- I got out to Jasper National Park for some waterfall and wildlife photography. It's one of the best places in Canada to see wildlife and for landscape photography.

Your video reminds me of my trip to the Canadian Rockies in September 2016. Maligne Lake Road was the best spot for wildlife for us, too. Before we went there, we had "only" seen bighorn sheep, elks and squirrels. On our way to Maligne Lake we stopped at Medicine Lake and saw two bald eagles (one juvenile). At Maligne Lake car park there were to moose (female with calf). We hiked up the Bald Hills and on our way back just past Medicine Lake we saw our first wild bear. 🐻 That was a perfect day. I didn't know that people ignore Edith Cavell. I thought it was one of the main hikes around Jasper. We loved the glaciers as well as the picas and marmots 😍 Thanks a lot for sharing all these beautiful places!
I’m glad you gave the warning about the bull elk. They can be so unpredictable during the rut. 👍👍👍
Wow! What an experience…I can’t wait to visit Jasper.
Thanks for taking us along in your adventure!!
Wow 😮😮 great video and cute animals but those sunrise waterfall shots 👏👏👏
The Pika photos were delightful!
THRICE! What a banger (the song and your photos!)
Fantastic views and photos. Thank you.
Its really nice and beautiful at Jasper, I also took few photos at Sunwapta falls with ND 1000 on my Olympus omd camera turns out beautiful, I will never get tired to drive from Edmonton to Jasper, Yes and I recently visited Jasper this Summer its really amazing wild beauty.
I visited Edith Cavell in 1990. It’s an amazing place.
Those last pics woah 😎
That's exactly the kind of road trip I love to take. Good luck!
I’ve been looking forward to this video! 👍🏻
Yes, good to see you back. Love the photos and the adventures. Be safe out there!
Boah, those ears of the deer!
Bautiful images!
Thanks again for the great views around Jasper. Especially Edith Cavel and Angel Glacier. And the very cute picas.
My favorite vide you’ve ever done! Awesome job!
Thanks Randy!
It's nice to be able to finally watch one of your videos and be able to say, yup I've been there. I thought those burnt trees by Medicine Lake would make for a nice wallpaper. I was wrong. I hope you went to the end of the trail at Maligne Lake, it was epic there. Great video sir 👍
Lovely images of the waterfall, Brendan. Nice to see Edith Cavell is remembered in Canada as well - we have a lovely bridge named after her on the Shotover River near Queenstown, NZ.
Great to see you showing off the Canadian sites again Brendan.
It really is blessed with some truly spectacular scenery.
Stay safe 🇦🇺
Beautiful shot of the Athabasca falls .
I'm lucky I live in Jasper.
And get to enjoy it's beauty everyday.
Next time you are in Jasper I can take you to some secret local spots.
Love the Moose pic
In your element
Thank you. I really enjoyed this & I hope I can see it in real life one day
Those last few pictures are gorgeous, wish I was there in Canada; never been and it looks beautiful! Cute pica aswell! Enjoy your trip through Canada!
Edith Cavell and Angel Glacier are a beautiful place (or at least were when I was there in 1997). Yet, there are sooo many beautiful hikes and spots in the Canadian Rockies. I also remember walking along a track where at the foot of a rock pile there was a sign that pikas might be spotted there - and right below that sign there sat a pika. Unfortunately, I wasn‘t quick enough to take a photo, but the memory alone always brings back a smile. Even back then the famous places like Lake Louise (where a campervan hit my rental car while I was hiking and left without notice) were pretty crowded. But it was always easy to find a walk where you would only meet very few people. I‘ve never understood why so many people just stick to the most well-known spots when beauty is all around. I‘ve always wanted to return to the Canadian Rockies since that visit where I had one of the happiest days in my life. And while so far that hasn‘t happened, the day will come! Enjoy your time and cherish that your home is among the most beautiful places on earth.
I’m from Sylvan Lake, but haven’t been back home to Alberta in close to 2 years. I can’t tell you how good for my soul it is, watching you make your way through. Thanks for this.
Loved this video Brendan. Having visited all those areas back in 2010, brought back wonderful memories, but quite sad to see the devastation of the fires. Much like our forests here in Australia a couple of years ago.
Hi Brendan! Beautiful video once again! Love it!!! Would love to join you one day!! Absolutely love the mountains ⛰ as I'm from Banff/Canmore! Safe travels 🙏🏼
Fantastic to see you back on photography shoots in Canada! Love the images and video.
Thanks for watching, Wendy!
Amazing! He's back 🔥
What a treat to see those places through your eyes. We travelled through that area 4 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed our drive from Jasper to Banff. The mountains and forests are so very different to our Aussie landscapes - must get back there again one day 📷
i would find it hard to leave if i lived in a place as beautiful as that, must be a bitter sweet experience returning , the images at the end of the island in the falls was simply stunning , great image !
It's hard. But honestly i think i appreciate it more now that i don't live there
It's good to see you back in your element, I can tell you are having a good time and enjoying photography again! That area is so beautiful too!
was there one of the best trips in my life and i also saw a pica there
i was in all of those spots
THANKYOU...
lovely video brendan
I have to agree with you about Mt. Edith Clavell; one of my favorite places in the Canadian Rockies. Great photo of the pika!
the Icefields Parkway, truly a postcard moment everywhere you looked. Thanks Brendan, bought back some wonderful memories from a few years back
Good to see you back….
“Normality wasn't in the days I'd left behind me: it was only to be found in whatever fortune placed in my path each morning.”
