So happy to see him with his dad.
Lucas is the best host of Eater and Munchies all combine together
IN THE EARLY 50s I USED TO GO TO CARM'S EVERY SAT FOR LUNCH AT CONGRESS & CICERO. I GREW UP ON THEIR BEEFS. THERE WAS A ITALIAN BAKERY JUST NORTH OF THEM I GOT 2-2LB LOVES & A POUND OF POUND CAKE FOR DAD. WE TALKED ABOUT THAT ALL THE TIME UNTIL HE DIED AT 90 YRS OLD 13 YRS AGO. WE ITALIANS LIVE LONG. I MOVED FROM CHICAGO 50 YRS AGO. I MISS THOSE SATURDAYS.
The owner seemed like a really sweet "tough" guy. He seems down to earth and very enthusastic about his work. Lucas, is always, the man.
My Father also worked at the University of Illinois Circle Campus! A couple times a year I would venture to work with him and had lunch at Carms. Few RUclips video actually brings back fantastic memories as this one did. Thanks, I am now 70 years old and enjoyed the trip down memory lane.
Probably the best presenter on this channel, it doesn't feel contrived
+Lucas Peterson *gasps* It's the "Lucas"... get the camera Carl!!! (Great job btw)
Just warm fuzzies all round. Wonderful series with a fantastic, charming host. Great job Lucas and the Eater gang!
+Maz M Thanks for watching!
Finally, Best Host Ever...
Hi, Eater, could you please put Lucas 7 times a Week ?
Regards.
+ar. 17 Lucas is a busy guy! We wish we had more time to shoot with him too. Thanks for watching!
+Eater Does he have Instagram Account ?
+ar. 17 He does! Lucas' IG: staletwizzlers
Thanks
+Eater Why is he so busy ?
As a published food writer, I can say Lucas is legit. He understands how to cover the flavors plus a dash of human storytelling.
Rayfil Wong Number 1 fab again... lol...
I really enjoy Lucas and his coverage .He brings the neighborhoods right into your home. Could watch him all day.
Lucas always makes my day. Such a wonderful host! More of Lucas please!!
Too cute. Now we need to see you mom, hopefully she has stories too.
Lucas is an AMAZING host. His Dad looks really cool as well.
Thanks!
Lucas is definitely my all time favorite host. He's very personable, knowledgable and congenial. Great job as per usual!
+Gabrielle Andres i agree i always liked his vibe
I stumbled upon Dining on a Dime two weeks ago and am not ashamed to admit that I've watched all of the episodes. Not only are the episodes fascinating, but Lucas is a wonderful host--he projects an everyman sensibility that is relatable, but is also clearly an intelligent guy with a level of sensitivity and kindness that is missing on food shows these days. Keep up the great work!
I went to the university there and had those Italian beef sandwiches almost every week. Now my mouth is watering and I want to make a trip back to Chicago just to eat one!
My favorite Vlog of yours. Your dad is a good man! He obviously loves you very much.
i have been binge watching this series... this is by far my favorite episode! great having your dad in it and having food that makes you feel like a kid or remember your childhood. drag it through the garden
I love this video. I have watched it many times and I miss my dad.
i love your dad! reminds me of my dad. he's such a loving family man.
Thanks for giving the history of the dining place. So people know 5his ain't no fly by night joint.😊💃
I love this show. Lucas makes me want to try every place he visits. He describes the food in a way that everything sounds utterly delicious.
Lucas! Lucas's Dad! Thank you for your nostalgic video. Always great to see people revisiting childhood food haunts. Thank you for this series. Your show warrants a slot on Travel Channel. Blessings ChefMike
Stevie is the man! I ate at Carms once on a trip to Chicago about 14 years ago. He bullsht w/ me for about an hour then wouldnt let me pay for my food. Awesome dude.
I love the Chicago accent... Another great segment Lucas. Keep up the great work!!!
Thank you sir for giving us the gift that is your son
Again... this is hands down the best show on Eater!
I am a loyal subscriber of Eater. I was born and raised in Indonesia--Food Paradise and now move to the LA. I love you Eater. Wish you all the best!
Best food show presenter on the internet.
I ate at Carm's and Fontano's many times while I went to Circle back 1978-82. Just regular food in Chicago.
+Eater great episode! I moved from Chicago to Las Vegas recently. And there are definitely some foods that are not done
the "right" way over here. Growing up I used to go to a spot in the suburbs called Pop's. This episodes really shows the connection between food and family. Loved it!
Steve has that quintessential Chicago accent. Love it.
i think an entire multi season TV Series could be done on interviewing restaurant owners across America, they literally fed us for generations. These stories are terrific
So nice you can enjoy a meal with you father and have a decent conversation. When I go back to Chicago I get Hot, Sweet, Dipped beefs, and dogs with no sport peppers. Once when I was West of the Dan Ryan I stumbled upon this sandwich shop among a bunch of warehouses, It served one of the best Italian cold cut sandwiches I had ever had. Fantastic long thin Italian bread loaf with perfect crust and spicy Italian cold cuts. If you have not done a video on those type of places in Chicago, please consider doing one.
Lucas has a likeable personality. His videos are easy to watch
Lucas is fantastic. Bring him back!
The Chicago Italian beef sandwich is hands down the best tasting sandwich in the country. There isn't even a close second.
Really love these short movies. Lucas' style and approach to food are totally awesome! More please!
Hey Eater, you guys should put Lucas on half hour segments. These are great! but too short! and I'm being too productive at work ;-)
+Scratchy Thecat You can try binge watching the seasons if you're getting too much work done! Thanks for watching!
Great episode, and yet another great job by Lucas peterson. I've been following Eater for a while now, and its obvious; Lucas is one of the best in the Biz. I love his way of not being pretentious , and am impressed by his sick linguistic skills. I see greatness in his future. Wishing Lucas, the best of luck, all the way from India.!
Best host!
Great episode and series showcasing my hometown. Lucas thanks for repping the city and its great food scene for the rest of the world to see. You'll never beat a Chicago dog or Polish in my books.
Lucas' entire family is so lovable.

