Thanks Doc....I have recently decided make care of my wife's feet a major priority. She has given so much of herself to me over the years. I now realize it is my time to provide care for her feet. My wife is a Flight Attendant and spends every day walking or standing. Her feet have taken the brunt of it. Thank you for helping me evidence my love for my wife.
Once I got my heels in good shape...I started rubbing my feet at bedtime with Vaseline Intensive Care lotion and then putting on ankle socks. No issues with cracked heels since I started this nightly routine.
That Vaseline lotion works wonders!
Doing if right now
I might try this, but I have always hated that grease feeling on the bottoms of my feet. It makes me feel that scrape-a chalkboard feeling...
@@pattrell5257try shea butter. Vasoline isn’t healthy, it’s a petroleum product.
I watched and did this a week a go. At first I was skeptical if this will work. On the 3rd day I already noticed a difference. A week after, my goodness, my feet are back to normal. The pumice stone I bought at a dollar store probably made the process work faster. But be carefull not to over scrub your heels when using the pumice stone. Big thanks to you Doc!
I’ve been plagued with this, ever winter, for years. I’m going to give this a try.
His DIY remedie work for me. Now I can wear shoes that show my heels
Thank you! Best advice for someone who can't afford a doctor/no health insurance and prefers the DIY approach. What is advice to keep cracks from reacurring?
Your welcome! Glad we could help

The overall cause of dryness in the feet is generally wewring shoes and socks too much. The body tries to optimise the moisture level of your skin and shoes and socks retain moisture. Over time if you wear these all the time the body down regulate moisture in the feet to stop them being overly damp. But the issue is this causes them to be excessively dry when not wearing shoes. Long term the best fix is to gradually reduce the amount of time you wear shoes and socks - the body will slowly up regulate the moisture content to account for the dominant environment your feet are in and they will stop drying out and cracking when you don't wear shoes.
Check dr Berg/ cracked heel
It’s a vitamine B3 problem

Thank you doctor
Hello Doc. I am in Los Angeles, otherwise I would come and see you. Not only I have cracked heels, but they are severely itchy. I have major fissures on the heels and soles of my feet. I have eczema on my hands and can't tell if what I have on my heels are the same. The more I am using the pommes stone, the more irritated and thicker the skin on my heels are getting. if you have an advise, I appreciate it.

@@Footankle Thank you kindly
Thanks doctor
Wow this video was so helpful 😊 thanks much
Glad it was helpful!
Maybe wearing shoes most of the time will create the moisture...I say this because once I stopped wearing shoes...the cracking began.
I experienced something similar. I have heard it’s more about too much pressure on the heels or a lack of arch support.
Sure, wear your shoes, but moisturize and wrap them first. There is no shortcut my friend.
I slathered vaseline, paste a bandaid on top of it then secure with silicone heel cover
I get them every summer when I wear flip flops
Me too! UGH!
Basic cause is your body adjusts the moisture level of the skin on your feet based on the usual conditions. If you normally wear shoes and socks - the body reduces the moisture level because the shoes and socks retain moisture and it would be too damp. When you suddenly stop wewring them and switch to flip flops the skin is too dry. The body doesn't adjust immediately - it takes time. If you gradually over time simply reduce the amount of time you wear shoes the body naturally adjusts up the moisture content in the skin and you won't have issues wearing flip flops
Same here. I work from home now, so just flip flopping all day long. Heels are taking a beating though. Dry and crispy is an understatement
Retinol with Ferulic acid will clear all cracking in 1 day
@@guyinthesky6696 short term maybe - but it won't resolve the Issue long term. It's usually caused by the body trying to keep the moisture level in the skin balanced. Usually dry cracked feet is a sign you wear shoes and socks too much which retains moisture and has caused your body to down regulate the moisture level in the skin of your feet to stop them becoming wet. Best way to resolve is to gradually reduce how often your feet are covered and the body will then naturally over time begim to upregulate.the moisture level
My mother's heels have become so dry and cracked that a moisturizer just won't work. We have very few podiatrists in India. Is it necessary to remove the cracked skin before applying the moisturizer and silicone socks ?
He said the skin can be removed after a few days of doing the routine.. his instructions were to soak the feet for 10 mins then next add a moisturizer then add the silicone socks 🧦 and leave on overnight. After a few days you can start to remove some of the rough skin w a pumice stone. He said the routine of using the socks and lotion needs to be done for two weeks at least to re moisten the skin and heal the cracks.
If I put all of that mess on my feet before bed and tried to sleep I would have a screaming runaway even in the dead of winter. I would suffocate.
Look up Dr. Berg so much info!!

Yes to maintain it
Mine is cut under my foot. Does the same solution work?
My son is getting crack in his feet...so what is the treatment for that..he is 5years old
Moisturize. Exfoliate the dry skin. Have him wear shoes.
How much the cost
Arizona living is bad for heels 😒 tons of creams and soaking and no results
New Mexican here - Urea gel and socks at night helps a lot.
You seem so nice.
UGH DOC! I assumed your video would be how to treat the CRACK of the cracked foot. My mistake. I have a deep heel fissure. I have already started teh soaking, pumic, stroniong moisturizer wrapped, overnight routine.
That doesn't change the fact I've got this deep gash in my heel. My foot is just a much better looking painful experience.
Is there some glue, some medical tape, mole skin, SOMETHING to seal the wound that it can heal, then some supportive device that doesn't touch the area of the fissure, but provides support NEAR the fissure, as well as supporting the rest of my heel?
The thick callus around the crack needs to be removed for that type of fissure to heal. A good podiatrist will be able to that easily for you

Thanks for the feedback. I only found one link on that page that wasn't working and I updated it. All the other links look fine to me. Here is a link to the page.

Is dry cracked heels, athletes foot, better suited for a podiatrist or dermatologist? Honest question, not sure who to go to, like who would be better for these issue
Cracked heels, follow the doc's advice and moisturize and wrap your feed every day until healed. Athletes foot, go barefoot as much as you can. Neither condition needs a doc, just good foot practice.
