next dimension. I'd say that's pretty good.
Turbo cheers ✌👌👍
I'm were wolf dumb dumb I hate vampires they kill the innocent I only kill who deserve it except when my characters insaneses takes over and I kill innocents on accident
@@ainzooalgownoverlord8913 ok
@Ulysses Fontaine that's cool.
Stendarr: Peace be with you, for i am a merciful god.
Vigilants: DIE HERETIC! FOR STENDARR!!
Sounds like a certain religion on this world.
*cough* Imperium of man much *cough*
I see nothing wrong with this.
@@CCPJAYLPHAN1994 Go on. Which one?
@@Frodo_Prime don't wanna trigger the SJW
This video makes me want to start a new playthrough as a Vigilant of Stendarr/Paladin.
illahstrait I just started that yesterday
Too bad there just isnt enough qeusts for it you have dawnguard and thats all I would really love to see an actual vigilant of stendarr questline I know there is a mod agents of righeous might but that one is really bugged and unpolished...
Pjer Dujmovic There's a mod that makes the Vigilants of Stendarr a joinable faction with Keeper Carcette being alive. She gives you some radiant quests. It's not much but it pairs up well with the Alternate Start and Dawnguard.
FM have a build on exactly that.
TitanSubZero15 I mean I play on ps4 so that doesnt mean much to me...
Some people will accuse the Vigilants of hypocrisy but I disagree.
A quick death is quite merciful.
Plus lets be real. Like in real life there probably are different interpretations of the same figure even amongst the same region as is to be expected with a semi-decentralized religion. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised is some of his previous incarnations like the much more strong fisted Nordic one bleed into the local cults.
Daedra worshipper aren't really someone who will give mercy to others. They will probably soul trap you and then offer your soul to their daedric Lord.
Am I the only one who's never been to the Hall of The Vigilant cus it keeps getting burnt down before I get there?
You’re not the only one I’ve never been there either
I've been there, after it's burned down
Haha! Never been there either
Only before dawnguard came out
Lakis Kettle go at lv 8 or lower
This one was with the Vigilants once. But when this one returned to their place was nothing but ash. Oh well, time to get moon sugar.
Pleasure me oh dear Stendar with your massive hammer of justice
Oh yes stendar, harder
why
Because JUSTICE OHHH HARDER STENDIE
That's a good one
i laughed aloud at that :)
I'd love to see a build about a Vigilant of Stendarr who keeps accidentally stumbling upon every Daedric quest, and is a reluctant champion to them all untill he basically accepts he's destined to be a daedrologist. Oh, and he's super sarcastic.
I personally think that the vigil's use of maces(I always see them with maces) is supposed to emulate the Hammer of Stendarr, as a mace is the closest thing to a hammer.
Apart from, you know... a warhammer.
Time for Skyrim Jokes:
Yo Mamma so dumb, she tried to book a flight on the Dragon Bridge.
Yo mamma so dumb, she thought Alduin was a genie who granted 3 wishes.
Yo mamma so skinny, you could block a door with 2 Lydia's and she'd still get through.
First two don’t make much sense... the last one though? Damn, that’s good!
@@sporeham1674 pretty sure that's what everyone that liked his comment did it for 😂
@@sporeham1674 I believe the second joke was attempting to say that "Alduin" sounds similar to "Aladdin".
For the first joke I think it's because the bridge is named "Dragon's Bridge", which could infer that it is a literal dragon that can fly, hence "booking a flight"
Pray To Stendarr while you can!
how do the vigilants feel about dark elves and their traditional worship? and similarly, what about orcs and malacath? and Meridia in general since they both share an immense hate for the undead?
Some of the vigilants are dark elves. In fact, they are the only elven kind known to be vigliants.
I think it depends on the Vigilant, but most have a very narrow view of the Daedra, believing any and all Daedra to be evil alongside their followers, even ones like Azura
@@killval849
That's not true, there are high elf vigilants too
After doing the Meridia quest & getting Dawnbreaker, they start targeting me & attack. So any daedra is considered bad
@@JuhiSRK
Rightfully so
Thanks for making a video about Stendarr! Vigilants of Stendarr are my favorite faction and by far favorite role play in Skyrim.
