    I don't think Suarez intentionally hit Judge. He had 5 BB and struggled with command all night. Always gonna be some tension between O's and Yanks especially when they are top two teams in the division but I saw no intent there. And Keegan Akin has struggled with his command almost all year so not a surprise to see him miss a spot.

    As a Tankees fan, I'm pissed Judge got hurt, but I find it hard to believe that the Orioles DELIBERATELY through at Judhe in retaliation for Soto running into Westburg. Both injuries suck but are part of the game. Considering though that in the fifth, torres was also hit in about the same spot as Judge, they were clearly trying to throw up and in and missed. I really don't think we should be playing the blame game. Just cuz a player like Judge gets hurt doesn't mean it's intentional, but you better believe Cole will send a message to the O's tomorrow to send the point of "You're not getting away with throwing up and in on my guys like that

    High and in is the go-to pitch against Judge, it's probably all over the scouting report. Suarez tried to go high and in but lost control, it is what it is. But I'm sure Yanks fans want to make up this whole fake mobster drama about how the O's are playing dirty to injure their best player.

But a humans reaction time can't fully avoid a 95 mph fastball from 90 feet. U see very often hitters getting hit on arms or hands because of this. • @jakes3799
    @jakes3799 20 дней назад +19

    Some Orioles fans said Soto did that on purpose? How stupid. That collision turned one out into a double play. Why would Soto want that? And you could see that Soto couldn't stop his momentum to avoid the collision. He pounded the ground afterwards in frustration. And if you look at the play, Westburg moved into the baseline to make the play, essentially running straight into Soto's path. I'm not saying that it shouldn't have been interference, but clearly Soto didn't intentionally collide with Westberg.

    • @mrthingy9072
      @mrthingy9072 20 дней назад +5

      According to the rulebook (CloseCallSports will back me up on this), the fielder has priority when going after a ball on a batted ball. It's the runner's job to stay out of the way, so it was definitely interference with the fielder. There's been a few interference calls this year called for precisely this, including one on Soto:
      ruclips.net/video/tAQrHlvGKCI/видео.html
      I think Soto needs the rules explained to him, this isn't his first interference call this season. Sure, this time it wasn't during an infield fly but it's still interference and it's the 2nd time this year Soto has been called for interfering with a fielder. Soto COULD have gone around the fielder this time but ran straight towards the base, and runners do not have priority when a fielder is going after a batted ball.

    • @timbrown5576
      @timbrown5576 20 дней назад +1

    Too many overthinking contemporary 'fans' on here. None of this was intentional. Soto isn't going to risk giving up THIRD BASE in a close, important game just to try to take out Westburg by decelerating into him with his knee. Similarly, Saurez isn't trying to hit Judge, especially in the hand. His control is nowhere near good enough for that. If he's trying to back him off and misses by hitting him, that happens 99% of the time in a HBP.

    Soto didnt do anything dirty. He clearly didnt do it on purpose he just was caught making a blunder. His jump clearly shows this. And Im a Cardinals fan saying this if you remember back when Rolen got hurt on a play exactly like that. THAT was dirty and on purpose. This was not.

    The Soto play was awkward, and clearly not on purpose. If anything, Soto was at great risk of serious injury on that play. I don't know if there was purposeful retaliation or not, but baseball players are extremely sensitive and have always had strange unwritten rules they follow.

    Baltimore showing itself as much a punk franchise as Tampa was under Madden. But the Judge scare is causing people to forget another Holmes gag in the 9th inning. Does Holmes ever - ever - pitch a clean 1-2-3 inning? He gives up frozen ropes all the time - they just have been finding gloves most of the year.

      Yankees pitchers have hit 8 Orioles this season, while Orioles pitchers have only hit 3 Yanks. We know which one is the punk franchise. How did you like that 17-5 beatdown today? That's what the Orioles do. They let their bats do the talking, while the Yankees and their fans whine.

  • @snerdterguson

    Soto didn't injure Westburg. They collided and Westburg was hurt. Saying Soto injured him makes it seem like it was Sotos fault. His options were stand still and be out or try to get to third. He made every effort to avoid contact. This rule needs to be changed. Because a runner needs to have a path to the base and this rule makes it so that play results in Soto being out every time.
    Throwing at Judge and then Torres was dirty. Especially going at the hands and wrists. If you're throwing at someone, get them in the thigh or ass. If you can't be accurate enough to do that, then don't try to hit batters.
