    • @daveaglasgow
      @daveaglasgow 21 день назад +14

      I would imagine the top athletes won't be turning up because they wont want to tarnish their career they have worked so hard at, therefore it will be left to lesser athletes to turn up who are not going to be as good as the others. Therefore clearly they will not be breaking any records in mass numbers. Any top athlete turning up would automatically put a cross against them in many people's eyes, and I don't think the top tested sports like athletics/rowing would look too kindly on them coming back and claiming to be natural to the public.

    • @slinger7529
      @slinger7529 21 день назад +7

      @@daveaglasgow just because they're a top athlete naturally, does not mean they will be a top athlete on PEDs. it all depends then on how much of a responder to PEDs those athletes are. the best PED responding athlete could exceed the best naturally enhanced athlete for instance.

    • @wss33
      @wss33 21 день назад

      Because PEDs help minimally. You need talent and the most talented people will go to the real Olympics.

    • @grantarneil8142
      @grantarneil8142 21 день назад

      The talent pool will be smaller, and also be a subset of the population which self selects out all of the people whose genetics are good enough to make it to the top (where there are legit career prospects) without PEDS. So basically, MOST of the people who would be able to smash the records through the use of PEDS would not be the kind of athletes to actually take that step.

      The guy in the video literally starts by saying "I broke Usain Bolt record" Yes there are many enhanced athletes that have broke world records, but nobody cares because first they can't participate in any official competition of any kind (unlike powerlifting or bodybuilding) and 2 the Olympics bodybuilding and it's audience have always had an anti drugs mind set, when people realise that any athlete is in drugs they're never taken seriously again (unlike powerlifting and bodybuildin)

But im a realist. The guys at the olympic level have the best genetics in the world for their particular sport or discipline, they all work extreamly hard. If some of theme would be taking PEDS then the rest simply wouldn't be able to compete, a gentic freak on steroids will always beat a genetic freak thats not on steroids. i dont like this because:
    1. adding enhancement to athletes just gatekeeps smaller countries from being able to compete with the bigger countries.
    2. It also disrespect the non enchanced athletes in history that came before them. that will have their records broken.
    3. Having enhanced and non enhanced games the enhanced games may just over shadow the natural games. like how natural bodybuilding cant even compete with enhanced bodybuilding.
    4. This encourages countries to make PED use legal in their countries. Proliferating PED use, making the market for black market peds bigger and encouraging younger and younger use.

    • @RubiixCat
      @RubiixCat 21 день назад

      1. Already happens,
      2. Already happens,
      3. Already happens.
      You're naive if you think the Olympics aren't already enhanced. Do you have any idea how unreliable drug tests are?
      Saying that, I still think an explicitly enhanced Olympics is a bad idea. The drug tests, while unreliable, do mean that athletes have to be smart and controlled with what and how much they take, instead of just going balls to the wall with PEDs and knocking decades off their life for the sake of a single competition.

    • @duhotatoday3277
      @duhotatoday3277 21 день назад

      1. How does it gatekeep smaller countries? Do you think elite athletes can't afford РЕDs in some countries? Then why don't we see these issues with bodybuilders who are able to get to the Olympia from all over the world? Weird point.
      2. And what's the issue with that? Training improves, tactics improve, exercise science improves, legal supplementation improves, nutrition improves. Do these things not disrespect athletes from the past? For example, any more or less high level modern chess-player would absolutely embarrass any legendary grandmaster of the past in a game. So what?
      3. Again, so what? You can't just pretend these things don't exist and don't make you a better athlete whether you like it or not.
      4. Again, so what? РЕD use is already extremely high in countries where they're banned, and SАRMs are legal everywhere anyway. At this point the laws against it just help to ruin some people's lives and encourage people to lie about the way they achieve their results.
      And how exactly will legalisation make the market for "black market PEDs" bigger, if they will have to compete with more safe and regulated options?

