- 07/01/2024 O' Fallons Junction, NE. This junction brings together the South Morrill and Sydney Subs on the UP. The South Morrill Sub is a major coal line that connects to the Powder River Sub. Plenty of action at this spot with freight and coal train action. Chimney Rock, Ne. Caught this West bound empty coal as it passed by Chimney Rock. Looked to be the same train I caught at O' Fallons Junction. Beautiful views from the drone around Chimney Rock!
Coal is what keeps the lights on. Great video Red.
@roballen5670 Thanks Rob! Hopefully we don't keep on closing our coal plants.
Thank you for this next installment of Red's westward journey along the Union Pacific Railroad in Nebraska. This episode takes us to O'Fallon's Junction where the South Morrell Subdivision meets the Sydney Subdivision of the Union Pacific Railroad. O'Fallon's Junction was a busy location when you were there on 1 July 2024 with the two westbound trains on the Sydney Subdivision, the westbound empty coal train moving off the Sydney Subdivision to the South Morell Subdivision to go to the Powder River Coal Basin to reload. Finally, the eastbound loaded coal train was able to more from the Southt Morell Subdivision to go eastbound on the Sydney Subdivision. Your drone footage of the trains at O'Fallon's Junction gave us a full view of the junction and the trains passing through the junction. Your drone footage of Chimney Rock gave us a fantastic view of this landmark used by pioneers traveling west through Nebraska. The empty coal train that we saw at O'Fallon's Junction must have had slow orders for some reason to allow you to catch us with it as it made its way in a northwestern direction to the Powder River Coal Basin. The drone footage near the end of the video of the full length of the empty coal train not only showed how long the train is but it also showed the expansive vista of western Nebraska. @thomasmackowiak You're welcome Thomas! I wish I would have stopped at South Morrill and grabbed some footage. I'm sure there will be a next time. Nebraska has tons of rail action. Powder River Sub next👍
Some excellent rail-fanning!!🤩
@johncamp2567 Thanks John!
Those were some spectacular coal trains, empty and loaded! And let's not forget the large mixed manifests. They were nothing to sneeze at, either! Are the mines in the Powder River Basin strip mines, Red? I don't think I've ever seen so much train traffic in one place before outside of a rail yard! Great. Catches! 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Absolutely great Drone Video!👍
@timothybdavis7520 Thanks Timothy!
Hi Red, a fantastic video, these spectacular drone shots of the three UP freight trains and the other UP trains are simply great. Thanks for the video and have a nice Sunday today, stay healthy my friend. Best wishes from Germany. Wolfgang
@@wolfgangpfeilergartenbahnd6530 Hey Wolfgang! You're welcome👍 It's amazing how far you can see with the drone out there.
Thanks Red
@craigzysk9666 You're welcome Craig!
Nice union pacific coal train sitting there and another UP coal train and a UP double stack train in O. Fallons junction and UP loaded coal train there in chimney rock Nebraska nice chimney rock there red thanks for subscribing me
@Diegoiowatrains Thanks Diego! Big action in Nebraska👍
Took me a couple days to get through this one. Beautiful. That double coal train was great. It's funny how flat neb is then all of a sudden chimney rock. Thanks Red
great stuff. Chimney Rock neb., awesome, thanks
@joebidenbites1015 You're welcome JBB! That was a fun adventure.
Thank you very much for this spectacular video, Red!! I believe you fixed the longest trains I've ever seen. The coal trains were so cool 😎 !!! The scenery is absolutely gorgeous, too. I've never seen that part of the country before, and I sure do appreciate it, my friend! I hope that you, Walter, and Roger have a safe and enjoyable weekend. 😃😃😃😃😃❤❤❤❤❤
@garymiller5937 You're welcome Gary! Lots of train action in Nebraska. I'll have to go back soon👍Not sure on the type of mine.
@@redsiowatrainvideos6645 That's OK, Red. Just idle curiosity on my part. 😄😄😄😙🤎🤎🤎
Always enjoy your videos, Red!
@karengunia5451 Thanks Karen!
thanks Red another great spot i loved it
@ronaldrondeau7870 You're welcome Ronald!
Awesome drone footage of the trains Red, loved the 2 trains splitting going in thexsame direction then splitting off left & right looked fab. Great trains in all directions in Nebraska. I fo like a loaded coal train as well. ❤😊👍
@Carolb66 Thanks Carol!
Great job, Red! Really nice open country there. Love the wye action! 🚂🚃🚃
@bekleidungu.ausrustung7068 Thanks Bekleidung! Yes you can see a long ways out there.
I love the screech of the rails 🤠
Very nice video. Safe travels, *Red*
@oubrioko Thanks Oubrioko!
Looks like you had a great time in Nebraska! Great catches!
@@sptraxide Sure did SP! There's a ton of rail action in that state. I'm just exploring more now that they dropped the helmet law. Powder River Basin Sub. and Cowboy Line yet to come.
Red, that is an awesome place to rail fan right there. I could sit there all day and watch those empty and loaded coal trains going in and out of the powder River basin because let me tell you. What between UP. and BNSF they bring a lot of coal out of there in a a days time but anyway, my friend another awesome video and you stay safe out there and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one
@timmyfrierson2684 Thanks Timmy! That was a sweet spot. Quite a few bugs though. More coal action here soon👍
Another goodie there. The empty coal train you caught at OFallon and then at Chimney Rock is a double-train. The 3-mid train DP’s are actually the rear DP of the first train and the two leaders of the second train. Total cars approximately 250 and 13,000 ft+ in length.
@PCBill0622 Thanks Bill! Lucked out on catching it twice.
Awesome video Red. I haven’t been out in that area since they added the 4th track on the Orion sub. Thank you for the great views. The CNW had plans to build a locomotive shop and yard at South Morrell before the merger with the UP.
@dansnow7374 Thanks Dan! Lots of interesting railroad history through Nebraska👍
Nice catches!
Nice video...
@tigerphid9677 Thanks Tiger!
I will say…….there’s nothing like watching hoppers full of coal moving along.
Great Drone Shots, Red. You won’t get a Sweeter Shot on the Ground. 👍😬
@kens.3729 Thanks Ken!
I sure do enjoy your videos, and as I watch the trains go by I'm amazed at how much product is moved by rail and then look at all the trucks on the road. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
@gerardmeadsr5419 Thanks Gerard! More trains and less trucks. Too bad they pulled up so many rails.
Hello Red . Fantastic Drone shots 👍🏻😎 UP 👍🏻😂Robin out
@@robinroberts3335 Yo Robin, thanks! You can see forever out there👍
🚂😎👍🚂
The other half of the time I watch lake freighters moving coal n taconite from Duluth
Red needs to film that!! And get the freighters in too!
@jeffreyerickson3050 I have a Duluth video from last year. Flew over the docks and rode the Two Harbors turn around.
@@redsiowatrainvideos6645
I’ll try to find it…….thanks
@@redsiowatrainvideos6645
I was at both harbors in 2021. Your drone video showed me views I couldn’t see 👌🇺🇸
You are a long way from home 🏡
@@gerardmeadsr5419 Been further😃
How long does the battery last in the drone 🤔
@@gerardmeadsr5419 Around 15 minutes on this model.
Keep that coal moving. Got make electricity for all the electric car lovers!