Alexander Guerrinus really a missed oppurtunity that you can't join them in Skyrim.
Vigilant of stendarr build soon? Maybe using Stendarr's Hammer?
The WolfPrince yeah probably, i would asume only defensive restoration and fkesh spells
Vaultdweller 127 fire perhaps or illusion
The Vigil and Dawnguard are my most favorite factions in the game. It's a shame you can't join he former. I hope the next Elder Scrolls has some successor to either of them. I love playing the righteous Holy Knight (doesn't hurt that the Dawnguard armor looks awesome too).
Has anyone had this happened before. I freed a prisoner of the Thalmor. They attack because of course they do. Next a random vampire appears who is being chased by vigilants. My character is a vampire so the Dawnguard appear. Needless to say I unlocked a few vampire Lord perks from this encounter.
It is kinda silly that the Vigilants don't even carry anything that effectively takes advantage of the shrine blessing in Skyrim. 10% extra block for spellswords who neither use shields nor even have the ability to block with a weapon as they use spells in the left hand. They don't even typically wield two-handed weapons that could at least do weapon blocking, and 10% extra block on a Silver Greatsword would be pretty handy against the undead and werewolves, but they don't even carry silver weapons - just plain steel from what I can tell - only the Silver-Hand carry silver weaponry. The Silver-Hand are more equipped to deal with *the undead* than the Vigilant of Stendarr are, and most of the Hand are basically bandits with a bone to pick with werewolves. And just look at the spells they are equipped with: Levels 5-25 only Oakflesh and Lesser Ward, two incredibly weak and ineffectual protection spells, and only the most basic healing spell. I think Isran is right, the Vigil is under-trained and under-equipped to deal with the unholy threats that plague Tamriel. If they are meant to prevent another Oblivion Crisis, then Mara have mercy on us all.
LOL they are always out to get me along with assassins, and the dawngaurd ... it's fun to be chased around as a vampire
Vigilants: WALK IN THE LIGHT OR WE'LL DRAG YOU TO IT!
I wish the Knightly orders that were around in Arena and Daggerfall were present in the Modern games. Have the warrior monks like the vigils but then also have the knights of Stendar to make being a vampire more challenging. Heres how it goes so vigils of stendar in restoration robes wielding blunt weapons they believe their faith will protect them, Dawngaurd are fanatic and better equipped but are reckless and more akin to the people crusades and so have subpar stats, but then Knights of Stendar in heavy plate using a bunch of Stendar's aura, and vampires bane and wielding great swords enchanted with sun damage and they could have a chantry or temple of stendar at like the mouth of a river
Edit: Changed wielding blunt to wielding blunt weapons
Ken Rolston, one of the lead designers in Morrowind and Oblivion (he wrote imperial Legion and Imperial Cult questlines), wanted a knightly order dedicated to each Divine in Morrowind game, similar to Daggerfall, but that idea was either rejected or they just didn't have enough time. Imperial Cult was the last quest written for Morrowind, in quite a hurry so it was very rushed. Originally it was planned to be much more fleshed out. Also, there's an unused Imperial Knights faction in Morrowind's Construction Set, with one of the higher ranks being a "paladin". Supposed to be a elite faction of the legion with knights and paladins.
Should have kept the wielding blunt on
Can we please have a Vigilant of Stendarr build ?

Thanks Scott on your awesome videos
Upon reading up about the vigilants, I can see why Isran gave up on them; they’re spread too far out, and require refinement within their doctrines. I love the concept so damn much, and their flaws, from a writing perspective, make them even more interesting.
I would love to be able to rebuild them like you can with Blades.
he sounds like the real god thats pretty awesome
Does this mean that the Greybeards are Skyrim's NWA? 🤔
All they do is spit fire 👌
(Also: Martin Septim is Tamriel's Eminem)
I love your vids keep it up
Standarr: The God of Mercy and Forgiveness
Also Stendarr: **Is the only Aedra with a Private Militia organization**
Interesting I just started a Knight of stendarr build three hours ago
I just started kill stendars fanatics build I kill all of stendars fanatics.