Absolutely beautifully stunning scenery! Love both Banff and Jasper, but more so Jasper! Just got to get the time and opportunity to return to the area one day soon! Long way from Nova Scotia. Looks like you are having an amazing trip and am sure looking forward to your further adventuring! Take great care now...Bruce and Otis
Epic image mate. Enjoy the journey 🤙
Thanks 👍
Bvs in the wilderness means nature is healing 😉
Good Morning ,,,,cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you…
You remind me so much of myself when going on adventures. Being in Australia I fear snakes and magpies :') haha
Really enjoyed that one Brendan, lots of great info about a wonderful looking area.
Those pictures of the pika were very electrifying! They are very cool, and I'm glad you were able to get some great photos! I haven't been to Jasper National Park yet, but I definitely want to check it out sometime!
Nice road trip... not sure if it's me or ... I notice that you have a video style when your in Canada, and a different style when you in europe... in Canada I feel it's more philosophical, more relaxe. might be me. anyway, excellent video. love it
Looks absolutely stunning. We need to get to some of the parks in Canada, Banff is on our list too! Glad you had a great day and were able to see some neat creatures! 🦌
Yes you do! It's special up there
The glacier area looks similar to the trail to Thorong-La Pass. Wish you a great time !
Yeah, except with way more oxygen. Lol
Loving these vids man keep up the good work👍🏻
Great to see you back home doing what you do best Brendan, thanks for sharing.
The pica are very cute and your photos of the bull moose are stunning
Thank you!
Seeing glaciers retreat is a pretty aweful feeling. 15 years ago, i was in an ice cave at the Morteratsch Glacier here in Switzerland. The glacier was almost gone, the last time I was there two years ago.
What a beautiful place! Hope the weather cooperates in BC. Happy travels!
Thanks! And, spoiler: it doesn't. Lol
I would pay 38 over the 400 a night in Jasper I spent! Rockies are expensive!! Love that area tho makes me miss being home in Canada!
Yeah. Seriously. Especially up in Jasper. Accommodation is really expensive
Beautiful scenery, you need to get a picture of one of those little Elk houses 🦌🏠😂
I'll go find one. Lol
Stunning pictures. But I have to ask - what's the deal with that itsy bitsy small tripod head on that huge base plate? 😉 That looks really odd.
Pika! I love those little guys but haven't been able to photograph them yet. I saw one that day at the waterfall in Mongolia, but it was too dark by then to photograph him. Loved the video and the photos. :) Paula
Yeah, pika are the best. So comical
Nice
Brazilians are all giggling when you went on about how much you love pikas...
Nice video dude.. I currently use the Sony a7riv and I've been trying to save up for the Canon eos R.. Even before I purchased the Sony a7riv I was debating on buying the Canon eos R and now that I have the Sony.. I wanna get the eos R for video :)
Hey Brandon are you making your way towards Wells Gray Park? Which is right in my backyard. It’s full of beautiful waterfalls.
The design for Pikachu, one of the main characters in the popular game franchise Pocket Monsters, better known as Pokemon, was based on a squirrel - not a mouse - developers of the game have told The Yomiuri Shimbun.
They didn't even know they were so close to designing a pika on accident. Lol
Hi Brendan, does bears not concern you when you are sleeping in the tent? From someone in uk who only worries about rats!!!
I can see why you love pikas
Finally I know the origin the name Pikachu. Now I can die in peace...! 😅
Arrggh. I had planned on going to Banff, but with the "one must not be named". we can't go
Ah yes, I do recall spending the night in a tent during “some light” rain 😂
Totally worth it…
Hahaha. That night will go down in history as one of the best ever
Nice pix. For 38 bucks,😲 they should pitch the tent for you. Enjoy the picas. 👍 🥂
I agree haha. So steep
Was it safe to tent outside with bears about, and if you have food it's doubly dangerous.
Yes! I just got me a lens for wildlife, but where was my invite?
Sorry! Haha
How come the glacier has receded to such a level in a short span, global warming?
Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t you in Alberta in this video and the prior one and not in BC?
Nope. Alberta for both.
Defrosting the refrigerator. It happens.
Oh, moose are crazy. I remember reading a story in a magazine for hunters. A national park ranger in Latvia was walking in a forest, when suddenly there was a moose standing in front of her. It was their mating season. The moose saw the ranger and become very interested in her... sexually. She wrote that she was running as fast as she could and luckily there was a tree to climb. But moose was really in love and wasn't going away. So she was sitting in a tree for at least an hour, while he was roaming under the tree very dissatisfied. :D
You were a parkie?
First viewer
Well done!
Came across a black bear just after Medicine lake.
Yup! That's one of my go to spots, just up pay the lake. Once saw a grizzly mama with 3 cubs there!
oh look a "deer", so cuuute
*gets closer*
BAM!
dead
This is probably the story of how elks kill most people
Hahaha, more like "oh, let me get a selfie with this dude!". Haha
Quick lesson in Canadian geography. You are in Alberta, not B.C. LoL.
As an Albertan, I'm aware. Doesn't mean it's not a "BC road trip" ie, I'm heading to BC. 🤣😂
@@BrendanvanSon Still a bit strange. If I were touring a a few countries in Europe with a final destination of Germany, while in Paris I wouldn’t refer to my current location as Germany. It is probably best to to be a bit more precise since there are probably some viewers that are not familiar with Canadian geography and your terminology is misleading. But anyway, great photos and enjoy your trip.