    • @onurbole7921
      @onurbole7921 17 дней назад

      PEDs are tricky when it comes to olympic sports. They primarily help strength and endurance, not much power (which is more about technique and genetics). In many cases, more PEDs won't work like they do in bodybuilding. Therefore, it is unlikely that current records will be easily broken, given that most elite athletes (if not all) are already on something. If it really worked like magic, trust me, someone would have already broken Bolt's record unoficially and uploaded it on social media just for fame.
      Secondly, poor countries do have access to basic stuff that works just the same. A lot of Americans already go to poor countries just for that because it is dirt cheap. People from all countries can get to Mr. Olympia level. Like Greg says in the video, it is engineered drugs specifically produced to go undetected that poor countries don't have.
      Nowadays it is not even drugs that carry records forward. It is equipments, apparels, recovery devices, training techniques, superior nutrition, etc that make the difference. People back then didn't have access to stem cell treatments for degenerating joints, now they do. Do you remember those LZR racer swimsuits used in olympics 15 years ago? It traps air, decreases friction, etc, and people who wore it were breaking records like crazy before they banned it. There are tons of things that help athletes, should we ban them all? I'm not even pro-steroids (I just don't care), but I don't see why people are so allergic to it, like that's the only thing to take into account and not, for instance, sleeping capsules that help athletes recover faster. We can't even control it like we control swimsuits, but we act like we do so we feel better about it.

Olympics is about what a human body can do, not what a hormonal cyborg thinks can do. We should all see the reflections of ourselves in these athletes, having the same parts, same wiring, different life/training... If anything, Olympics should get more strict about their anti/doping rules and be ahead of the curve in chemistry. The HRT, my dad is 60 and he approached his 50s like a grown up, lower testosterone is a part of the process, you get old you lose muscle, you slow down, you spend more time with family and grandchildren... i see where Greg is coming from, but i think it is very problematic in the long run. If you have the enhanced Olympics become more popular than the regulated Olympics, due to factors like faster runners, stronger lifters etc. it is heavily going to promote regular everyday people to take ped's even though they aren't required to.
    Thoughts?

    "as if people in the Olympics aren't already using Performance Enhancing Drugs"
    thanks Greg, I've been reminding people for years that these athletes in the olympics are enhanced. the IOC only does "random" drug tests (if you understand random, you see why they never catch anyone unless they are from Russia. and I'm pretty sure that only happens because of politics), and even if their testing randomness isn't faulty the athletes can just cycle off before testing (or the designer option you mentioned haha)...

    Great video! It is good to see someone openly speaking about this with an open mind, even though we have different opinions (I personally don't think enchanced games are a good thing).
    Just as a contribution to this interesting debate, among the premises you adopted in the video, the main one that I disagree with is that allowing enhanced games to happen would be a way to achieve a plain field for competition both for natural and enchanced atletes. The reason why I disagree with this premise is that enhanced athletes at the Olympics are lying precisely because they want to have a competitive edge. In enchanced games, they would not have that. So I think it is plausible to imagine that many enchanced athletes would still try to bypass the testing system so that they can compete against naturals and keep the competitive edge. Indeed, this seems to be happening in some natural bobybuilding competitions, for example.
    Hope stakeholders can put some proper thinking into this to evaluate pros and cons and that the best decisions for the athletes, fans and society is taken!

    This would be awesome. i also hope some of the bigger underground labs will take a stand in creating clean and safe products with no solvents or additives like glycol that literally dissolve your blood vessels or create so much inflammation that you get heart disease or have heart attack, from oxidized rancid oil right into the blood stream I'd like to see them step up their game on delivery systems and create clean and safe product as possible for all users. the tren i got in mct oil is next level it just feels so clean compared to the cottonseed oil which is commonly produced with solvents that make you feel crazy. maybe the best delivery system is actually a combination of oils such as mct oil and another oil like caster or grapeseed so you get the anti-inflammatory effects of mct oil and anti oxidation increasing shelf life but also maintaining stable serum levels with the long lasting thicker caster or grapeseed oil. mct oil just feels so clean

    Coach, what if they announced The Fat Games where obese people competed against each other and received medals, would that be a good thing?
    You mentioned before that someone using and abusing PEDs is just as unhealthy as an obese person.
    What kind of influence would that have on young kids and even adults? If they’re not good enough at a sport, they would see the Enhanced Games and consider PEDs even more than before.
    The Fitness Industry is doing more than enough damage as it is. Enhanced Games would make it much worse.
    Knowledge is power of course, but in this climate with social media I would argue that influence is a greater power. The influence of the Enhanced Games coupled with the glorification of PEDs in the Fitness Industry could be catastrophic for society.
    The most important thing in life is not the most exciting displays of sport or making money, it’s our health. You’ve talked about that before and how health is above all these harmful things that society glorifies.
    Also, you’re assuming enhanced athletes won’t enter the Olympics if the Enhanced Games existed.
    Many still would if they can get away with it.
    More glory in the Olympics as a fake natural in their eyes.
    Thoughts?

      So you would prefer we just continue to lie to young kids and tell them they can be just like their favorite sports stars when in actuality they will absolutely need to take PED's to come even close. Steroid-use is rife in almost every sport that exists. Every single sport that has some physical performance element has people at the top that use roids.
      The fitness industry is doing damage because they are being untruthful. They either tell people they can have godlike bodies "just buy our supplements", or they don't inform their audience about the dangers of steroid use.
      Also, you're assuming enhanced athletes don't already enter the Olympics - if this is your view on this subject, then please refrain from commenting on anything sport or training related ever again. I cannot understand how a grown person can be this ignorant. You're also implying that there will be more steroid users in natural competition when there is an available enhanced category, as opposed to now where there is no official enhanced category. How does that make sense?
      Lastly, what you're unknowingly suggesting is that we lie and hide the fact that there are so many steroid users out there in professional sports. It would be significantly better to educate people on what is being done, the dangers, and how to safely use PED's.
      You're the parent that doesn't want to talk and educate their teenager on safe sex because "they are too young to be taught about sex", as opposed to the parent who says "I know what teenagers do, I know what you are going to do, here is how to be safe - this is the options on contraceptives. Here is what will happen to your life if you have a child while you're still in school"
      Who tf are you to tell anybody what they should or shouldn't do? You're literally advocating for fake natties to be in the Olympics. Let the roid users have their own divisions. The testing will eventually catch up to the point where we would be able to accurately detect any form of PED's.
      Hiding it from the world isn't doing anybody any good.
      Very last thing, I recognize this comment comes off as angry and argumentative - I apologize for that. I'm working on my behavior

    • @BigUriel
      @BigUriel 20 дней назад

      This argument is a red herring. Elite sports competition is not about health, natural or otherwise. People ruin their lives trying to be successful in athletic careers all the time. How many guys are out there flipping burgers and with a bunch of joint injuries (possibly even brain damage) who spent their whole teenage years trying to make it into the NFL but were just not quite good enough to get drafted?
      Professional sports is high risk/high reward, and drugs are only a small part of that.

    I absolutely agree that we should be allowed to do whatever we want to, as adults, no children.
    I love to watch American football and bare knuckle boxing. In football and regular boxing, the brain damage from low impact head blows is definitely a problem. Boxing because padded gloves are used, which means many more blows before a knock-out.
    I don't know the difference with bare knuckle boxing, but the fights are short and quick knockouts happen fast. A blow that knocks you out in that way, just isn't the same as getting pounded with gloves for long fights.
    I would like to know what the actual injury comparison between regular boxing and bare knuckle boxing is. Not an opinion, please. From someone who has either read scientific papers or is knowledgeable about it.
    I knocked myself out half running and hitting a wood scaffold board years ago. The injury caused me to have seizures. So I speak as someone who knows about head injuries.
    I'm still gonna watch these sports because today, they know what can happen. They choose to do it.