Ainz Ooal gown Over lord let me guess somebody stole your sweetroll?

Vigilant of Stendarr: Walk always in the light, or we will -
Me: GFY.
Please do Zenithar next!!! You guys are killing it in 2019 already :]
super helpful for my new playthrough as a vigilant of stendarr
Awesome video
Could you guys please do a video on if it's possible to be a hybrid of a Vampire & a Lich in the ES Lore ? Thanks & keep up the good work !
I’ve only ever visited the vigilants one time. After the dawnguard, the house is always burned down.
"King and Country." Ah, how I love it!
Mod idea, Joining the Vigilants adds more deadra to hunt during random wild events, cities have more vampires in disguise or deadra worshipping cults meeting in taverns or shops afternight. Some require combat, some can be talked down or reasoned with. Maybe even integrated with Wintersun for gaining favor. Quest expansions for deadric items to collect and "severe" the deadric connections. Lore friendly reason to own all artifacts without every deadric lord claiming ownership of your soul...
If they make an elder scrolls lore based movie it should be the song of pelinal that has to be one of the coolest stories in the lore and would make for a good film
That bastard forsaken me in coldharbour, the horn got rusty and y threw it away.
love lore videos
Nice vídeo!
:)
also the vigilants are the best warriors in the land, only falling to the mighty 3 vampire thralls
I know im about 2 years too late but does anyone know what mod the armor is in the thumbnail ? Wanna use it for a build.
Could you make a video that explains what happon to everything when aldoin the world eater ends this kalpa end what happons when the new kalpa begis, what is the aktual proses of this??
*BLESSINGS OF STENDARR UPON YOU!*
How about Julianos next? Or Magnus?
I would love to see a arkay video
Your thumbnail gave me an idea, what if ES6 used the Fallout 4 Layer armor system.
Anyone know the armor the Vigilants are wearing in the thumbnail?
Y'all should make a Stendarrs champion build video
Green skulls in an orange lighter’s blue flame.
You should make a video about chrysamere🙏
Anybody know what mod they were using for the thumbnail
So you know how Barbus the dog is basically half of clavicus vile the daedra? Yeah, you know what I'm about to say. I took him into the main meeting building of these guys and they didn't even recognize him as a daedra. So much for hunting daedra as their primary goal in life. They don't even know how they look, even with all the books and statues of them, they haven't a clue what their looking for 😂🤣
Do Arkay next plz:)
If you guys do a vigilant of stendarr build then I suggest using the vigilant mod
I have trouble with seeing Stendarr as merciful after meeting Kellen in kotn an young man who has been weak and sickly his entire life from a curse because his forefather offended Stendarr. If we hadn’t come along to take on the curse he probably wouldn’t lasted much longer.
There is nothing merciful in that. I see Stendarr and his worshippers as something that appears nice. But look closely and it become a lot more rotten.
I feel like buying Skyrim special edition, does it come with all DLC?
the DLC are the only things i didnt play (or finish) in the game so i might actully buy it to also play around with the mods
Special Edition does come with all the trimmings, yes.
I wish we had more on Julianos.
My main build is a heretic that worships daedra but also stendarr, its intersting that all this factors in to my playstyle
Its 3 in the morning but fuck it I'm watching thos
What mod did he use for the armor In the thumbnail?
Holy shit my comment got highlighted
3 years later and I'm wondering: did you find the armor?
How is then boethia allied with stendarr, I looked this up on the daedric/aedric relationship guide is says boethiah allies with stendarr
Phoniex crow boethiah hates molag bal, the father of vampires. Kind of a stretch though.
Thalmor Inquisitor i know that,im asking why would boethiah, god of destruction, queen of shadows, and he who destorys, and she who rebels, would allign with an aedra, who is a god of mercy? Im just confused
The Vigil will be watching you.
