  • Comparing the stock exhaust sound against the Wings slip-on with the loud insert. Nowhere near as obnoxious as my 450L with the RS4 system. Might switch to the quiet insert eventually if it gets too annoying on long rides.

Thank you for the intro music, not every biker needs heavy metal on everything.
    Thanks!

Who are you? Elliot? Are you the more effeminate cousin of Frazier and Niles Crane? Or were you joking?
Haha, *I'm* the one joking. In fact, this video freaked me out because I clicked off from the Bach music playlist I was listening to so I could hear the sound of this motorcycle video... I was like, HOW IS MUSIC THIS STILL PLAYING?

Installed my Wings on my 2019 690 over 2 years ago, very happy with this choice since that day.... neither the soft bags nor I melt 5 minutes after I start the bike as was the case with the stock pipe

Nice comparo video. Ya, the Wings can is louder than stock, but it is far from obnoxious even with the louder of the two DB killers. The Wings is a cost effective solution too. I opted for the cannon length Yosh can with spark arrestor insert. The Yosh can ends underneath the turn signal, so melting is no longer a potential problem. The sound is great when riding - deep and smooth.
I wear "Eargasm" earplugs (highly recommend) when riding for the wind noise. I was not able to hear the stock exhaust note, which made gauging RPM more brain damage than it needs to be as there is no tach on my '23 701. With the aftermarket can I can hear the exhaust, which is nice cuz it sounds cool but also for being fully connected to the engine's RPM and shifting gears in an easy no brain damage involved way. It only gets kinda loud when really romping on it, and even then it is a deep and smooth tone, no raspiness at all.
Adding a Rottweiler O2 sensor dongle and ultimately a Power Commander 6 with their map and that unleashed the freakin' Kraken. These big thumpers make pretty stupid power when you feed them a proper fuel mix and let them breathe. The low end filled in, which is great when trail riding, as it chugs like an XR650 now, making the tall 1st gear a non issue - in slow going it's TC off, grunt 'n spin. The world is your clutch!
The top end also improves slightly I suppose, but the real bonus to the fueling mods with a freer breathing exhaust is throttle response and low end chug are way better than stock, which is extremely lean off idle. I see Wings makes an addon fueling box, that looks simple and effective as well. Check out the Wings dyno chart, which shows strong gains from 3.7K to 6.5K RPM, right in the RPM range where ya ride these the most. The bikes are correctly fueled on the extreme top end for full power, so there is not a lot of peak HP gain, but who cares - how often are ya throttle pinned at 7-8K RPM on your 690 😆

Put the same exhaust on my 701 - sound is much better and the weight savings are huge!

Thank you.. nice to make the comparison.... do you know about the weight of the ktm exhaust.... and this new one

This freaked me out because I clicked off from the Bach music playlist I was listening to so I could hear the sound of this motorcycle video... I was like, HOW IS THIS STILL PLAYING? Anywho... I don't hear a TON of differences, and I am bluetoothing thru a JBL speaker, still, this is something you have to hear in person to get the full effect. How do you like the bike at cruising speed? I like simple motors, (and I buy and flip at a very casual rate) but I switched to twins personally because all the singles I had would vibrate a tad too much at highways speeds. But tech may be different since I rode the singles.

It can cruise at 70 just fine, but it's not that pleasant for the rider. Vibrations aren't terrible but rubber mounting the handlebars could help reduce them even more. The 2019+ models have dual balancer shafts which are supposed to smooth the engine out quite a bit. I'd say tires are really gonna make the biggest difference though. As for noise I recently swapped in the quiet dB insert that came with the exhaust. It's still fairly loud, but at higher rpms it seems to dissipate the noise better.

Is the Wing with one or two db-killers?

Mine came with two. The louder one is installed in this video.

The stock one is better. The slip-on is too loud imo.
