CLIMBING TO 11,752 FEET AT 2:30AM BY MOONLIGHT FOR A POP-TART BREAKFAST AT SUNRISE

This was a truly unforgettable experience and one that we couldn't have been more grateful to have shared together! We climbed Mount Timpanogos at 2:30am under the full moon! We started our day at 1:30am before heading to the trailhead at 2am. The climb took us just under four hours and we reached the summit at 11,752 feet just before sunrise! It was almost exactly 15 miles round trip and even though it was difficult, and challenging, and sometimes painful, it could not have been more worth it! We reached the summit of Mt. Timpanogos just minutes before the sunrise. It was emotional, spiritual, and a memory we will cherish together forever. I think what was most special of all is to have been able to share this experience together as husband and wife, as a team. Hiking and running is most definitely more Mom's thing but Dad was anxious to put his leg to the test after his surgery to remove some of the metal screws in his ankle. While there are still screws in the knee and a metal rod down the length of his leg, everything seemed to hold up fine and it was a real milestone in the recovery process. Once we were at the top we soaked in day's first light and cracked open a ceremonial Pop-Tart.
Huge thank you to ‪@AprilandDaveyVlogs‬ for coordinating this hike. We were not able to hike with them because of different start times but we would have never even considered it without them putting it together and inviting us.
We also owe this sunrise summit moment to our neighbor Sara! Without her we would have been lost less than a mile in and never reached our target on time. She pushed us through the tough parts, motivated us the entire time, and showed us the way. Literally. Thank you for making the unforgettable experience a reality.