this guy is such a sick presenter, him and the chubby guy own lol
+fruitycolax MATTY MATHESON!

My kids went to the elmentary school down the street and my youngest still stops by when attending classaes at uic. They are a great family. Hi Steve and Mary.
Lucas back at it again with the great episodes!
Lucas is a great storyteller
It’s so touching that he got the beef sandwich and his dad got a hot dog
Every episode continues to feel more and more personal. I don't know of it's meant to, but it is great to see. Really enjoying Eater videos

One of your best videos.
When I went to UIC, I ate there. Not a bad place, been many years and I will have to go back. Lots of great places to eat at around there.
Lucas Peterson is a really good host in a very long time.

Just came across this video. This is awesome. Gotta make my way down there within the next couple days.
Lucas is so chill like he smokes weed everytime before coming on camera. That's what makes him a great presenter.
This was fantastic. Lucas is a great host.
Love carms. Was my first italian beef. Great food.
Taylor Street is full of legendary restaurants. Patio (not the chain) is the best hot dogs on Taylor.
Great episode!
Lucus and Matty Matteson from Munchies need their own show!
good host its like one of youre friends telling you about how the food is
another great episode 😆
I had Italian beef. And I love it. Wish it was as good as this place!
Nice way to end in Chicago dining with your father. Hard to believe Lucas was a picky eater... LOL!
I used to eat at the one in the late 70s Hillside. My Mom would go get a pound and two loafs of bread cause we eat on the one loaf coming back to are house in Villa Park.
Maan Lucas pleaseee ! i haven't started breakfast because of watching your videos. and i was like this should be the last episode ama eat now but man -___- i can't resist to watch lol
be good to see this guy get his own tv show or something his vids are great!!
Your dad seems like a good chap. Say hello for me please!
Nothing beats a chicago Italian beef or hot dogs. Transplanted Chicagoans tell me they always miss the beefs, dogs, and of course deep dish pizza
I'm surprised that a McDonald's could even survive in the city of Chicago. They must be there for the tourist crowd without the knowledge.
More like Lucas Eaterson :D
I love that place. I go to UIC so its kinda cool to see this place on your channel.
These are getting super history infused lately... Awesome as usual
OMG ! I didn't know Lucas is an actor, good luck with your acting gig !
yay Lucas is back!!!! :)
Hey Lucas! I'm a real big fan of yours when it comes to showcasing food from Chicago! As a matter of fact, I loved this episode because that Carm's hot dog was my first ever lunch as a freshman at UIC. So many great memories of that place and definitely a local favorite! I hope you continue to do more shows in Chicago! BTW, I didn't know your dad was a professor at UIC? Anyways, keep it up!
if dining on a dime ever back to eater, i think they will do better viewers wise. still remember watching these series alongside meat show back in 2016 when eater had like 200k subs. wish they bring back old series because with today audience, people might looking for cheap good food and how people more "online" nowdays that 7 years ago
Good job Lucas
Pretty cool. His dad reminds me of my Dad (talks like him). Must be the teacher thing.
