True fact about me: Last time I made a courageous move, I went from working a job I hated to freelancing and making 10x more money with 1000x the freedom. That move completely changed my life. Now I'm bored with freelancing and this clip made me realize I need to take the same decision again. Don't be afraid.
that s.o.b. micheal malice has really grown on me. i like his views and thoughts more than i expected. great interview lex, i loved watching the full four hours as well. congrats on your well deserved success.
Agreed. Live your life until you've realize you don't need it anymore, due to have enjoying it all. So when you die and you can leave the Earth with a slight-smirk on your face. Then leave the Earth a tad bit more beautifully for the next generations. Just try this simple goal, it's not much. This is the least we can do.
Lex. Your choice of guests and conversations are exceptional. I recommend your channel at every opportunity. I am severely dyslexic so your formatting is perfect for a dyslexic who has the OCD label who has worked in both analytical science oriented career and constructive engineering I’d just like to highlight that for dyslexic minds, the guest who advised read read read with such emphasis is extremely intimidating for dyslexics and could even predispose a dyslexic to some dangerous mental health problems. When I was a youth, in the age group this conversation is reaching out to, I would have immediately sad to myself.. ‘Well that’s me screwed’ I’m sure you will take this as constructive to highlight in future conversations. I’m so proud of you and your story and excited and about your future. You’re a new hope. Peace Love and Respect from Scotland. Mike x ☯️ In a 52 father of 5 and I agree with these guys.

There's no money when I try to live courageously. That's the problem. We live in perpetual fear of being broke forever without being able to buy a house. That's why we stay in safety. A boring job with no prospects because of the guaranteed income it provides. How can we break free from that?
2:00 think about all the innovators and the technologists and the businessmen who leave the world a better place by a big shock but are never happy never happy in their own in their own souls and known in their own life and to me that's what counts and if you're going to be happy you'll leave a better world of better that's what john symbolizes to me it's it's living your life by your standards by your values and and and pursuing pursuing that that happens 3:30 focus on focus on you focus on making your life the best life that it can be and if you do that you'll make the world a better place by almost by definition 11:00 Give value to people and be with them 13:11 spend time understand your values its not only that 15:30 lol get world class advice from people who are great just buy them stuff etc
I was born in 85. Would you say people were more, or less open minded back then? What part of the conversation would have been so heretical as you say?
I think Yarons advice is kind of childish to be honest. The never renege on what you believe idealism is passionate but just isn't rooted in reality. There were alot of uncompromising types that did plenty of damage throughout history too. So it's far from a good model to approach. Even Ayn Rand threw out her principles when it suited her (she took social welfare payments despite being against it). You should never give up your integrity but rather the estimations we sometimes have about our desires are outlandish. You could make a strong argument that compromising in life is probably one of the quickest routes to happiness. My two cents.
You may have to compromise in certain situations. The point is not to compromise on rational principles that you have integrated into your life/mind/soul. This assumes we agree the primary source of happiness is self-esteem, and that integrity is one element in achieving it.
@@matthewstroud4294 I agree largely in what you have said. But I think Yaron sounded a little more extreme than you have put that. I mean for one thing our principles can change throughout life and in a way that is a compromisation. I think Yaron thinks in a very individualist way, which I think isn't very helpful to society in most instances. Now that may not be his intention, but at least to me this is not what I would call a meaningful life.
@@robertpirsig5011 Objectivism is based on "a philosophy for humans living on Earth". At it's core are the principles of how to give everyone the tools to live the best life they can. Ethics under this philosophy are about how YOU should act in YOUR life, not about others. So it is a philosophy of Individualism. That does not mean it is not benevolent or loving.
@@matthewstroud4294 Im not passing judgement on how Yaron lives his life. That's his business. But in this instance he is offering advice or in other words telling others how they should live. In the sense you are talking about all principles are individualist as they are rules you keep with yourself and that's fair enough. But It's his values I don't agree with and have rejected it based on my own values. Specifically he says at one point you don't even need to live a life that is good for society. I don't agree with that. Not sure what else I can say here.
@@robertpirsig5011 That's fine. In a Capitalist system we would all be free to have the values we choose. What we shouldn't be able to do is force others to conform to our morality/politics.

damn bro, i went to freelancing and im almost broke. been trying to dig out ever since.
thats the thing about taking risks. The results can be glorious, or horrible.
The idea of growing up and realIzing I didn’t make it scares me enough to the point where I can’t let that happen
Don't let fear be the main driver. Is all I would say.
Success is maximizing potential.
Ahh, you'll get over it. 😂
Also depends on what you mean by making it. Our expectations can be the real source of our collective misery.

What book was Yaron talking about?
Hard to make out what he's saying there.
Atlas Shrugged - Ayn Rand
I hope his mathematician/engineer son writes new Futurama episodes.

everyone criticizes sam harris while he's not around
His ideas are out there for people to address, why does he need to be anywhere?
Sam is not intellectually honest with himself. Why debate with someone that lacks integrity.... u get what you deserve
