The biggest difference to our current players is not the talent, it's the mentality. These guys may be old, rich and out of shape, but you can easily tell they really want to win this match, even though it's just a friendly. This is why this team won everything.

You are right. The attitude of these legends is very different from that of today's current team. These older guys are in it to win, and they don't stop, even when they're 2 or 3 goals ahead.
This game evidenced exactly what has been wrong with Utd in recent years. Despite their ages (and the ages of the Bayern players!), the patterns of play, knowing exactly where their teammates are or would be, when and where to make runs etc were evident throughout. We haven't seen that at Utd for a very long time.

I remembered how good these players were during their time and what Sir Alex instilled in them to win. That team was scarily good. Unfortunately, not much can be compared with the current MU team.
When you watch the Beckham documentary, you get the impression that he still keeps himself in good nick. Mind you, 48 isn't really old so he should be in good shape. That said, my what a wonderful performance from the man. Bayern's keeper should also get a standing ovation despite the goals against.
