- Making his first visit to the Basic Military Training Centre since taking office, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong engaged with about 420 recruits, trainers and staff. if soldiers are so important, why are these recruits not paid a proper wage? instead of this PR stunt, do something that actually is useful for the people serving which you deem so crucial/critical
if you are going to say "serving the country is not about dollars and cents like some other minster", feel free to lower all ministers wage to a recruit allowance

I don't agree with increasing NS pay, but I have to agree on Ministers renumeration. Ministers should not get the same pay. They should be paid based on a rating by citizens. Shanmugam, Ng Eng Hen and Teo Chee Hean should keep their pay while Lee Yock Suan's son Desmond Lee should return every cent he received on the last 10years.

What are you talking about. Sure they made mistakes, not perfect, but they also did a lot of right. One of the best governments even if not perfect. We could easily be like our neighbouring countries based on circumstances but we are not.
I "USED" to be very proud of myself serving NS for my country and my people in the 90's when we do not have the influx of neighbouring foreigners getting PR and citizenship. But having said that, i will still only respect those expats and their families, foreign doctors, nurses and those foreigners who served the NS, the Gurkhas contigent and domestic helpers.
Personnaly, I REALLY lose respect to those who open and welcome the floodgates like we are a pasar malam.
