Awesome job. I'm absolutely thrilled to be any degree of inspiration for this. Also sorry for pushing the drug that is FPV on you. I can't believe you cut that frame by hand. I take the same approach as you in making whatever I can myself and have been down that path so I feel your struggle. very excited to see future videos.
@@TrentTationnaiseXization advice for recovery? Unfortunately Samm is no longer with us. I think about him often and am so so sad to have such a capable talent leave us.
I did almost the same thing, except after buying a bunch of frames. Making something you can fly at home is amazingly rewarding! Also if your ecs's can run Multishot you can change the startup beeps to 3 other sounds. Cheers!
Sweet video, I'm impressed that you jumped right in and designed your own frame! And I know this was a while ago, but your friend asked if you can have a different jingle when your ESCs armed. Well, now with the latest BLHeli_S you can! 🙂
well done and keep at it. that power train should absolutely scream. the raptors are great and so are the FCs you could even run tri-blades on that system for massive gratification.
Hey man great video! One thing of note: you are using really good components minus the ESCs, which make the biggest difference in how the quad flies. If you're interested in upgrading, the favorite littlebee 20a ESCs only cost about $14 a piece and will perform far better.
Nice job dude, clean build. I recommend a pigtail extension for your expensive VTX though, I just killed a 200mw immersion not doing so. Also wanted to add that if you have trouble putting it down gently because it's just got tons of power, a slightly more shallow throttle curve for that bottom 20 or will help give more resolution there but still feel the same for flying.
Nice work. I did a similar build, but out of basswood. It was pretty light and very cheap, though it couldn't compete with carbon fiber. I'll see if I can get access to a CNC machine eventually.
You are awesome and never fail to interest me enough to focus 100% on your videos. Always clever and interesting. P.S.: Your channel is one of the best practical RC/Airplane/Quad channels on RUclips...

First of all, Great Job!! I must however say I was shocked to see the CF being cut, sawed, and drilled with no dust management system. a 2 micron system is needed to protect your young, brilliant lungs from irreversible damage from the CF dust. 2 micron solutions are available cheap and decent systems start less than 300 from Harbor Freight & others. Please do a little research to become familiar with the risks you are taking. All the best to you. Your designs are very nice. be well sir.
I choose to mill my frame as my first project on CNC mill i used 2mm PCB mill (10 pcs for 10E) on homemade CNC mill and result was flawess, try propper millbits... and glue carbon plate to wood or mdf plate with doublesided tape.
Wait, so how much did everything cost all together? I'd like to think the one I build was "budget" at ~$400, but I'd like to know what yours was so I can compare.
You can send your design off somewhere and have it cut for you. Takes a couple weeks to a month turnaround depending on who you go to. I've had good experiences with this.
It was mostly a learning experience and an excuse to use the CNC's. But I definitely see that outsourcing would be the best way to produce and sell these.
I don't necessarily sell them. Any I've sold I've made 0 profit. I just like to apply my own ideas and enjoy it when other people want to use my frames as well. My idea of a frame was quite different than most stacked plates so I just HAD to try it. No excuse needed to create stuff!
good job on this, i really enjoyed it. one thing that you might want to do is put some double sided tape on the bottom of the esc so if you brush past a branch it doesn't tear it off
Hello, could you make a pdf file or something with every single parts you used to make the body? It could be so cool, I totaly love your design but I don't know much about quads
I know nothing about drones, but wouldn't it be better to put the camera on a rotating frame on the drone? It would make it all heavier but that way you don't have to maneuver the whole drone when you want to turn
Very cool demo. I didn't know so many things could go wrong with a cnc machine. Could it have been the rigidity of the carbon fiber? Thank you for the video.
dude u put 20 a esc but most of the youtubers says that put that esc in which 20% extra remaining amperes like 30a and even if we pair a 20a esc with a 2205 2300kv motor with 3s the max draw current is around 19.2.... so maybe the chance of burning esc simple the question is that can we pair the 20a esc with 19.2a max draw current motor is it safe ?
I did consider making some elaborate shapes to take advantage of what a 3d printer can do but: 1. easy to model 2. Accurate dimensions to test how things will fit with a flat plate of carbon. This prototype model wasn't meant for structural performance. 3. The way a 3d printer builds flat floors and ceilings is pretty strong compared to non-planar surfaces

You could do it for around 300 to 400. Though good FPV goggles are already that much by themselves. I'd also recommend getting a little cheerson cx-10 just to get your brain understanding how to control the things. Will make flying the expensive stuff much easier.

With Armattan Productions you submit a design to their website (armattanproductions.com/). They will verify the design (check to see if your not stealing someone elses design) that will take a couple of days. After this they will tell you the price at which they will sell you the design (their prices are very competitive). Then you can set up a shop on their website where they can sell you the frame for whatever price you would like that is above the cost of the frame. You can then purchase the frame for yourself. As far as carbon goes, they will use carbon fiber from 1mm to 5mm and they only use the highest quality carbon fiber. As far as selling the frame goes if it is unsuccessful it wont cost you anything to sell the frame so you have nothing to lose. The frame also looks super durable so if you got the price low enough it could be a good first or learning racing frame. If you have any other questions go to armattans productions website and you can find more answers there. Best of luck!

Like , the motor tabs, they would be a LOT stronger in the direction they need to be if they were rotated 90 degrees !? Do you know good ways to connect pieces of carbon fiber together that is as strong as the carbon fiber elements themselves (and without weighting too much more) ?
Hi sam i need your help...how can i calculate the C rate for my lipo.?? which is the c rate that i need in order to prevent the damage of it ...if my motor squeze the batery..high drain of current and low c rate..i hope to be clear with my question..thanks for your video they help me a lot.
The capacity multiplied by the c rating of the battery gives you the maximum current they the battery can safely deliver. Or so that's the theory. So 1000mah (or 1 amp hour) times 70c is 70 amps max current draw

Why did you do the 3d-printed version flat?
Most of the load is in the thin direction of the arms, both when flying and crashing.

Would you of had better luck with the carbon fiber cut out at your school had you done the arms and body separate? Then made the arms attachable.
I don't think that would have made a difference. I just needed more time to figure out how to do it right.

To get the frame built use armattan productions and they could sell the frame for you.

200mmx300mmx0.5mm 7.87"x11.81" 93in^2 9.20$ 0.099$/in^2
200mmx300mmx1.0mm 7.87"x11.81" 93in^2 13.39$ 0.144$/in^2
200mmx300mmx1.5mm 7.87"x11.81" 93in^2 15.15$ 0.163$/in^2
200mmx300mmx1.5mm 7.87"x11.81" 93in^2 15.43$ 0.166$/in^2
200mmx300mmx1.5mm 7.87"x11.81" 93in^2 23.06$ 0.248$/in^2
