    This video was really soothing without any music and just the sound of Beckham's boot passing the ball. Nothing is more satisfying than hitting a perfect cross and it landing to your teammate. Beckham mastered it and was always the player to look at when wanting to practice long passes.

      Agreed. We didn’t have soccer everywhere in America when I was in high school (graduated 2002) so I had to make use of a friend’s satellite acct and watch Prem games at ungodly hours and had a mirror set up so I could watch Beckham’s form to emulate on my own, as I was left-footed and didn’t have the tools to save the broadcast and invert it. As a Liverpool fan, I can tell you he was every bit as good and then some as rumored, because he made me sad when he played for ManU on a number of occasions 😅😂

    It's weird how underrated Beckham has become; mainly because so many people call him overrated. I think people get distracted by the "Brand Beckham" part and retrospectively decide he was a mediocre player who got famous because of his model looks, but it just isn't true. He was a world class player who happened to have model looks.

    • @deadforever
      @deadforever 5 месяцев назад +83

      This is 100% accurate. His late phase at Milan and PSG really showed how great an all round player he was because he basically ended up in the middle of the pitch and didn't really have legs anymore, but was great at making the space he needed to spread play and break lines

    • @iwrotewords510

      As a kid back then he came across as boring but also the Spice Girl wife and modelling made guys think he was not for them and just got lucky. lol
      You think when your a kid/teen you know everything so when you saw his long passes and praised by adults you thought it was not that hard as you could do it too... when you played on a pitch half the size with zero positiong or real rules, and with less than half the quality. lol

    What I always noticed about Beckham, compared to the other great passers of the game, is when he whipped a cross, or hit a big diag corner to corner, with the flight of the ball, and the weight of the pass .. It was like the ball was “alive”. Not just a well passed football. It’s like it had a mind of its own. Beckham was in his own league when passing a football.

      @@shangwenger7982well no I’d argue his ball control and first touch were excellent and even though his dribbling wasn’t on the level of a flair dribbler like Neymar or Ronaldinho, he was remarkably press-resistant and could beat a pressing defender with his close control quite easily. Even just his long passing alone, this guy wasn’t just “good” at crosses, he’s literally the greatest crosser in history, and not just run to the by line and cross either, but he could stand anywhere along the right flank and pick a spot anywhere in front of him to put the ball into. His vision to calculate the trajectory of the curve and put it directly in front of a running player whilst also playing it with the right spin and power to make it easy for them to control is something only a handful of players have ever been able to achieve. If he hadn’t gone to the US, or perhaps even if he hadn’t gone to Madrid and instead stayed in Man United or another team that would’ve been more willing to make full use of his skillset rather than try to squeeze him into a team of Galacticos, then perhaps he would’ve been better recognised for the godly passer that he is.

    Imagine being beckham and having a striker like Inzaghi whos always in the right place at the right time and can just 1 touch finish everything you send to him. Beckham is so underrated but his knowledge of the game, his teammates, space creation, his ability to play a ball perfectly in behind, the bend and whip he can get on crosses, corners, freekicks, long passes etc. If he had learned how to play in a Central position earlier in his career at United he would have been so much better. He had a period of time where he had to adapt to playing in the center because at Madrid you had Figo and beckham would never start over Figo at that time, so he was forced to play central. This is when his game evolved and adapted. I wish he never went to LA Galaxy we coulda seen becks play top level for all those years he spent in the MLS Glad he was able to play 2 seasons on loan at AC Milan this was an exciting time

    • @knighthero92
      @knighthero92 7 дней назад

      No, he was a winger for a reason. Gary Neville share his thought about Beckham was among the most durable teammates he’d ever seen. With the durability, passing and crossing skill, he’s the best when he’s a winger. Fact that he debut with number 10 and played in the central. Sir Alex put him in the right field because he saw a bigger threat to opponent from that decision.