4:30 that makes no sense to be in a position to require Mercy you must have nothing left to give
I always thought it would be cool if the Vigilants of Stendarr merged with the vampire hunters in Skyrim (I’m forgetting their name) and that one werewolf hunting group.
Im thinking of buying the game on Xbox one, but im going to get a pc later on, that this game have xbox play anywhere feature?
Don't wanna end up buying the game twice
You need to make a stendarr at build soon
Blessings of Stendarr upon ye
3:44 the aura is totally useless against vampire night embrace ability,
one of the vigilant took on my female vampire build character using the aura,
she used night embrace bat power, a flock of bats, flying around her, the vigilant guy got killed by it.
Do you know where Stendarr stands with Meridia?
Maybe Stendarr only abhors the 4 Abominations as factions rather than as individuals.
Example: If you ever encountered a Werewolf or a Vampire who detests their state of being, do they really deserve to be smitten?
A good video on my fav god :)
*me* runs by as a Breton in full Forsworn armor, carrying a Bound Battleaxe
*human Vigilant with a fucking Dunmeri Vigilant LITERALLY RIGHT BEHIND HER* "ooh... such colors!"
Like, I get that they're straight-up Eldar-before-Fulgrim-on-Maiden-World incompetent, but just... Eight and fucking Talos, woman...
Walk always in the light or we will drag you to it!
I was so disappointed we couldn't become a vigilant of stendarr.
There's a mod *cough cough*
@@joemcle6521 Yeah I know, and have it,but I meant a real story line with more then just fetch quests.
@@krisguntner4805 Have u heard about a mod that allows you to join the vigilant and is not just fetch quests as you actually have to fight the enemies of Stendarr
@@joemcle6521 No the one I have doesn't do that.
Are you talking about a mod or creation club?
@@krisguntner4805 A MOD THERE IS A MOD CALLED VIGILANT
Stendar swordsman build???
That'd be cool
see though, even though Stendarr is the divine of Mercy, what do you think they'd do if they saw serana? and she helped defeat her own father from destroying the world. I've never even see her feed. technically she wouldn't have to. And that goes for any other vampire who isnt evil really. its hard to overcome something like that, so maybe the Vigilantes could train them how to live, (or unlive i guess, lol) better. that would be charity, justice, and mercy. Plus being a vampire gives you innate strength. they would make fine vigilants for evil beings that couldn't be helped. Same thing goes for Werewolves. Do all the companions deserve to die to?
TLDR good job on the justice thing, but not so good on the mercy...
have you heard of the high elves?
Cool
"Pray to Stendarr while you can!..."
Man it would have been so awesome if they actually smarten up and made Fort Dawnguard their HQ
1:39 HERESY.... FORGIVABLY, THATS NOT WHAT THE EMPEROR OF MANKIND SAID. Warhammer 40k reference
Can someone who's a Werewolf be a priest/Cleric of Stendarr and by performing good acts and follow Stendarr's teaching would he be able to cleans himself of his lycanthropy?
Stendarr Vult
Dude this god is lit. I know who I'm gonna worship noe
If only their temple is not a repurposed tavern
I wish most of the people in Skyrim would accept at least ONE of the Daedra (cough AZURA cough) since they aren't all bad.
For the average person in Tamriel, they *_are_* all bad.
Have you guys ever played Daggerfall or ESO? I feel like excluding two rich and lore heavy games is kinda dumb imo.
This video is better than the JL movie.
do one for sheogorath! :D fish sticks!
Better than the actual justice league
Android he was talking about the shity movie
The movie was okay/average and I'll admit the DCEU needs fixing, but JL *comics* are a thousand times better more entertaining than Marvel comics these days.
Emrys Wledig I agree but most people (and a part of me ) think that it was shit
Anyone else come here to find out what armor mod the vigilantes were using
I may make a Stenderr themed build using Dawnguard heavy armour Dawnguard rune shield and Dawnbreaker though it may not be from Stenderr i see Merdia as the exception when it comes to daedra. I'll use restoration spells of course to spread his word
So basically the only God's worth worshiping if you're human are Talos Shor and Stendarr
Monster hunters
But I'm a good mage werewolf! D:
