I was a young backpacker in Asia when this album dropped. I remember bying the cassette in a music shop in Singapore. The next day I took a boat to an island that belonged to Indonesia, and afer a couple of more days of waiting took a slow boat up a river into Sumatra. I played the Disintegration album over and over and over (as Robert would say and sing) as I watched the jungles along the river's edge slowly pass by. I was in my own world transported there by the magical sounds of this album, which ultimately became the soundtrak to my entire trip through Asia. a journey that would last over 14 months. To this day, whenever I hear any of the Disintegration songs I am immediately transported to the joungles of Sumatra, or riding the rails in India, or sitting still while taking in the breathless heights of the Himalaya in Nepal. This music is balm for the soul . . .
Like Robert once said:" music business is a conspiracy of bad taste..." But in time The Cure will survive because their music is art and will stand the test of time.Even today their early work still sounds avant-garde and way beyond anything that other people accomplish.I almost listen only to the cure, all else is a sorry excuse for music, some exceptions not mentioned
This type of lyric itself is a poetry, a fervent declaration of the purest love and longing that can be felt, nowadays nobody is interested in this type of songs because they live daily in the superficiality in the vanal and meaningless, believing that it is true love, they are not interested in knowing what is very deep down in the same deep waters of someone they love
The Cure are a band that just transends everything. Incredible band. They own their own sound so completely you know immediately who they are from the opening seconds you know who they are. So thoughtful and just insanely creative.
Never ceases to amaze me how fabulous they sound live. This could have been a studio recording for how clean and well it was played. Absolutely fantastic.
This song…..Im not kidding….got me through the hardest and worst time of my life……..it saved me…………it’s beyond beautiful…….beyond art……it’s love
I'm 52 and have been listening to The Cure all my life and still listening to them. It reminds me that I'm still alive!

The Cure's best all-time track imo. Timeless and Brilliant
First CD ever : Disintegration, 1989. Such a good pick for a start. Still in love with it.
I stared in the face of the devil on this song and lost. I burned hard but clawed back. Timeless band, glad they're here.
One of the best songs from the cure. It almost makes me weep.
Lyrics:
Utterly, utterly beautiful....
Questa canzone è qualcosa di unico, che sound, che belle parole. la voce di Smith è davvero unica. Questo brano è bellissimo
