    did you take out the quiet insert? If so put that back in.

    Thanks for reply. The exhaust is still like it came in the box, Some people recommend to replace the front sprocket for a smaller but I dont want to rev the engine too much on the highway

    DSOXBLADE Removing the baffle increases airflow. This can cause unwanted side effects on a bike with stock fuel injection mappings. Adding a unit such as a Power Commander and setting a custom map would sort this issue and probably add some more HP.

    • @ylism
      @ylism 10 лет назад

      But this bike has a carb, no FI. So no problems with Fi, or need of a power commander. It would be a fun 250 to ride..((: > ) )

  • @ztrack157

    The inserts are designed to make more power.
    This is AFM racer Kirk Korenko's bike. Jetting, race fuel, BRT ignition system with custom mapping.

    @theFithWheel if the air fuel mixture isn't as rich, the bike is burning fuel more effectively rather than sending it out of the tail pipe as raw fuel. MPG will probably stay the same for round town sensible riding but will no doubt drop substantially when wide open throttle is the norm.

    @motoseteo wide open exhausts don't create enough back pressure to scavenge all the burnt fuel from the cylinder after combustion. Put the insert back in and back pressure returns, cleaning the cylinder out of all burnt fuel. You need a flowed head with cams and degree wheels plus fuel mapping to use a wide open exhaust and that's a lot of money invested.

    @SportsSavage we set the bike up using only the exhaust and no power commander type fuel management system. If you want the perfect fuel map, you need to get that equipment. The bike ran well enough that we didn't see the need for extra money to be spent in that direction.

    @SportsSavage honestly there are 2 tings you need. 1. A smaller rear sprocket to bring the rpms down and give you greater fuel economy and 2. a fuel management system that gives you much better fuel efficiency. Tie that in with a Leo Vince system and you will have a bike that gives the best fuel economy and engine performance

    My honest recollection is a 5-7hp gain. Not much in the grand scheme of things for a 33bhp bike. The big gain will be with the remap of the fuel injection making the bike have a much smoother throttle response.

    What is the difference in performance if you are just installing the Slip-on for this bike? as I am getting this exhaust fitted to my new 2011 Ninja 250R Next year coming.
    I am from Guernsey in Europe here we have the jetted versions of these bikes a posed to the carbed ones you may have in the US :S

  • @OnTheThrottleTV
    @OnTheThrottleTV  14 лет назад

    @BdoG91 the bike went through jetting and needle position changes based on ambient temps. As with all carbs, they are sensitive to air temp, air density etc and while changes need to be made, they are quite subtle unless you put altitude into the equation.

    In all cases with fuel injection it is better to buy the module and then have the fuel injection system mapped professionally. Using drop in air filters and altering the air box may or may not improve fuel mapping and therefore overall performance.

    WOW!! you can change a bikes horsepower just by changing a bikes exhaust!?!?!? i swear this blows my mind!!!

  • @OnTheThrottleTV
    @OnTheThrottleTV  12 лет назад

    manufacturers work with different thoughts in mind. More peak power or more torque, or improved performance in the middle third of the power band. Some are quiet some are not. Leo Vince tends to offer much more mid range making much more usable power for the street and track and with the quiet inserts, you can adjust the noise level to your needs.

    For fitting an exhaust or changing the chain and sprockets? That's a very straight forward task to undertake for any motorcycle repair shop. Actually taking the time to map the fuel injection requires some careful research indeed to find someone that can do that task.

  • @OnTheThrottleTV
    @OnTheThrottleTV  12 лет назад

    with the prior generation 250, there's no pipe listed by Leo Vince. I don't know, so I would do 2 things:- measure the distance between the headers on the new and old generation and check the exhaust mount on both.

  • @OnTheThrottleTV
    @OnTheThrottleTV  12 лет назад

    It depends on the track and anticipated top speeds. You gear for that first then make minor modifications for rpm's when coming out of the corner. Check with the local fast guys on the same bike and change slightly from that eg: they run 14/45 and you are 6 seconds slower run 14/43

    It makes more sense to try to eke out a few more HP from a low power bike like a Ninja 250 than it does a 1000 CC super bike that's already sending 170hp to the ground.

  • @ylism

    It does need some tuning, to get the carbs were they should be, and it would do even better say another 8 to 10% ? But going FI would be even better for tuning, with the programs out today to get it mapped properly.

    @moshn no worries, it makes more power with the silencer in with pump fuel. If you moved to race gas and a remap the silencer would come out.

  • @OnTheThrottleTV

    The 8149 type system is the easiest to put on for the most gains as slip on's dont interfere with the ECU and fuel injection.

    Hi there, ive just bought the leo vince header pipes for my 2011 FI ninja 250R it currently has installed on it K&N drop-in air and oil filter along with a leo vince exhaust CAN. I am just wondering if or not to buy the Leo vince fast injeciton module. I'm also wondering what kind of benefits would my bike reap with the full pipe and a good map from the module woud this setup if I had 2 holes punctuared into the air box for better air flow work well with the maps on the fast injeciton?

    something tells me this is a huge scam, watching videos with other 250's with custom exhausts, gaining a max of 1-2 HP, how did you magically gain 7 HP just with an exhaust change....

    • @joshd9442
      @joshd9442 7 лет назад +1

      maybe since it was a race bike it was already set up for that exhaust, or maybe he only did one run on stock and as the motor warmed up it performed better. who knows but I can't imagine changing a pipe that probably wasn't that restrictive to begin with is going to add nearly 1/3 of the engines original power