    • @sean-e-boy
      @sean-e-boy 7 дней назад

      @knighthero92 yes but he adapted his game to excel as a central midfielder. Being durable and being an "engine" are parts of being a great central midfielder. He had those abilities with amazing technical ability on the ball with long balls, swerve passes, excellent understanding of space and his defensive workrate was very good. He didn't have much pace to maintain playing as a winger and as I said he never is starting over Figo who let's face it is a much much better footballer and winger than Beckham. That's why he had to adapt to the Central Midfield position. At AC Milan he played amazing there too. Beckham was instrumental in Madrid winning la Liga before he left with his performance as a CM and a leader in the locker room and out on the pitch.

There was something in the way the ball arcs back to the attacker, while managing to evade the defenders that I don't remember seeing from other players. I think I read something about him decades ago, stating that the arrangement of bones in his ankle was fairly unusual, which had an influence on the way he struck the ball. His delivery on his left was also very good, we just didn't get to see much of it.

Beckham guaranteed his teammates would get goals, nobody else saw the play happening far away from him like he did and nobody else had the confidence they'd make the pass stick like he did. His team mates had to change their game because suddenly they were finally confident that they could do ridiculous runs into space and the magic would just happen.

Beckham had underrated footballing IQ, influence, and in a team with heads, Beckham was always going to be handy. His passing accuracy and range were ridiculous. basically paul scholes but playing on the flanks. he had the same amount of vision, passing range and first touch. becks also did develop his dribbling quite a bit when he was at real. this version of becks was the peak of his technical ability.

    AC Milan back then was Pure Class. Holy shit, the team they had in the 00s and in the 10s.. That team would be more than good enough for today's football.
    Like.. kids today know 'magicians'. But the players before... they were Wizards. More than that, they were personalities. MEN with hair on the balls.
    Many players even used to be scary. Like Gatusso would physically make you fear him, i mean PHYSICALLY! and Maldini could just stare at you. While we talk abt staring.,.. even referees back then were badass. Like Pierluigi Collina... I have never seen players with that much respect for a ref ever since.

      Yeah but problem of Milan was no prospect players in these days. Aubameyang, Gourcuff, Darmian...they miss some good players. In 2005-2007 Liverpool and Milan was two best teams in the world, after that Milan never won Champions league, never was in final. Liverpool did the rebirth for a new generation much better. Milan was pure class but unfortunatelly not today.

    Honestly, Beckham was a great footballer, world class in his time and what's so great about him is that he didn't need to have all these tricks and stuff to make his style work. He was entirely basic or rudimentary even but he mastered the basics to such a high level that he didn't need any more to his game.
    Very underappreciated player and it would do a lot of aspiring young footballers the world of good to model themselves on Beckham and get the fundamentals mastered before trying anything fancy.

    They want runners now, multitaskers, people who dribble all day. Beckham did none of that. He was not a jack of all trades, he was a master of one. That one was as close to perfect as you can get. It created chances all day. Loved him at Man Utd.

    • @Shuddho1980
      @Shuddho1980 3 месяца назад

      That’s not entirely accurate. He was the hardest worker of the ball. He used to run in a normal match what would be a Premier league record for the year (around 13+ lms). Hell he covered more grass than Kante in his prime.
      He also had a very cultured touch and was extremely press resistant. That’s why ancelloti took him to Milan and then PSG even when he was so old. And he also scored a lot (and I mean a lot) of goals for a midfielder, especially in his United days.

    • @ryanthelion656
      @ryanthelion656 3 месяца назад

      @@Shuddho1980 So I discounted his running because ultimately that was a hardworking team back then. Press resistance was also uniform right across the midfield with Scholes, Giggs and Keane. I was just pointing out the aspects that made him a perfect complement to those players.

    Used to think he was overrated until I went to an LA Galaxy exhibition game in Melbourne - blew me away with his long range passing. Could drop the ball on a dime anywhere on the field and what it did was really expand and open up the pitch for his teammates completely stretching the opposition. Even in this video when he plays those cross field balls it usually leaves the player on the left with only one man to beat or a midfielder can make an underlapping run through the middle for the next pass. Its no coincidence how good Man U were during his tenure there. England were not as good when he was dropped either
